Agreed. We didn't even consider daycare until our child could communicate well enough to say something was wrong.
That said, lots of parents are in a different situation than us. The unfortunate reality is that quality daycare is expensive as shit that few can afford, and many families need double income, creating a situation in which both parents need to work and need to get cheap childcare, which very rarely is any good. Dependable family to help would be nice but is simply not available to everyone. Hell, neither my wife's family or mine are close enough to help. I just happen to make more than enough money so that my wife can stay at home.
