But for some reason, he got distracted, and everyone assumed it was Jax's fault. That was the mistake Pomni didn't foresee. Ragatha made the same mistake: indirectly blaming him for the other characters' distractions because of who he is.

Plus, he probably doesn't want to get close to her so he doesn't feel what he felt when he lost Ribbit again.
That's why he pushed her away, and now he'll probably treat her just as badly as he did Gangle.
He's an irredeemable monster, but evilness is complex, like the layers of an Onion, everything happens for a reason.

My only complaint with Jax in this episode is he both admitted he breaks the fourth wall intentionally while telling the viewer to stop trying to find depth in him.

The point is we have a surplus of genuinely awful main characters or villains who don't suffer consequences for being abusive and harmful. When was the last time a sinister character got punished? The Beast from Over the Garden Wall? Yeah he's the last one I remember because he a monster seeking prey.

It's about control. None of the characters have control over their lives in the circus. Jax bullies the others to exert some degree of control over his situation but Kane making him vegan or putting him in a maid outfit or forcibly altering his memories are reminders that he has no real control over his life.
This is likely also why he isolates himself from the others because by refusing to become close to them he can keep up the wall and actively choose not to be bothered by their eventual abstraction (although this clearly doesn't work).

All of the "archtypes" Jax mentioned the characters having is their individual responses to the existential trauma of being trapped in the circus.
Ragatha chooses to focus on helping others and projects her own insecurities on to them.
Kinger dissociated and lost his mind.
Zooble complains and actively avoids the adventures.
Gangle fell into a state of learned helplessness.
Pomni is still new enough she's still actively trying to find a way out and trying to pull everyone else out of their depression.

Abstraction is caused by the subject disassociating from themselves, others and reality.

It's him seeing the entire circus for what it is, and then giving up to it. Even Kinger rebels by not only holding onto something dear, but also choosing to be beside himself most the time. The writing of this show is so chaotic and untamed by editors it's actually possible that we won't get any conclusion about them escaping or curing others from abstraction. Well even the Gangle one proves to be wrong by the end of the episode. Zooble successfully cheered her up, Gangle got the Tommy gun she wanted to badly, and even when she lost she was smiling with the sad mask. Then she turned Ragatha and Kinger into cats.
This episode has been the happiest Gangle has been and it’s partly because she finally got a day off from interacting with Jax
