You're right. I was completely fine with Trump banning biological men from women's sports, restrooms, and other spaces. I approve that, actually. What I don't understand is why your side circled the wagons when it came to this issue and chose to die on that hill. Why was it so important to you that men invade women's restrooms and so on? Journalists and news agencies have and did have accounts on that platform, yes. One such account that got suspended was the NYPost's official account. They were the first news organization to report on that laptop scandal, which was later confirmed.

We're not talking about some random nobody's twitter account. Though even if we were, that wouldn't make censoring them any less wrong. The 1st amendment guarantees freedom of speech whether you're some news outlet with a blue checkmark, or some random individual. The right applies to all. But the government suppressed this right by colluding with Twitter, Facebook, and so on to suspend these accounts. It was not a decision these platforms made themselves; the government pressured them to do it. That's what makes it a constitutional violation.

You ask us to acknowledge a difference... well what's the difference? Kimmel is a celebrity that probably already has enough cash on hand to never work a day in his life again, has enough clout and power to flip the government the bird and keep soaring anyway, meanwhile the nobody who got "kicked off for hate speech" has none of that shit and is probably just stuck with the sour grapes of the fact they're just thereby henceforth kicked off?

You know what you ought to take a moment to consider that nobody ever talks about? They never needed to make rider's licenses. They never needed to create a national horse registry. Didn't need insurance to ride a horse. And not for lack of horse thieves existing, people killing and maiming other peoples' horses out of malice, people getting injured in horse riding accidents... I mean, fuck, in many respects horses are even more dangerous than cars because at least a soulless machine tends to act very deterministically and predictably. Animals can just fucking wake up with dementia the next day, horses spook easy, and they have enough force in their hind legs to kick your chest cavity clean in.

And yet despite all that we have driver's licenses, car registries, and car insurance. Not in truth for our benefit. Expressly for the benefit of the government to almost entirely erode our right to travel and circumnavigate our 4th Amendment rights. And it's just been a constant shell game of the government eroding away our rights to the point that people don't even realize what rights were taken from them.

The entire spirit of the 1st Amendment was that people were allowed and able to speak in the public forum. But because the public forum has moved into the digital realm, we have people like you that have been hypnotized into believing that 1st Amendment protections shouldn't be reinforced into this public forum.

It sure is similar if the government says moderate or else they're going to make things difficult for the platform.

It not only calls into question just how "private" some of these companies really are considering the government entanglements, but then you have to stop and wonder how it was some of these social media companies were even allowed to come up in prominence in the first place. That took an awful lot of blind, government, eyes to let that sort of rot fester. Perhaps there's a whole lot less "private" about these "private companies," especially since it would be the height of folly to think DARPA just handed the keys to the castle of the internet to ISPs and then the subsequent social media corps.
