There is no good reason to have more than one type of utensil. A fork is a fork.

Truly grim that you see those as the only options. That's how big cities are nowadays I guess

>culinary language
is just plain wrong
(or it's different here in Europe)

in any way
>restaurants won't notice
I asked a lot of fine dining restaurants this (among those 3* or 5 toques ones)
and every time the same answer
>yeah we know what it means
>but no we don't notice / act, because 99% of people don't know and do it by accident

god, fine dining really should gatekeep more
full of normies and nouveau rich fags

that meta is over for over 30y+ now

maybe some ultra trad retards still do that
but modern restaurants will give you the right cutlery for each dish right before or exactly when the course arrives

>>21490591
>There is no good reason to have more than one type of utensil.
of course there is
the size, the material, the sharpness / blade (e.g. serration), the nature of the utensil itself (e.g. a soup spoon needs a different depth than a desert spoon)
Anonymous No.21490812 [Report]

this is humorous because americans will use cutlery like toddlers regardless of how the table is prepared

Alternatively just pick up the bowl and start drinking the soup as it was intended to be consumed
Anonymous No.21490853 [Report]
>>21490847
>Alternatively just pick up the bowl and start drinking
what if the soup is hot?
what if the soup is chunky?
what if the soup has several components that should be mixed on your spoon?

chunky soup is the superior soup anyway
and you can't really drink that directly from the bowl

also many fine dining restaurants have soup courses that are intended to be drunken directly from the bowl today

of course you could also eat literally any dish with a big spoon
if you're slob enough

And what if some dandy insults your woman's honour and you fork him in the eye? It's poor etiquette to continue to eat with said fork, so it is always proper to have at least one extra.

nobody does this. I've watched at every fancy restaurant I have ever been to. no one does this.
