Of all the world's donuts, these are the best, as pictured?, nahhhh. These are kind of mass produced looking and dare I say overglazed.
Any bakery or local source can do better.

What I like about a crueller, traditional churro, and a beinet is the hint of dairy and egginess/custardness to the dough itself. Divine.

I think a good sour cream cake donut is pretty special too, especially the crispy edges in the middle that get fried.

I really loathe cake donuts. If I wanted cake I would get a fucking cupcake. Krispy kreme glazed fresh out of the fryer are peak, but since those are a pain in the ass to get my second choice is any boston cream variation followed by the ones just dipped in table sugar.

Chocolate donuts are too boring and plain. Boston cream donuts have an overwhelmingly amount of cream. Sugar coated donuts are just bleh.. Jelly donuts are gross. Glazed donuts also boring and plain. Worst donut list Iโ€™ve ever seen, do not rate again.

I like simple glazed or frosted doughnuts. Cake or yeast, they're good as long as they're simple. I don't like when there's a bunch of slop piled on top of them like oreos, peanut butter cups, or a shit ton of chocolate chips.

Believe it or not, there was a minor mention of that phenomenon in an academic book but I can't for the fuck of me remember which. I think it was The Clash of Civilizations [sic] by Samuel Huntington. He mentions Cambodians donut shops in Long Beach, California. He also implies how Russians are culturally incapable of empathy or any good at all lmao
Anyway, I've noticed the same throughout the US. I live in Delaware and the nearest independent doughnut place that wasn't started by some white guy last Tuesday is owned by Cambodians and perhaps unlike other places in the country, even several of the Dunkin locations here and in Philadelphia are run by Cambos.
I've seen Cambonuts in Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and Seattle, too, almost always neat a bus station.

So ironically just came back from the dollar tree with a double whammy of chocolate Hostess and Lil' Debbies. Both has expirations well into next month so...A concerning about what these little waxy fucks are made of and B both were fresh.

Did first bite of each with a little milk to wash it down then a 30 second submerged test. While the Hostess had a slightly more consistent chocolate coating, LD were more sticky to the fingers and a bit more melty so messier, the taste clearly went with the Debs. Especially for after taste when all those delicious chemicals flood your senses. So fresh donuts around here are $1.59 each and there is about 3 donuts in each bag for $2.50 I think I have found the solid choice when not getting a piping fresh one as a treat.

There's a mochiatsu like 5 min down the road from me but honestly these aren't that great. Really, really sugary, more like candy than a pastry. I'd rather go to the reading terminal market and get an apple fritter if parking my pick up there wasn't such a huge pain in the ass, nothing in the world can top a fritter from beilers at reading terminal.

I've made donuts before, I don't like the ones with filling. I like yested donuts with powdered sugar on top.
