This trailer didn't do anything for me. All the jokes just involve the gross or vulgar thing happening and nothing unexpected happening. Humor relies on the unexpected. If all I expect is the vulgar then the whole movie is boring and that trailer doesn't bode well. This whole movie feels like Genndy decided he enjoyed animating Fang's cloaca so much that he decided to make a whole movie of his feral fetish.
Also the humor tries to trick you into thinking the jokes are well paced or creative beyond the vulgarity but they do it in the modern millenial hollywood way of just having all the characters take long pauses after something awkward happens or having the characters act nervous in the same way all these writers expect people to behave like themselves.
Plus they are all dogs in mind as well so the joke is inherently limiting because their existences are so limited. It's just fucking, fighting, playing, eating, and sleeping. So they can't do much creatively and just involve the same funny animal jokes except....vulgar?!?! Whoa.
Far side did this shit better since Far Side is just one panel at a time and just had thought bubbles to show the surreal.
I dunno how much Genndy was involved in those weird moments in Dexter's episodes so I can't make judgements about him or judgements about his comedic taste as I don't know who wrote the comedic moments in Samurai Jack but this shit is just really lame.
