I only drink on weekends, I have a pretty good paying and high profile job which I take seriously and I don't even think about booze during the week. I just get bored on weekend nights and a bo'oh'o'wine or some beers make listening to music and internetting more fun. But then I'm not getting out and meeting dudes and lately I've been so hopelessly romantic I feel like I'm 22 again in terms of romantic motivation, but stuck in my habits I guess and not actually sure where how or when to start.

Part of my issue is having a very unstable life for the last 20 years and now after all the hard work, everything has settled down and become secure, so I'm waking up like I can finally get started building a life on a personal level, but when you've spent forever not doing that it's really odd and hard to just change habits and rituals.

also remember that if you're trying to quit drinking, don't do cold turkey because it can actually harm and/or str8 up kill you, but that's mainly for hardcore alkies who go thru withdrawals. just try and cut back on the amount every weekend and try to replace with non-alcoholic beers/beverages. believe it or not, there are some good tasting ones out there. i think asahi makes a good one which you might be able to find in japanese markets

I've always been really shitty at dieting. The only thing that works for me is alternate day fasting. It's long enough for results, but not so long that I get hangry. Whenever I get hungry I just think about what I'm gonna eat tomorrow. I don't count calories or put restrictions on the type of food. imo when you do that kind of thing the tedium will get to you before anything else. Not eating is easy and free, but it's how. Everybody's a little different I guess. I was able to completely fix my blood pressure with alternate day fasts.

There is one central realization you must have. I can tell you what it is but it doesn't matter what I tell you. It's something you have to know for your self. Something you have to believe deeply. Once you truly accept this fact you will be able to make the changes to your life.


Your going to fucking die if you dont fix it.
If you are seriously overweight the only way it's not going to kill you is if something else gets you first. Like a bus.
Now, you might think you already know this. But you can't just know it you have to really believe it.

Your going to die early. And it's going to suck. And your running out of time to fix it. Depending on your age it might even be too late. But having heart problems, circulation problems, diabetes, ect is gong to suck and dying is going to suck.

Make a common sense diet and alcohol consumption strategy and stick to it like your life depends on it. Because it does. You absolutely can save yourself.

I had this realization 2 months ago myself. And it hasn't worn off.

Again, not lifting weights and mountain biking like I was a couple years ago but I'm not fat, and my diet is quite good as well. I just enjoy hitting the piss on weekend nights and it causes a number of flow-on effects; like less productive weekends, brain fog, the feeling of losing the weekend having not accomplished anything, etc.

My stomach feels a bit off during a water fast. I find that drinking iced, unsweetened peppermint tea allays the empty or uncomfortable feeling in the stomach, so I'd advise subbing mint tea in for some of the plain water. I also think that eating every 3rd day is more than adequate for weight loss. You'd have to absolutely gorge yourself on the 3rd day to make up for 2 days of 0 calories. I was an absolute menace to any buffet while practicing intermittent fasting yet it didn't cause any problem for me.

I buy chicken breast, process into shreded chicken, store it in the fridge and eat between 150 e 200g every night. I also have a small naan topped with yogurt, salad and one or two slices of prosciutto. Here is a picture.
For lunch I eat the heathier looking thing they have at work. On mondays and tuesdays I do salad quiche days, in which I have a salad and a 2inches quiche.
I freely eat nut bars if hungry.

Long term sober guy here, I lost a lot of weight at first, but then I started to eat more sweets and drink more pop, and gained half that weight back. Like most alcoholics, I traded one addiction for another, in the form of sugar. So I cut down on my sugar intake, zero sugar pops only (I don't give a fuck about aspartame and chemicals), dessert only on the weekends and only fresh fruits, no refined sugar, completely stopped buying sugar at the grocery store. Lost all of the weight and then some. I don't give a duck about carbs, but I switched to rye bread or whole grains, chickpea pasta, brown rice instead of white, this also made a big difference. We're not meant to eat the immense volume of sugar that it's in so much shit, we're meant to find some fruit on a successful forage every now and then and that's it.

You clearly have some type of OCD which is contributing to your ritualistic consumption of alcohol, the specific way you do it. In that sense, you could be considered an alcoholic since its tied to habit.
