>>21417919 (OP)>CHARCOAL IS SUPERIOR over wimpy gasObjectively true. If I didn't want to "taste the heat" I'd use a microwave.
But both coalchads and gascucks must now unite against a new common enemy, the Chinese Electronic Wi-fi enabled Nonstick Homosexuality Device. Picrel.
>>21417919 (OP)why is the grill at his knees?
>>21418030I assume you're less than six feet tall, OP pic is completely normal.
Lads I'm in the market for a pellet smoker. Any recommendations?
>>21418041The Pit Boss ones are fine, I have had one for 3 years and it's been a workhorse. I don't see spending the extra money on a Trager, my brother has one and I see no difference in the finished product. The only thing I will say is stay away from the ultra cheap pellets. You don't have to buy the super expensive $24 a bag pellets but don't fuck with the ultra cheap $5.99 shit either.
>>21417919 (OP)Nice PK grill. I prefer Webers but PK's are built well and last
>>21418021Does this get hot enough to do the same as a flame grill?
>>21417919 (OP)yeah I'm at a cookout right now but I'm not looking forward to actually eating with my family
already yapped more than I would like to to be honest
well here's the bone in pork I did.
mustard rub + Weber Sweet coffee rub. 7 hour smoke with hickory.
and in the other corner, on the antique PK Jr. I did some burgers.
natural lump charcoal, of course.
>>21417919 (OP)>The MANLY art of summertime grilling.Men voted to all turn their man cards in back in 1919. Everything since then has just been copium trying to get manliness back (while failing).
>>21418021A associate of mine has a new electric grill on his balcony and i swear it's the worst grill experience ever, that thing shouldn't be allowed
>>21418254Same anon here that hates electric grills. those things, they tend to heat up uneven and dont produce enough heat all around if you don't use it with the lid down, just outright retarded.
Top tier coal recs? I've really been liking the last few bags of Fogo Eucalyptus.
>>21418041Get the idea of it being a smoker out of your head. It's an outdoor oven and honestly they are the worst in every single category. If you want simple and some 'smoke' they are fine. But if you want real smoked food get a real smoker.
>found some chicken hidden in the freezer from last year
Eh, should still be good.
>>21417919 (OP)>Summer? Check.Real men don't need summer to be grilling. Apply yourself, faggot.
I don't know how to grill. These have an ancho chili marinade on them.
>>21418021It’s just a George Foreman but bigger. Laugh at these fags.
Does anyone who uses an offset have any pointers for managing the fire in a cheap one?
I see all these youtube channels where they just start a fire in the box, open all the dampers and add a set amount of every 20 minutes to keep it going. Keeping things flaming in mine is fucking impossible, though, and I have to constantly check on it, stoke it, and waste a ton of wood just getting those last 10 degrees on a set of chicken thighs. Everyone I know IRL apparently just throws a fat fucking log on a bed of coals and closes the dampers to get it smoldering, but all of these cooking websites say that acrid smoke makes your barbecue garbage.

What do I do when I got mostly small pieces of coal (not Briquettes) to work with? I'm using a classic weber kettle and when I prep two hot chimney lighters full of it the one with larger pieces gets significantly hotter on the grill. Both are sufficiently ignited with mostly white ash over em. I'm also using coal baskets, pic related, to control the heat zones better. If I didn't use them I think a lot of coal would just dump straight into the ash catcher.
Currently it's struggling to even reach ~500f/250c
Do I just throw that shit out and buy proper big chunky coal or is there a way?
