It's better, but that's going to vary. Think of it like craft beer or something. You're getting a product that's "superior" to the normal option, but it may also taste like shit and you're supposed to like it because it's "superior" according to self-appointed internet connoisseurs who will shame you if you say it's bad. Less expensive things get blended so this "bad" quality shouldn't be possible, but they become more "bland" (that is, boring to "connoisseurs" but not to normal people). So try it out, you may find something you like legitimately, or you may just waste a lot of time and money trying to impress 4chan posters.

I'll add this: If you've only had dark roast blends all your life, trying a quality single origin coffee for ths first time, say a medium roast Kenia, can be quite revelatory. It may not taste 'superior', it's more like discovering a new beverage altogether. Fruity roasts taste more similar to tea or fruit juice than generic coffee.

Hey anon, sorry for the crude joke, hope you weren't too offended by it, I just wanted to fit in with the 4chan crowd and get a (You) telling me I'm based for doing something gross.
In reality I did clean the boiler. The internal gasket was all crudded up with scale, so washed that with just warm soapy water. And the bottom plate of the top part of the boiler had a bunch of hard scale deposits that I softened with a descaler solution and then scraped off with a knife.
Now I'm more comfortable with working with the insides of the Gaggia, so maybe I'll do one of the more complex mods some day? PID or a full GaggiMate maybe. And I kinda wanna go fix more machines, I heard my friends have a leaking Dedica.

Rent would be capped through a special fluctuating contract at 10% of monthly revenue, (you can negotiate with landlords in smaller cities, they're nervous from losing tenants too fast because of the bankruptcy waves). The real issue is actually not the rent, but all the license and insurance bullshit and bookkeeping/tax requirements (the govt are such niggers).
Obviously I'm not in it for the money, I'm a tough bastard, I'll sleep on a matress in the pantry if I have to, but I just can't do the office thing anymore. I'm a Europoor if you haven't figured it out by now, so I would probably be better off just going on welfare than make all this effort, I'd even get to keep my humble savings and stock protfolio, but I just hate the state too much to make the submission. If it needed more spin, it would be thin. Your milk is thick from all the aeration. You're going to have to play around with what you have available. My local whole milk froths up like paint. Grocery store brands are noticeably thinner.

$300 Flair Classic + 200ish manual handgrinder is all you need to make excellent espresso. But it takes some practice to get it right and it's a bit of a process - 5min if you go at a leisurly pace, 3:30 if you crank the grinder like a maniac.

If you want good espresso AND convenience, 1k is the absolute minimum. Flair58 + a mid-range burr grinder like the Timemore 064S is the next better set-up for value in my opinion (circa 1.2k). Avoid bean-to-cups, they suck.

>If I spend over 1k for espresso that espresso better taste like ambrosia
you arent
in fact you are over time saving thousands on espresso by making it at home with a high quality machine manual or electric.
you are spending at least half per espresso at home than you are at a cafe.
the average cost of an espresso in a major metropolitan area in america is $3.50, meaning if you have just 1 espresso at a cafe per day(most people have multiple per day) you will spend $1000 in 285 days.
so if you spend $1000 on an espresso machine and only make espresso at home you will pay off that machine in less than a year at 1 espresso per day
but more likely you will have 2 which is 142 days, just over 4 and a half months.
so if you plan to have espresso at home you are actually LOSING $1000 a year by not buying a $1000 espresso machine.

Tastes great, just feels really weird having to grind that fine. Maybe I'll try increasing dose and/or blooming it and see if that smooths out the flow a little more.
It's entirely possible these beans would be better suited to a different brew method, but I'm stubborn.

I'm new to pour over. I have Mugen and some Timemore chestnut grinder

There's just a flavor profile or some sort of aspect about the coffee that is missing when I brew with pourover (aeropress too) compared to a $30 filter coffee machine.
I'd describe it as having no body? It just feels uneven, hollow, like a pronounced peak that taste like coffee but the rest almost like hot water. Wat do?
