Sodastream does only water. If you want to carbonate any drink you need something like Drinkmate.
Both are overpriced petg pieces of shit and even Drinkmate only will get you a light fizz on your drink, because the mechanism they use is just shoot high pressure co2 into the drink scrambling it all up and making impossible for it to retain much gas.
So i made this, carbonate directly into the glass bottle with a polycarbonate shield for protection, a sub micron diffuser and magnetic stirrer.
It dissolves slowly co2 into the drink and in the end you can release the pressure slowly as well so the liquid retains the gas.
I can make any drink very very fizzy with it.

idk, the guy in the vid has some success and its a good compromise since anything above a certain limit gets released when you open the pressurized container anyway

It came out very very fizzy. Much more than i expected. I did 3 minutes of buildup pressure and stabilization and then i released slowly the pressure.
It seems that with wine you have to bring down the pressure much more slowly than with tea to get the maximum result.
It very slowly released the extra gas until it was normal pressure.

You can buy a beer carbonating kit with a 1, 2.5, or 5 gallon keg if you just wanted something you can keep cold, carbonated and have on tap at home. They even have bottle fillers you can use that don't create a shit load of foam if you wanted to take bubbles on the go. Kegs take a day or two to fully carbonate depending on the temp of the liquid.

Petg is the stuff plastic bottles are made of. In this case 3d printed is not food safe because the irregularities on the surface that can get bacteria in, but even 'food grade' petg is toxic anyways, that is why i am doing it directly on the glass bottle.
As i said in a previous post i probably will outsource the adapter in stainless steel if i dont find another solution.
The diffuser is entirely made of stainless steel.
Tubes are food grade silicon.
The stirring bar has a cover in petg but i have orderer a stainless steel one.

just boil it down to get the water out

you might need to change the recipe to handle boiling so the flavours last, basically what I am saying is that its much easier to buy pre-cabonated water and mix it with your flavourings than to go through the route of carbonating a liquid yourself

maybe the flavour gets ruined by making a syrup, but if coca cole can do it im sure its feasible
Anonymous No.21691477 [Report] >>21691486

that's what a syrup is. If what you're cooking down has enough sugar in it, you might wind up with something syrupy, but you're unlikely to get something shelf stable unless you can completely dehydrate it.
Rich (2:1) simple syrup and other syrups based on it are shelf stable.

Got everything at a brewery auction for like 500 bucks.

I mostly make water. So the only thing im adding is minerals and co2. The minerals are so cheap for the quantities used their basically free.

Or when I do made stuff its homemade as well. I made some trpical redbull complete with industrial flavoring compounds that were liberated from a major corporation my an industrial chemist.

I have also fucked with making a healthy(er?) Home made soda drink with some intresting results. Carbed iced coffee is incredibly cola like on the front. Still more like coffee on the aftertaste. So im going to try to control that by getting the lightest cleanest coffee possible then carefully slow brewing at room temp to keep yhe roast away, then fortifying with cascara ( a /ck/ suggestion) citrus, vanilla, and spices to round out the cola profile.

A co2 bottle, a regulator, a keg, and the appropriate lines and fittings. You can buy it all on Amazon. Or watch Facebook marketplace for used kegerators. People generally want way too much for a working one, but I find broken kegerators all the time. Last one I bought was 50 bucks. And it came with an empty keg ( 50 bucks used] and empty co2 bottle ( 50 bucks used) and a good regulator ( 75-100 dollars). So even if the kegerator was tits up the whole thing was a bargain.

That part is fair, the refill containers are expensive for no good reason while lab containers are cheaper. I still don't bother because with store brand containers the difference is small enough that I prefer the convenience, but if I used it more I may have considered hacking it to take lab CO2.

They're not, in fact SodaStream sells various (overpriced) syrups to make your own soft drinks in your machine, meaning they explicitly endorse that use.
That being said if it's something more natural like homebrewed tea the particles suspended in the liquid act as nucleation points so it foams like a motherfucker, meaning you have to find ways to manage that or work around it.
