Why couldn't McDonald's succeed with the McPlant? Has anyone here had it?

I have not had it. Vegans offend my sensibilities. I am opposed to idiots who miss meat so much they eat fake simulations out of soy, beet juice and binders, with weird yeasty, sodium-y crap added. Nope. No tofurkey for me. I don't even want mapo tofu which features meat. It seems like goverment cheese.

If I get a veggie burger it should look and taste like veggies, or will be because I like chick peas and herbs and want a falafel for all that delicious tahini and crunch.

because the impossible whopper’s main selling point is that it’s loaded with estrogen

I've had a really good bean patty before. tasted/felt nothing like beef but still had a nice texture. I guess it helps that beans at least have some protein
it also advertised itself as a bean patty not a "veggie burger" so the company also understood what it was actually making

idk the diff between the 2 but I had a plant-based impossible or beyond burger at a restaurant when they were all the rage and it tasted different but good. I had the worst diarrhea in my life later, the kind thats so bad any fart will open the floodgates

I normally eat veggie foods with like bean or eggplant from that place but that thing fucked me up so bad I never bothered trying any impossible/beyond shit ever again. I sometimes see them on clearance and the nutrition info is wild. Like 68-90% of your sodium and fats for the day with 1 flimsy patty is
beyond what I expected
They had a "mediterran" Gardenburger I routinely bought until discontinued. It was also 3-4 beans and flippin' delicious. It also cooked up as crispy as hash browns. Don't bother with the other formulas, they fail.

I actually watch my vitamin K in my diet now, so alas, I choose my veggies for maximum satisfaction or not at all.

It stinks while it's cooking and it's exactly the same smell as that time I completely charred black a teriyaki stir fry because I got distracted. I've never actually tried it that smell puts me off too badly.

I agree. I'm fine with meat substitutes like chick peas, lentils, beans, mushroom or halloumi for a burger but fake meat is just so dumb and expensive I refuse to buy it

This. There is some weird shit going on where creativity is being sucked out of people and they are just wandering about like zombies but they look normal and don’t bite so everything sorta goes on as normal but everyone is basically retarded.

McDonalds in Belgium has fuck all choices. They don't even have a vegetarian sandwich option. Burger King is way better. Like 10 vegetarian options, and salads.

honestly, impossible is way better compared to beyond. However, beyond is a more affordable. It's unfortunate.

Yeah, I had it a few times two years ago.
I liked it. As a sandwich, it's something I would get. It's not a burger, though, and it doesn't taste like meat. So on that level, it fails.
The whole idea of fake meat is so stupid anyways. There's a lot of delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. Push that instead of weird not-meat.

>McPlant? Has anyone here had it?
it was oily with a mushy texture, tasted more like pork than beef but nicely herby. 2/10 would not buy again and i got it with a discount.
i've had a plant whopper and iirc i couldn't tell the difference

>There's a lot of delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. Push that instead of weird not-meat.
i always remember the episode of ghost in the shell where Batou is talking about some style of cooking where people mimic meat dishes but vegetarian because of monks that miss their old diets. sure we could pretend these are made for vegetarians that miss the taste of meat but we all know its to make our food cheaper(for them) and more profitable

BK just has fundamentally better burgers just often executed poorly while McDonald's has shit but consistently shit burgers. So when you take a bland basis and then make it fake meat it's obviously going to be worse while if you take something like a whopper which is really primarily sold on the smoke taste and salad it's a lot easier to adapt that to fake meat.

there was a test run in the u.k and my guess is that it didn't do too well. I think it was in australia that they also did a test run, but for vegan cheese at pizza hut. idk how that one did.

1. Impossible Whopper has a nice ring to it, imPOSS-ible WHOPP-er.
2. Burger King is themed around cheap over-sauced volume-based slop even for fast food standards, so a plant burger doesn’t taste much different.
3. Because of #2 the clientele are less picky as they have less taste than McDonald’s enjoyers and will take whatever

im vegan, been vegan
i made the choice knowing that i can't support this type of bullshit
my dad (65) and in-laws (60+) get impossible burgers when they want to grill when im over, which is a nice gesture, but i never buy this garbage and never will
too expensive, taste is a bit weird, and feels like too much work. im just going to eat something else instead
