Zooble is almost always by themselves testing out parts. They're adventure-averse and, in general, most of the circus mates aren't talkative folk to begin with.
Jax tells only lies, Kinger speaks only nonsense, Ragatha only hollow platitudes. Gangle doodles in modest silence, and Zooble broods. It is Pomni with her genuine curiosity that motivates them to do a little more together.

Okay, I'll bite. I've been ruminating about this for a while but it's tough making a character that isn't "perfect self-insert wholesome chungus." I'm fairly confident in what I've baked in my brain so far.

Some things I forgot. When burping up words sometimes the letters aren't in order, so to make it easier to communicate will try to only burp up one or two words at a time. The lump doesn't have limbs, can't pick anything up telepathically either. Can't show much emotion with the face since eyes are always squinted and the only other feature is a mouth. It is so weird though, it felt like a typical argument between Ragatha and Jax. They've always bickered over things and are at odds due to their personalities, so the argument was not TOO out there.
What was a problem however is Ragatha assuming that Jax is influencing Pomni in any way, and that assumption led to a outburst that was uncalled for. Jax is an instigator, so Ragatha should have known better, but she let him bait her into getting a bit too heated. Pomni already ended the entire conversation by saying she can think for herself, but Jax's additional comment sent Ragatha off the deep end.
If Ragatha had not been so irked by seeing Pomni getting more familiar with Jax, she might have noticed his goading was just making her look worse to Pomni.

If Zooble is like an assemblable toy, I was thinking of sticking to the toy theme. Something not so humanoid but not so abstract either. And connect it to some toy I've played with a lot in the past.

A soldier type figure from the Napoleonic wars set and andventure who for some reason insists on telling they ‘she’, protecting they and praising every little thing they does as a huge achievement. And, it wouldn't be someone from the outside world, it's an AI whose chaotic programming turned out to be hyper-fixed to Zooble.

I could see your point, if Ragatha hadn't engaged first. If her butting into his and Pomni's conversation during Stargazing led to him feeling slighted and taking it out on her, then she did actually bring it upon herself for trying to keep tabs on Pomni leading her into the fire. Ragatha could have easily sat with everyone else and enjoyed the scenery and sandwiches, but she instead chose to try and keep Pomni from being influenced by Jax.
In a way, Ragatha's controlling behavior is her downfall for the episode. Eavesdropping, butting into convos, making it apparent she doesn't like Pomni and Jax becoming "friends". She gave Jax all the ammunition and pissed him off beforehand as a bonus.
I do think Ragatha should open up more and be more honest with what she feels, rather than acting nice all the time. And I know Jax is not going to just flop over and become better for nothing.

My theory is that Cain made a copy of him during an adventure and then got them mixed up. Which is why Cain looks so traumatized in episode 2 when talking about keeping track of who is a player and who is an npc.

i think the biggest issue i have with the show is that the whole "early pre-rendered PC game" artstyle is a lot less prevalent than in the first episode.
realistic looking areas have been used a lot now, it was cool in the pilot when pomni enters the offices because its such a stark artstyle change, but now you just get that realistic look in regular adventures.

It is relevant in the Stargazing scene because Pomni would have wanted to know what Jax was actually thinking for once, rather than his usual behavior. Ragatha butts into the convo to chastise Jax when he actually started showing some concern for someone else for once, this easily could have been a moment for him to reflect or really consider what makes Gangle happy or upset; or try to understand someone else in some way. Pomni has been able to communicate with them all openly due to her being so new, and her genuine questions and wanting to help others is a part in why she can manage to learn about everyone else.
Even if it is just Jax's opinion or thoughts, he knew Gangle longer than Pomni, so whatever he would have said about trying to understand Gangle would have possibly helped Pomni learn more about her too. (And how Jax sees her or what motivates him to act the way he does toward her.)
Ragatha kind of stepped all over that due to her own insecurities, and she pays for it for the rest of the episode. That controlling behavior almost seems to be punished in some way.

Ragatha didn't seem to care that much about the deep fryer. She didn't care that much about the spike either. In fact, she probably wasn't in pain at all, just annoyed. Keep in mind, this episode opens up that he seems to care, at least about gangle, and by his own words thinks everyone would feel better if they took advantage of their situation. It looks like his rivalry with zooble and Ragatha stems from a clash of philosophy, rather simple hate. I would argue, because the episode dropped some hints, that he doesn't dislike Ragatha at all and actually is worried about her. Plus, he didn't know about queenie, so we'll have to see where that goes.

And you're right, the whole getting knocked around is more an inconvenience for them. Though I do think if Jax picked the wrong moment to act out, he could easily mess up the others sense of stability. So far, Pomni has managed to get by in the situations that Jax tossed her into. But that easily could change if his lackadaisical attitude ends up putting one of them into a situation they really can't stand. For instance, Gangle, if he were to just act in a moment without really thinking about it since he did it all before; but then it causes her to abstract instead of the usual mask breaking shenanigans, that'd be a major mistake on his part whether he knew it was going to result in that or not.
