Tracking calories, keeping it to 1500 and trying to hit at least 50-75g of protein, but 100g if I can. Just setting those as the goals winds up forcing you into something kind of like low carb and also making smart choices. I can still eat garbage now and then. I'll still hit up McD's at work if that yogurt just doesn't look like it's gonna hit the spot. But I'll just get a $5 meal deal or just a Quarter Pounder or 10pc nugget but no fries and then make sure my dinner is something healthy. Healthy meals wind up being stuff like yogurt, a small bowl of frosted mini wheats, oatmeal with a drizzle of maple and some crushed pecans, omelet without going overboard on ham/bacon, chicken breast or a slightly leaner steak like sirloin or strip (trimming off the fat cap after cooking) and some veggies, beans and rice, homemade chicken stock (usually adding mirepoix, and maybe chicken meat if I have it around). If I wind up fucking up my earlier meals or just don't feel like cooking dinner and need to up the protein, I'll usually just do something like a Fairlife 42g or a Barebell protein bar as a light dinner. I also luck out in the fact that I'm not hungry until after I've been awake for at least 2-3 hours, so I go to work and the first 2-4 hours are so hectic that I don't have time to think about food so I usually don't eat until lunch anyway.

Honestly? Keto. Every few months I do a few months of keto. I have food addiction tendencies, and it's the only thing that seems to help keep me from ending up on a TLC show. The moment my blood sugar spikes and I get that small bit of dopamine I end up binging like hog.

Recently heard that the body can adjust and get used to a deficit over time, so to continue cutting body fat, and avoid hitting a plateau in progress, you have to cut the deficit down even more. If that's the case, then going to 1500 for a while, then adjusting to 1200 might be more optimal, but idk honestly. This might also be for people going for very low body fat %, like under 15%.

Just eat a lot of saturated fats. They're fine. Load up on butter and eat the skin on the chicken. You'll drop weight. It's the best diet. The pizzas you can eat are delicious. And you can still have a piece of bread or a tortilla now and then. Just don't be making bagel sandwiches regularly. Limit your carbs to 30mg or less and watch the weight fall off while you are never hungry outside of meals.

I wish I knew about this 20 years ago.

Huge cup of coffee(water and no calorie sweetener only) when I wake up keeps hunger at bay, only have one meal a day(late afternoon) but make it big and very filling(around 1000-1200 calories)

The greatest trick is to only go grocery shopping once a month, you just have to make do with what you got in the meantime and whenever you crave shit you don't have the ability to immediately indulge. And buying a few impulse items once a month is better than buying a few impulse items every [insert how often you go shopping]. Also makes a massive change in your spending.
Obviously don't eat out/order ever unless it's an important social event, having to put in the work to cook before eating also creates another barrier in preventing impulse indulgences.

The pandemic fucked up my weight badly but I've lost 27kg this way in less than a year.

8-12 watery American light beers and a single pack of Shin Ramyun minus the sodium bomb flavor packet. For flavor I add hot sauce and a little soy sauce. Maybe a handful of mixed nuts and a small salad too if I'm feeling peckish. Oh, and half a pack of Camels and a few marijuana cigarettes over the day and night. Also a multivitamin. That's my depression diet and I lose ten pounds in week and half and look like an 80s AIDS man and then have to gorge on pasta and burritos to gain the weight back so I don't look I'm dying. Rinse. Repeat. Fuck mental illness, toobs.

Your body goes into starvation mode/mentality. When you a start eating normally again your body still believes in is there or can be there again and continues working as if there, ie keeping fat stores to use during starvation times. You are doing the absolute worst long term way to keep weight off as your body now is building fat layers and holding them longer as it is anticipating you doing that.

You just need to eat less calories, it doesn't matter how you do it. But what you eat to lose weight has to be something you enjoy so you keep doing it. That's what really matters.
Homemade sourdough bread is really satiating even though it is le evil bread. Especially if it has milk and eggs in the dough. I've lost weight eating that with fried eggs instead of a normal larger meal.
I've also lost weight eating nothing but pork ribs, mustard, and broccoli. This was my least favorite way to do it.
The easiest thing to do is stop drinking alcohol and soda, stop eating out, etc. If you don't eat empty calories or junk food, your body gets the nutrients it needs and this helps curb the hunger cravings when you eat at a deficit.
I also like to skip breakfast and only eat twice a day. I've found that 16 hour mini fasting helps curb my hunger and also makes it so I can not eat for longer, which helps me not get hangry when I can't eat on time for whatever reason.
Don't forget to excorcize ;)

Mackerel is a predator. There are far better, far cheaper fish varieties. My local fishmonger often sells a "fish of the week" for 5-8 euro/2kg (5 pounds-ish). Usually it's a white fish perfect for soup or stuffing, like gurnard or whiting.

>>21549338 (OP)
Follow the food pyramid. On one condition: only eat stuff you made yourself. Want a pizza, ketchup, mayo, soda, bread, mustard, sausage? Make it from scratch. No 2 wheat flours, sugars or tomato concentrates are the same. You got to know this stuff.

None of these diets last. Wether it's keto, vegetarian, Montignac, whatever. You have to change your way of life, your perspective. Only buy from people you can talk to. It's their job to tell you why something they sell is best for you. Don't grab shit from an aisle in whatever supermarket.

Get your shopping done on foot or with a bicycle. If you can't do that go hiking, jogging, cycling or swimming in the weekends/whenever you can. It's all about endurance sports, fitness is useless and demotivating. Spend your yearly holidays in the Rocky Mountains or the Dolomites. Get good shoes (look for vibram soles), 2 good jackets (one light, one heavy) and backpack to keep your food dry. There's NOTHING that'll make you lose more weight than a solid walk in the mountains. Plus we don't laugh at you here. We're not kids at the swimming pool. We're in the mountains, we look out for each other. There are plenty alternatives to proper mountains as well: Eifel and Black Forest in Germany. Ardennes in Belgium and France. Scotland is magnificent. I'm sure there's similar regions in the US and Canada.

Good luck.
