The Lightwave iteration of Foodfight. Basically, production was a management shitshow with little animation actually getting done and after eight minutes were made it all got tossed out in favour of Maya and mocap. It was so bad there was a bullshit story about the film being stolen to make up for nothing being made.

A planned live-action/animated hybrid movie directed by Space Jam animator Uli Meyer. He had pitched this for 20th Century Fox and other major studios, and movie was going to be a superhero comedy about a real-life duck being transformed into a cartoon one that looks exactly like Donald or Daffy Duck. Even in the original pitch, it resembled either as a coincidence but itโ€™s not. Despite being greenlit, the movie did not get made due to lack of a funding

Well fuck me, I didn't noticed it. Even I didn't follow the thread over there because the mods in the Lost Media Wiki forums can be oversensitive and lock threads if it's full of drama, too off topic, or too disturbing for the mods.

Another candidate I considered would be The Real Captain Flamingo Show, a series of specials based on the Canadian-Filipino produced series Captain Flamingo. The two specials, which were produced alongside the series' third and final season, became lost with only screenshots and even brief clips in this interview from an ex-animator of PASI, the animation studio responsible for Captain Flamingo, is all we got. Sources say segments were once posted on Jetix's website here in the states, late into the block's run, before Disney XD launched and revamped the website.

The CG Casper movie was to be directed by Simon Wells, who originally was going to direct the sequel to the live-action 1995 movie, but when Casper 2 was cancelled in July 2000 due to poor reception of the DTV movies and hesitation of its star Christina Ricci, he backed out from that one, and moved on to direct the remake of The Time Machine, released in March 2002.

Wells came back to DreamWorks following the indestructible failure of Disney's Mars Needs Moms (and the closure of ImageMovers Digital), and once Harvey Comics' owner Classic Media was purchased by DreamWorks, and rebranded as a newly formed DreamWorks Classics, the studio had plans to make movies and shows based on old properties, with Mr. Peabody and Sherman releasing to theatres on March 14, 2014. Weeks beforehand, they announced a CG Casper movie was in development. Wells was set to write and direct with John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky (writers and producers of King of the Hill and co-creators of Silicon Valley) attached to co-write with. Around that same time, another property from the Harvey line, Hot Stuff the Little Devil, was being developed as a live-action/CG-hybrid movie, with Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux (writers of Bob's Burgers) to pen the script, both were hoping to start a cinematic universe of their own.

However by the time Mr. Peabody and Sherman came to theatres, it was a box office bomb, and the studio was already facing its economic downturn of its own by the end of that same year, cancelling projects left and right, including then-upcoming B.O.O., a similar CG supernatural ghost-themed adventure comedy which was already having a troubled production of its own. Both Casper and Hot Stuff movies ended up also being scrapped. DreamWorks would continue to use Harvey properties with the show Harvey Street Kids, which ran between 2018 to 2020, and in 2022, Wu Kai-yu (writer of shows like Hannibal and The Flash) was set to develop a live-action/CG-hybrid, but nothing came of it as of 2025.

A modern day remake of the live-action/animated Warner Bros. cult classic from 1963 The Incredible Mr. Limpet was originally set to start production between 1998 or 1999 with Jim Carrey to star, Steve Oedekerk to direct and the writing duo of Space Jam to pen the screenplay for a set release date of Summer 2000 (or at the latest 2001). Budget concerns and horrifying CG effects accompanied with bad test reactions led to the cancellation of the project. Brad Bird originally wanted to direct the movie after completing The Iron Giant as Oedekerk's permanent replacement, but terrified what the project looked like, he quickly backed out.

Mike Judge (Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill and Office Space) would end up being the director of the movie and also penning the script in addition, and also wanting actors like Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers, Bill Murray, Chris Rock, Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, and Adam Sandler to star as the lead role, and had hoped to start production in early-2001, but nothing came of it since. In fact, the almost a whole entire decade, there was radio silence about a Mr. Limpet remake up until Summer 2009, when Kevin Lima announced as director, and on June 2010, he appointed Zach Galifianakis (fresh from The Hangover) as the main star. However on March 2011, Richard Linklater would be involved with the project and was announced as director on January 2014. That same year in July, Jon Hamm, Danny McBride, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Hart, Josh Gad, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jordan Peele had entered talks for various roles in the film, but one month later, Linklater left to do his next movie, Everybody Wants Some!!

Over a decade later, and there's still no word about a Mr. Limpet remake as it's still in development hell to this very day at the time of posting.

Here's test footage of the Oedekerk version from circa 98/99:

Little girls don't need "content" they just need a cute icon for them to latch onto and to sell stuff to"
The exec who said that was also a woman.

