Going by how the brand is failing a lot in recent years I don't think people like Ninja Turtles much anymore. Not even Bay could make Ninja Turtles mainstream and he made normies love Transformers.

Ninja Turtles is an old franchise beloved strictly by wrinkled greying aging Loser Millennials. Everyone else seems to be dismissive of the brand. And going by how Seth Rothen is handling the next sequel TMNT movie this brand is not finished being bastardized into ruin. And for all you know after Seth Rogen is done, it will continue being shat on by a new hack maybe a shitty feminist or another Jew. If TMNT at any point was popular those days are loooong behind the franchise.

TMNT fizzled out even faster than Transformers managed to do.

I used to be under the impression the Turtles had a good track record for good adaptations for instance 2003/2012 for instance were good adaptations but ironically they both "died" the same way

>Start out at street level fighting purple dragons/foot clan
>Start leaking into more stranger shit with stockman or Kraang
>Starts to get stranger and stranger scifi concepts
>They go into space and the shows start sucking

Rise was the only one that flopped really fast but honestly? I think they made Rise way to close to when 2012 ended. Sure you had grogs complaining but even the new fans you gained with 2012 werent exactly happy
Anonymous No.150212653

My problem with Rise is not that it's not street-level, I actually like alien/scifi parts of TMNT. And 2012 TMNT were pretty much fighting Kraang since episode 1.
My problem is that it's pretty 1987 on crack and off ADHD meds, so it quickly stops being charming and becomes annoying very fast.

What people think is the normal progression has really never been the case. I think people would really love a more consistent, gradual ramp up, but every fucking series either opens with or waits only a short time before the aliens start showing up. Rise introduced a supernatural undercity full of monsters/mutants in the first episode. 2012 was fighting the Krang in their first. IDW goes only a few issues before introducing Krang, the Technodrome, and then fighting a war alongside the Neutrinos a short while later.

I know that Mikey conceived a child with that triceratops alien in the Mirage run in the '90s, but other than that the Turtles don't get much action. Simple the franchise is castrated into being infantile family friendly trite. So sex and even wholesome reproduction is forbidden. Even Disney allows reproduction in their family movies for crying out loud. There are other roadblocks but yeah the franchise being locked into being super infantile has censored this element.

Even freaking Ben Ten has allowed showing Ben aging and reproducing and having a family in his timeline. And right now many companies are REFUSING to show main characters reproducing because Careers Over Family is the modern cultural trend.

First off, it was well made with appealing characters and cool concepts. The early seasons of the 89 show, the original comic, first movie, and the Konami games all hold up well. The quality was objectively high for a lot of it.

But I think it was also the perfect mix of ideas for the late 80s/early 90s. At the time, a few things were super popular. Marvel comics and mutant super heroes were huge, X-Men was the most popular comic, and TMNT even started as a Daredevil parody. Ninjas and martial arts were also super big culturally back then. At the same time martial arts movies were super popular and cool, also one of the reasons games like Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat took off so much. Ninjas appeared in comics all the time (Wolverine going to Japan, Daredevil fighting The Hand, etc.) as well as everywhere else.

Basically, TMNT was perfect for the time it came out, because it was a mix of all of the coolest stuff in the world back then. In addition to mutation and martial arts, you had robots, aliens, alternate dimensions, and all kinds of other cool things.
>tldr
TMNT was awesome in the perfect way for 80s/90s kids.

And then Ninjas became lame thanks to Naruto. Hey everybody we are Ninjas Who Don't Kill! Lame fucking shit. That also through osmosis affected Ninja Turtles. While the turtles don't have a reputation for always killing Naruto put into perspective that....

Hey wait a minute the turtles are ALSO ninjas who don't kill the villains.....this is kind of lame.

Thank god for Ninja Gaiden for keeping ninjas who kill baddies. During the decade Naruto reigned supreme Ninja Gaiden was a godsend. Speaking of which I'm looking forward to the new game.

It's honestly hard to believe that people can't instantly see the appeal of Ninja Turtles, it's pure fun. On top of all the cool stuff, it's funny and there's pizza and turtles. Everybody likes pizza and everybody likes turtles.

Its easy to NOT see the fun when they keep making the characters progressively uglier and lamer. And I think mainstream wise the thing that made people start rejecting the Ninja Turtles is seeing the UGLY Michael Bay trailer with Michelangelo taking off his bandanna showing his regular face. People went crazy saying memes like how even Shrek looks more handsome. So the ugly factor really started to kill the appeal of Ninja Turtles. Turtles aren't really cool animals. But grab them and make them UGLY anthros? That's a difficult sell.

And Seth Rogen is not helping because they keep making the turtles ugly and shoddy looking. This franchise is rotting. If you make your characters ugly and lame it will not resonate with consumers. Also whoever thought having Michelangelo fart in his brothers' faces during the Bay movies should be shot.

Lame is right. The recent Seth Rogen Ninja Turtles.....the turtles do NOT want to be ninjas. They want to be regular school students who go to school and do homework and junk. That is so....not fun. And they're not even real martial artists since Splinter didn't teach them well (Splinter in the recent movies learned martial arts from social media so he's neither Hamayo Yoshi or a former pet of Hamato Yoshi).

Some weird fucking Archie comics arc where one of the girlfriends lay and egg and there's a whole extended thing about protecting it and getting it back from some villain before the kid is born at the end of the arc and we get a 2nd generation Ninja turtle.

Mirage comics had them in their fucking thirties, drinking beer, living in apartments with their girlfriends, and doing mundane shit. Next logical step is making babies.
