your pour needs work
sometimes it breaks up before it hits the water meaning the flow isnt making into the bed.

You're right anon, but I can assure you that it's because I was filming and wasn't fully focused on the pour. Thanks for the tip.

I have, however, a question: given the taller coffee bed, to achieve the same flow it should be needed to grind coarser than V60 but it wasn't the case because the flow is always fast.

I usually grind around 80 clicks on my kingrinder K6 and in the video I was a 70 clicks, so finer, but even when pouring in 3 phases after the 45 seconds bloom the coffee is ready in under 2 minutes.

What happens?

good question
i have no idea
:)
but i haven't made v60 in a while but when i did it always clogged with 3 pours but not with 2.
maybe try doing 2 longer pours instead?
Anonymous No.21415884 [Report] >>21415916
>>21415878
No, actually clogging would be the desired outcome at this point to slow down the flow.
I will try agitating the bed next time.
Shouldn't the Conical 30 be the same as the Deep 27 in this regard?
Anonymous No.21415916 [Report] >>21415937

I have both and the 27 is much easier to get a good result from. I still haven't figured on a favorite filter for the 30. Grind finer for the 30 than you would for the 27.

i like an iced americano but i'm open to making other iced coffee drinks at home if they're equally convenient and cost effective. I still haven't tried an iced pour over but trad coldbrew feels like way too much time and effort and actual coffee being used for how tight the execution window is. like i don't hours in my day to troubleshoot shitty batches of coldbrew using specialty beans when I'm already satisfied with the jump in quality since switching from a moka pot to an entry level espresso machine. not sure if that makes sense.

It depends on how much you want to shed but a reasonable option would be the Bialetti New Venus. They’re all induction compatible even the 2 cups which isn’t advertised for it because of the small footprint (it still has a magnetic bottom), and the latter is compatible with the E&B competition filter.

If you want to spend more, essentially pick one of these >>21416175 alessi 9090, Isla slancio or if you can find it the Giannina, provided that you want full 100% stainless steel.

If you have a Costco membership, I highly recommend buying whatever local coffee they stock. The last bag I bought was $18.99/2 lbs and pretty good. Anything with a recent roast date is a good bet. Trader Joe's I've heard has some decent single origins if you can find something fresh enough. Even Aldi, if fresh, could be good.
Since you have a BJ's membership, go through the aisle and look at the dates on each bag. Buy whatever is freshest and don't be afraid to go to the back of the shelf for the newest beans.

I've been using a bodum that's glass/plastic/steel I stole from a coworker almost 6 years ago. It's more or less been my daily driver ever since.

the short answer is no.
if youre really curious the only tangible benefit to your brew from a different material is that glass has rather poor temperature retention; it will bleed heat more quickly than thicker materials and the brew will cool faster. this will affect how the brew extracts, but for most people and most coffees the difference will be negligible.
other than that, some folks like to avoid plastic, and some folks like a more durable vessel.
thats about it.

Gabor is the guy behind SEprofiler/nakedportafilter.com and the one who mods shit for Hoffmeme like this vintage lever and the moka pots.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBdiBV-yzlk
>how does he measure the weight?
I'd assume by pouring it into a cup on a scale after brewing. Hence why it happens at ~48 seconds after the pressure has sputtered out.
>how do i read this
10 seconds~6.8bar
28 seconds~8.79 bar
It not technically hitting 9 bar is probably just the location of where he modded in the profiler.
>and would that mean the brew pressure is between 6 and 8 1/2 bar?
It means its a slow ramp up to about 9 bar, then the pressure drops off as the puck degrades and liquid flows through it. From the quick start of that pressure it looks like he preboiled the reservoir, then screwed on the top.
>pressure meaningfully change with a different grind size?
Yeah. Its either going to piss out quicker and hit a lower peak, or clog and hit 9 bar sooner then choke. Its not like a lever or something else with pressure control where you could back off a bit when that pressure hits a "wall". Your only control is turning down the heat or pulling it off the flame.

If you were living in a shed with only a gas burner it could be top tier. Or a bripe at 1/5th the cost. If you've got electricity(or just go with a flair/robot/rok) there are things in the price range with way more convenience/flexibility/upgrade potential. Its a gas "powered" spring lever(not a direct lever with pressure control) with a compensated boiler so you don't have to temp surf to get off 100c. If thats what you're after I think the money would go further into a Rok Presso Smartshot. You could get one of those and a df64 for about the price of a 9barista mk2. Add in a kettle for the price of the mk 2 pro.

its smaller and more portable than a lever
its even less work than a lever
there is no "technique" to learn
you dont even really have to preheat or anything like that
also people could prefer the aesthetics of it over a lever
they could also prefer the workflow.
also its better for camping/traveling.
and its more expensive because there is alot more work that goes into building it.
also a less of them are built so you cant lower the cost due to economy of scale.

Got here today. Glacial Water v1.5 x Pepe Jijon 50th Birthday 50 Hour Anaerobic Sidra(frozen). Very very fucking tasty with the General coffee/tea brew water(no silica, no extraction booster). Great mouthfeel, smooth slick finish, zero drying or astringency, clear separation of flavors. Straight juice, almost zero acidity(could use a bit more). Might the best I've ever had this coffee and I've been steadily drinking it since last year. I can make it pop a bit more by taking out the buffer and adding a bit of the "extraction booster"(magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate). If I'm understanding right the bottle I just used was
>50ml of "glacial" hardness, .5 ml "glacial" buffer(Per 950ml).
To go down to "light roast" you drop down to
>50ml hardness, .3ml buffer
To go down further to "LIGHT ROAST COFFEE (Acidity++)" you drop the buffer entirely. Probably what I'm going to mix up first but I've got the added silica in my concentrates.

fwiw a properly balanced cup of light roast doesnt have some kind of unpleasant vague acidic taste, the acids contribute sweet and fruity flavors

I'm afraid you'll have to take the initiation ritual at your local roaster's guild meeting before you're allowed to purchase from them. On a night illuminated by the full moon, sneak into your nearest cinemaplex, and leave an offering of 500 grams of unroasted coffee in their oldest popcorn machine. Wait until you hear first crack, and a journeyman of the guild will be summoned to your location.
