I actually thought the animation for Mark vs Gohan was good

I know a lot of people had problems with it but I thought it was great.

Even if you disagree with Gohan losing, given the power gap between the two it makes sense for Mark to take little damage. It also put Mark in some kind of mentor or elder role to Gohan, and let Mark show how far he had come by defeating someone who had been down the same path as him. He wasn't just fighting Gohan, he was TEACHING Gohan. And I think that's very heartwarming in a way. That Mark would take the lessons he learned and help someone who was just like him.

If this weren't a Death Battle I'm sure they would have ended cordially and taught each other well. The alternate ending is weird, even if heartwarming in its own way. It was nice to see Mark reunite with Rex, but it feels weird to have him just stand there and take that punch.

I haven't watched Gohan's anime though (but after watching the fight I think I might watch a recap on Youtube!) so I might be missing stuff but as a big... fan I thought they did Mark justice and from what I saw they treated Gohan with the utmost respect. What character has ever gotten an alternate ending made just for them?
