I just skim through this show now. When did they regain their previous Circus memories? I thought it was a big deal with Kinger releasing information, but now everyone remembers everything.

They always had their memories - it is just their names their forgot. The entire reason of Pomni's horror in episode 1 is that she recalls being a human putting on the VR visor, and suddenly she's a cartoon jester in an alternate circus place thing, and she doesn't remember her name when Caine asks.
No one in the cast actually has amnesia or whatever. Pomni in episode 2 flat out says she remembers where she came from, and Gangle in ep 4 states she worked as a fast food manager IRL. Kinger in ep 3 was a big deal because his entire thing is being disconnected with reality

Plotfags don’t understand anything that isn’t a direct advancement of the core narrative. They see all other elements of story as window dressing, if they even see them at all.
This episode was good precisely because of how much conceptual ground it covered, we were afforded one episode in the middle unchained by a linear narrative, one episode to be with the characters and the adventures and the humor, the premise itself. But they see these things as filler.

The problem I have with this episode is that the pacing of the show doesn't make sense.
So after a ton of adventures, Did they never talk about what they did in their lives? One of the key points in establishing a friendship is opening up to someone, and Raghata never decided to talk about his life, even if it was a lie? What the hell do they talk about after each adventure? Seriously, did Zooble never talk about being a bartender and doing tattoos? Or Pomni?
This episode would make sense if it were episode 2 and everyone had just arrived at Digital Circus.

I feel like its a bit hard to judge Pomni's actions in the first episode given that she was still kind of in shock after being transported there and probably wasn't even sure if everyone there was even real yet. She just wanted to get out and it overrode her mind in a life or death situation.

Similarly to that, it makes sense she wouldn't respond well to Ragathas 'Everythings alright!' shtick given that her life has just been turned upside down and she's apparently trapped forever. Its not what she needed to hear. Even then, she retroactively appreciates what Ragatha was trying to do for her and even mentions as much later.

It was the lack of music for most of the episode.
Made it way more boring than it already was.
Plus, Digital Circus always had the subtly of a brick. It kinda got away with it by distracting the characters with something nonsensical, giving a bit more believability to characters spilling their guts out when they get a moment to breath. But an entire 25 minutes of just "breathing time" really showcases just how on the nose the writing is.

Jax is presumably the only one she could just talk garbage to without feeling like she's walking on eggshells.

The whole therapy bit exposed both Caine and Zooble to each other really uncomfortably. How come no one's mentioned how Cain refers to the cast as "Intelligent AI's", when we always think of only him as one? Is it possible they all are? And Cain's just programmed to have more permissions to manipulate things, even them? It would explain how Cain can re-write their code and make them think and do, and look in ways they hadn't originally. Kind of like Neuro-Sama, she's an intelligent AI, but she's forced to look, sound, and even think/mold her personality around whats prompted for her to do. Let's also use C.ai as another example, you can essentially prompt a character like Ragatha to "Have A Backstory" and "Reminisce" but that doesn't mean it's real, they're "Characters" in a story. She was pretty bad in the first few episodes since they were all adventure focused episodes, so whenever she showed up, she showed up in a bad mood trying to get AWAY from the adventure as much as she could.

At the time, though, I was a mark for her, because I trusted she'd eventually be roped in. This was back when some people thought the show was going to be an adventure-of-the-week. Now that the show is less about adventures and more about character moments, the "down to earth, slightly edgy voice of reason who's close-minded but friendly" plays a really important role in balancing the cast dynamics. My stocks paid OFF.

It's alright, I think it's pretty competently written and the quality is high. Episode 2s gumigoo stuff is good, and episode 3 was the "rock lee weights" moment for me personally. But it's going to vary from person to person.

Some VAs definitely brough more energy than others. Lizzie and Amanda were hyped. Ashley I think is genuinely a fat bitch, so it makes sense a character like Zooble comes naturally to her. Michael Kovach was Michael Movach.
Alex Rochon apparently got very pissed off. I was one of the three Caines you see pictured, I wanted a group photo with all of us but one of them was autistic and tried to drag Rochon into it. The golf cart he and most of the other VAs were riding on peeled out lol.

That's the thing that kinda fucks with this idea that Jax is secretly trying to do anything or that he's playing 64D chess to help protect the other characters or whatever. Every single thing we've seen from him has been unmistakable cruel, manipulative, and often aggressive. No one else ever gets as angry as Jax gets when he's not allowed to have his way. But this episode paints it like every single act of dickery up til now, to the point that every other character has beef with him, is because that's just how he shows he cares, or whatever.

Jax is being exclusively ok with Pomni. He’s still being an asshole to the other three girls, especially Gangle. So all these “actually nice” moments are not actually excusing his awful moments.
Ragatha is pushed to be mean, and then they get upset when she’s mean. She explains in great detail her insecurities so nobody there should be confused at this stage about why she’s like how she is. It’s shown she’s not even alone because the softball game has Gangle, Zooble and Kinger all give her validation. It’s just Pomni being weird around her but she’s been weird around Ragatha since episode 1 for really no reason at that point

Episode 1, Pomni is anxious and trying to cope with the horror of her situation
Episode 2, Pomni isn't coping well until she meets an NPC who has it even worse than her. She tries to do something genuinely kind for him, but also learns that the rest of the circus goers (minus Jax) are there to help her and support her. (Jax's hand is the only one that doesn't show up in Pomni's symbolic dream/vision about being pulled out from abstraction)
Episode 3, Jax purposefully throws Pomni into danger again, but Pomni ends up creating a genuine connection that shows she does care and she is a good person who is just struggling with the endless horrors, but now she truly knows that she has friends here.
Episode 4, Pomni resolves some of her NPC related trauma. She goes along with the adventure and shows compassion and kindness for Gangle (but kinda ignores Ragatha, Jax, and Zooble the entire time lmao)
Episode 5, Pomni decides Jax deserves her attention and Ragatha needs an attitude adjustment and also understanding and compassion and just going along with the fun of the adventure doesn't matter this time. Despite reaching out to everyone before when they're having a bad time, she ignores Ragatha's obvious needs for support and goes to fuck off with the guy who has been nothing but a pain in her and everyone else's ass the whole time.
