AI can only regurgitate and remix what already exists. You have to feed it boring and uninspired generic and mass produced products like Family Guy and Hazbin Hotel to get it to generate anything, and even then THAT feels uninspired and generic

I am making my own comic, but i am mostly a writer and trying to learn to draw and force myself to do it is hard. and feels like it will never be good enough for people and theyll always criticize me for writing or art not being good enough. I try not to think about it but it makes me not progress for large periods of time. I dont like most any modern comics im trying to do something I would want to read and im a little weird so I hope when its done (standard floppy issue length) its good and readable as my dream is to have my own finished printedd comic. There is a similar comic called catgirl or something where he raised funds just for 1 issue and its all indie I guess it would be along those lines. Its a combination of Barbarella and Sailor Moon.

Faced with declining health and career prospects, he shot and killed himself in Los Angeles on November 2, 1981.[1][5] Toward the end of his life, an embittered Wood would say, according to one biography, "If I had it all to do over again, I'd cut off my hands."[58]

I'm working on it, it's just slow. I can draw at a reasonably professional level, but the story doesn't come to me as easily and that needs to be done before I can get to the actually fun part, so I find myself slowly chipping away at multiple treatments over time between bouts of dragging my feet. I have friends that like to write and aren't necessarily bad at it, but I'd rather shit broken glass than have them write the story for me cuz every time I try to brainstorm with them the only ideas they present to me seem carefully-crafted in the interest of making whatever I'm working on the exact polar opposite of what it's supposed to be. I'm barely exaggerating when I say that if Jim Davis was working with my friends they'd do everything in their power to turn Garfield into Breaking Bad, and if Alan Moore was working with them they'd turn Watchmen into Garfield. I swear they do it on purpose to annoy me, because that's the only way I can imagine where I can present them with the most noncerebral, uncomplicated, nothing to understand ideas I can come up with, and people that not only are not usually fucking stupid but are in fact usually smarter than me still find ways to misunderstand them

There's really nowhere to post original content anymore.
Every search engine is against you.
Every art hosting site is against you or just using your content to train AI or both
Every social media site is just people peddling their politics and will project their insecurities on your content.
The internet has become insanely hostile towards people making their own websites.
In general, everything you produce will just get eaten into the AI hivemind anyway
Publishers will never take a risk on a literal who series or worse if they do take interest they can just...take the rights, never use it and lock you from using your own idea.
Now payment processors are cracking down on anything remotely problematic so if you want to make money off your work, it better be sterile and unoffensive.

Like, it feels like this is the lowest point the internet has ever been in and it's honestly only going to get worse.

Yeah I've sort of figured out during my "art" "career" that a lot of it is actually anything but doing art like business/growing on social media. Really put a stop to my love for the hobby. I wouldn't recommend that, at least not all the time, dulls the senses looking and doing too many things
The best way I do it is just to sort of make a routine out of it, and make it as easy to do, or at least something you like doing everyday.
For example, every other day I make myself some popcorn and grab a drink and watch a movie from my backlog (if I can't choose i just go with the one I feel like doing the most or just random number generator) and it's has made me watch quite a bit recently.

Don't be afraid to steal ideas, literally everyone does it. Star Wars is basically just Flash Gordon with the serial numbers filed off, George Lucas just also made sure to include influences from old westerns, World War II, and 1950s America, that's what makes it different enough that nobody cares. If you make a comic about a hotel for monsters, the fact that someone's gonna call it a ripoff of Hotel Transylvania is no reason to never watch Hotel Transylvania, if anything doing so will give you a better idea of what to do to make yours different, so once you do that then whoever treats you like they're blowing the lid off some heist you pulled can fuck right off

To all the creators in this thread, is the satisfaction of finishing your project the way you want enough for you, or do you feel like external stuff (a big fanbase, money, etc) are what would truly satisfy you? I guess that depends more on the individual, but still

>(a big fanbase, money, etc)
Well realistically I'd at the bare minimum like to make at least a few thousand dollars, but even that is kind of unrealistic especially as a solo artist. I'd at least like to have some level of conversation around my media piece and I don't think I'd need a stupidly large fanbase for it.
All I hope is that the series literally doesn't get no views at all.
I feel like it would be pointless to put my ideas on paper only to have them be ignored by literally everyone

As someone who's made some youtube videos it's amazing to even one person and comment about your work and connecting to it on some level. I feel like if you're consistently making comics, then it's almost impossible to not have at least a few people talk and interact with it. But even then, I feel like being able to bring your vision to life should be more important as a goal

I never really had an interest of making money off my art (not saying I won't, it just I've always felt weird about it)
I do want people to like my art though, my stuff is usually very niche so it'll probably get small fanbases, which I'm fine with.

Overall, working and finishing projects are my main priority when doing art. I mean just getting the chance to draw at all is always nice. Just something that scratches the brain I guess

I wouldn't say it's a career but I think of it more as a hobby cause I sparingly make money from it. Most I've made from my work has probably been 1k every few months for writing one indie comic that's an ongoing. I won't be quitting my day job anytime soon cause I enjoy stable income.

>>149957756
Honestly I used to put a lot of my self worth into my comics thinking that the external stuff (fan base mostly) would bring me joy. It honestly made me more miserable when that wasn't the case cause I've written almost ten comics now and only ONE caught on with a somewhat consistent fanbase. I changed up my mindset to not view this as something to gain fame but just cause I liked writing stories. I have more fun making the comics than I do posting them nowadays.

in abstract, if you like something but its current creative teams isn't putting out something fits your taste, you should just make a version that do, appropriate it if you have to. I feel if more fanboy embraces this mentality we'd be a lot happier, and it makes it easier stop giving them money.

I hate this aspect of the cartoon side of the board the most, the comic side will atleast show interest in a comic if you story time it for them or atleast inform them. I almost want to find any obscure animations and make threads about them if only to spite the anons who do this.

Thanks anon but here's the link anyways

>How did you go about finding an artist?
I found the first artist (who did the artwork for issues 1 - 6 before switching to colorist role) on a forum back in 2018. It was for another project unrelated to this one but we kept talking and decided to work together on it.

The new and current artist I knew from a previous project. I helped out a bit on some stuff he was working on (a few comics that I WISH he had completed cause they were pretty good) and he expressed interest in joining the comic. I was putting Tom N Artie through soft reboot plans and he was on board for it.

I desperately want to create but I hate my writing 'voice' (it's very obviously that of an autistic man) and I cannot write dialogue at all. I simply do not understand how people have a conversation, even before you start trying to do conversations that reflect their characters. (Which I also don't understand. All I have is a few ideas for cool set-piece scenes and far too much worldbuilding.)

I can draw, I can even animate a little, but nothing comes from it. I'm trying, I'm really trying, but learning to draw turned out to be the easy part.
