To reheat means to heat something again after it has already been cooked or warmed once. It’s usually done to leftovers or pre-cooked meals to make them hot and ready to eat.

>You might reheat soup on the stove so it’s warm for lunch.

>Or reheat pizza in the oven to make the crust crispy again.

>Microwaves are often used to reheat food quickly, though they can sometimes make things soggy.

It’s a super common word in cooking and food prep. Want tips on the best way to reheat something specific?

Well, back when I use to eat unhealthy foods like pizza with a crust, I use to get these monster 1 1/2 - 2 inch Giordano deep dish pizzas also Rosatis. You just lightly oil a non stick pan with canola and put it on medium, put on the cover and let cook for a few minutes. The "undercarriage" as you enthusiasts say stays crispy and helps the heavy pizza stay rigid to eat.

For good health reasons I've started making my own deep dish crustless pizza. It is still very delicious but I can only get it to keep its shape once. Any reheating after that is just done in a microwaveable plate that holds everything together then I eat as a casserole.

Anon, it's called a bain-marie or double boiler technique, how do you think people heated things before microwaves were invented?

Yes, now it's not as common (though in many ways it's better) but it's not some ancient mystical lore, people worldwide were doing it daily just ~30 years ago.

And yes if you want to microwave something quickly but don't want it to be dry, this tecnique fucks.

I don't, the best way to eat pizza is by eating it fresh or cold from the fridge, reheating kills the flavor

Ovens work too but you need to be more careful not to overcook it. I've found that the bain-marie tecnique is the best if you want to preserve the flavor.

Toaster oven with a wet metal tray, then a wire rack on top of it, then the pizza, then a little water on top, then foil.
It steams the pizza without drenching it allowing the dough to rehydrate
Then finish off with a minute or so of toasting/broil

Microwave because it is lazy, but ruins the bread if you do more than the minimum.

Oven is much better almost as good as fresh, but requires preheating the oven then generating a lot of extra heat in my home located in a hot climate 75% of the year.

I rarely have leftover pizza, as I've taken to getting smalls, which I can eat in a sitting. But, back in the day when I had leftover delivery I'd just nuke it. Worked just fine on shitty delivery.

I've never had the bread ruined, but it was shitty delivery so there wasn't much to be ruined in the first place. It just got a tad bit floppier as a result.

preheat pan in oven (so crust will be nice and crispy)
take out pan, put pizza slices and rub some water on top since they will be dried out from sitting in the fridge
drizzle olive oil and maybe some minced garlic or chili pepper
This is the best method.
