Anyone else notice her pop up on youtube with a lot of new stuff recently?

I thought she was kinda semi-retired after steven universe but I was sorta pleasantly surprised her stuff pop seemingly out of nowhere after years of radio silence except minor cameos like in amphibia.

There was no way in hell someone with her level of acclaim and popularity was gonna say semi-retired for long, especially when she clearly has a genuine passion for her work.
There's like, an itch at that point. You have a job, you're good enough at that job to get tons of praise and the spare cash to coast on, and sooner or later, you're not satisfied because so much of your life was that job to the point your social life and ability to keep yourself occupied takes a massive hit when you stop

Most artists find a niche and explore it. You experiment when you're younger and a student, but at some point in your career, it's a good idea to find a path and follow it. Most artists will still explore on the side, but the public may not see much of that.
The typical advice is that you want to be the person people go to for a very specific thing instead of being a jack of all trades. If someone wants to order a feel good escapist show, they'll go to Rebecca Sugar, not someone who does it all. And if they want a slice of life with a touch of surrealism show, they'll go to J.G. Quintel, not someone who does it all.
Being versatile is good when you're young and learning since it can help you grow but when you're at the point that you're building a career, it's better to be a specialist.

she and Ian have been soft pitching the idea of continuing Steven Universe. I don't think another show (SU related or otherwise) is out of the question. Pretty sure the IP has just sorta depreciated in value at this point so the networks are gonna hesitate on the trigger. The movie and Future were both meant to be swan songs for the series after the whole "gay wedding" debacle. Say what you want but it's very clear there was someone along the corporate ladder who would have had to go up to bat for them for either of those to even happen considering they were blatantly told that the Wedding episode would lead to cancellation.

Loads of SU fans don't realize the Lars spin-off hasn't actually been greenlit, Matt Braly's film still hasn't gotten its title or estimated release date unveiled, and it's looking like that Adventure Time movie might go the way of Pen's failed attempt a decade earlier.

Every artist was at one time a very angsty teenager, and I think every artist carries a part of that around with them for the rest of their lives. Not in the sense that they're necessarily arrested in development (although some are like that too), but the well of intense emotions you felt at that time is a great resource to tap. We tend to feel things extremely intensely at adolescence due to hormones triggering emotional responses we hadn't previously felt while simultaneously lacking the ability to compartmentalize and cope with those adult emotions yet. I think even the cutesiest of cutesy artists have the ability to go dark.
That said, SU isn't all fun and games and I think glimmers of the same person who made this comic poke through every now and then. I wouldn't mind seeing what would happen if she made a series for adults at some point.

They don't have to. Sometimes the rhymes are internal where the middle parts or middle of words rhyme. Nicki Minaj does this a lot (not the case here). In this case, eschewing the rhyming scheme is kind of a musical "surprise". They do this a decent amount in modern musicals where a rhyming pattern is established and then broken to make the section stand out a bit more. It can make things feel a bit less cliche, but is a trick that needs to be used sparingly.
