Did a corn chowder to pair with braised short ribs last night. Tried adding a bit of lemon juice, dill, and cilantro to brighten it so it would better offset the rich meat and sauce and it worked out nicely for that. I'd say it was slightly worse on its own for the addition but much better as a pairing with the slow-cooked meat.

When it gets cold I do a sausage, kale, and white bean soup. It's not a complicated recipe.
>slice sausage and brown
>sweat onion, celery, carrots and garlic
>add your white beans and chicken stock
>simmer till the beans are to your liking while you skim some fat
>chop up the kale and add with cream at the end
Adjust to what you enjoy more, it's very tasty. This is one I made last year, don't think I had the sausage in this one. It's great with or without.

>First patent (vol. 33 n. 256) for the Espresso Machine, by Mr. Angelo Moriondo, dated May 16, 1884.

>The machine consisted of a large boiler that pushed the heated water through a bed of coffee grounds and extracted them with the water’s steam. The pressure generated was only around 1.5 bars, meaning that no crema formed on top of the coffee liquor.

>The high temperatures of around 130-140C in the groups and the almost inevitable contact with the steam scalded the coffee cake, so the eventual espresso was black in color, smelled burnt, and tasted bitter. It was delivered in around forty-five seconds and served in a significantly larger volume than today.

Italians realized about 50 years later you can boil water at home as well.

One time she put raw beef in a pot with miso broth and called it "taco miso soup". It enrages me so much but my legs barely fucking work so I struggle physically to cook anymore. I used to so it almost every night just so I wasn't forced to consume her slop but my condition has worsened so bad I can barely handle standing over the stove to heat myself up a packet of buldak. it genuinely is a miserable existence.
