They're the animals responsible for building and maintaining the greatest empires this planet has ever seen. They can build such a strong relationship with people, they're on the same pedestal as the warrior that rode them across nations.
We valued their reliability but also loyalty as there are countless tales of a horse bringing a unconscious or even dead rider back to his homeland that was hundreds of miles away. This is mutual understanding, we might not communicate them vocally but we can understand them emotionally as so do they. This is why so many horses form such human-like bonds with us, albeit it respect, friendship or even love.
Horses are the mens true best friend in this world as it helped humanity build civilization and appreciate life even more.