Evan Dorkin was involved with the series bible and it was being made by Sunbow for Nickelodeon before they went bust

The Works, which was in production for well over a decade and produced only about a tenth of the film. That's because it was going to be a wholly 3D computer animation film made in the early '80s.

Among other reasons it was abandoned was the realization that with the technology of the day, it would have taken seven years just to render the finished film. That and a lot of the people who had been working there long enough to understand both the conputer animation process and the industry jumped ship to ILM.

Here's an article about Marvel comic series that were solicited back during pandemic and are in limbo to this day:
>Marvel comics missing in action: Three series that disappeared in 2020 that we're still waiting for
>Three Marvel limited series are lost in the ether - but we haven't forgotten them
>2020 was to have been a big year for comics, and for Marvel Comics specifically, but things happen and plans change. While we're seemingly past the worst of it, there are still several things Marvel planned, announced, and in some cases even began taking orders for, that for one reason or another remain on 'hiatus' with no real understanding of if and when they'll return.
>In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, several announced Marvel comic book series were put on hiatus. Many eventually resumed publication, or the publisher gave an explanation of why the series would not be released. But there are still three Marvel titles floating out there in some kind of purgatory, with us not knowing if they're happening or not.
>That's not to say these particular Marvel titles don't have a possible reason for being MIA. COVID-19 had a chilling effect on the comic book industry, and for a time there were people openly questioning if comic books would resume, instead of when. But by May, all the major comic book publishers resumed their releases and many of the postponed series were re-scheduled and re-released.
>But not these. These three Marvel limited series have been absent from Marvel's post-COVID-19 shutdown schedule, and have gone unmentioned in all announcements from the publisher for nearly two years.
>And while we don't have all the answers, we've collected all the current information in one place - including some comments from individual creators involved - on these titles to remind you what they are, who's involved, and in some cases what's going on.
Anonymous No.150096492 >>150096539
>>150096453
>Since this originally ran back in December, some Marvel MIA titles have reappeared on the schedule (such as The Xcellent, Darkhold, Dark Ages, and WEB of Spider-Man), dropped on us out of the blue (How to Read Comics the Marvel Way), and one has been confirmed canceled (Nebula), but these three remain mysteriously absent.
>Gwen Stacy #3 - #5
>This one is a bit of an oddity, as Gwen Stacy was launched in February 2020 and a second issue came outโ€ฆ then, nothing. >Christos Gage and Todd Nauck's three final issues were solicited but then scuttled in the distribution shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
>While most other ongoings and limited series caught in the middle of an arc were eventually resumed - some only digitally, but still completed - Gwen Stacy stands out in its absence.
>Sources at Marvel tell Newsarama that all five issues of the series have been written and drawn, but they don't have a clear idea of when the book will be solicited.
>The publication date of a collected edition, titled Gwen Stacy: Who's That Girl?, has been recently re-dated for January 13, 2023 through Amazon. Assuming this is correct, Marvel could release the unpublished issues in 2022 in advance of that.
>And when you factor in the upcoming Gwen-Verse limited series, now seems to be the time to finish this limited series if Marvel plans on finishing the series.

>New Warriors
>As someone who's married, I can tell you you never forget an anniversary - and Marvel Comics didn't with their 30th anniversary plans for New Warriors. But then, the pandemic happened.
>Originally announced in January for an April 2020 debut, the New Warriors limited series by writer Daniel Kibblesmith and artist Luciano Vecchio was planning on introducing new New Warriors, with the original crew acting as mentors.
>The series was intended to be part of the crossover event 'Outlawed,' and like New Warriors, that was delayed but eventually came out - just minus this New Warriors title.
>Neither Marvel nor the creators would comment on the status of the series and its future.
>The Punisher vs Barracuda
>Although the Marvel Max line is still in cold storage at the publisher, a Marvel Max-esque 'prestige' five-issue Punisher series was locked and loaded to debut in April 2021 until the distribution shutdown.
>Writer Ed Brisson and artist Declan Shalvey were teaming up to bring the Garth Ennis-created Barracuda out of alternate continuity and into the main Marvel U with this book. The series was in talks for years, and we're told was a bit of a passion project for both the authors.
>At least four of the five issues are completely drawn according to our sources, but with the hiatus, Shalvey has moved on to other projects. Since the hiatus, Brisson's 'exclusive' agreement with Marvel has expired and he's begun branching out with work at other publishers.
>We're hoping the series eventually sees the light of day, but the recent news of a new Punisher series unconnected to this seems to cast a specter on Punisher vs. Barracuda resurfacing anytime soon.
