It was vaguely working. With the death of Flash, all of the flashes stopped working. Viz did a band-aid fix of recording them (in not great quality) on Youtube, but that wasn't a proper fix. After that, things just stagnated and rotted, so to speak. Images stopped loading for whatever reason at various times, and that continued until the whole thing just died.

From what little they've released today they left in the literal slavery-era racial slur (octoroon, noun - an individual of 1/8 African and 7/8 European descent) that the overbearing UHC slur replacement patch removed, so there's a very real chance the relaunch is going to be uncensored, or at the very least will feature an option to toggle between real and sanitized Homestuck right before the first page to feature one people actually have a chance of recognizing
However, they did remove the embedded link to a Con Air scene on page 20, which implies that any links off-site are going to be removed and the reference material present in them not embedded on-site, probably for copyright reasons - which is asinine when you consider how long Homestuck was fairly using that shit
Come to think of it, one of the reasons for this relaunch may genuinely be to comb through the work for anything potentially copyright-infringing while working on pitching a show to streaming platforms who might not be too enthused about such things, and if that's the case then UHC remains the superior option (there are more reasons why that's the case, obviously, but you get the idea)

So Dirk, Equius, Caliborn and half of Gamzee get sucked into Lil Cal, which through time and space manifests into Lord English. During Openbound 2, Aranea explains Cronus' backstory which is literally just Harry Potter. He was attacked as a baby by an evil wizard with a name that should not be said (Voldemort/Lord English) in order to kill the baby that is prophesied to defeat him (Harry/Cronus) but the spell bounces back, giving the baby the iconic lightning scar(s) and shattered the evil wizard into smaller vessels (horcruxes/"unassuming vessels"). Basically, Lord English tried killing Cronus as a grub, failed, his cluster of souls were seperated to inhabit baby Dirk, Equius, Caliborn and Gamzee and then repeat all that. You know, the whole "Cronus is prophesied to defeat LE" thing was already subverted by having Jake be the first one to beat Caliborn up (both hope players) but in a way, this LE defeat *is* his last one chronologically speaking. So Cronus did fulfil that prophecy

Second is EGOMANIACS https://mspfa.com/?s=42884&p=1 which opens at a breakneck pace. It's about a time player in a null session, where her doomed timeline selves are wreaking havoc. Fun artstyle and animation, pretty punchy, and good if you can't stand the typical long fanventure set up.
Third is My Moirail Is A Rainbow Drinker! (nsfw) https://mspfa.com/log/?s=59808 essentially a goth parody story, riffing off of shit like Twilight and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. Very nice art and character designs, got a chuckle out of me a couple of times. The main jadeblood has big tits if that is something that you like to check off on your rubric before you read something.
I might go trawling for hidden gems with even less favorites later, but finding one that's still updating might be more difficult.

So, I played Hiveswap Act 1 and 2 today.
I have a few thoughts.
Act 1:
Pros - Visuals look really good, animations are smooth and the premise is interesting
Cons - It's really short, the main protagonist (Joey) isn't particularly interesting and is a very generic MC archetype lacking a lot of the personality of the kids from HS. Also everything feels weirdly toned down to saturday morning cartoon levels, even the visuals on Alternia feel 'wrong' too bright and colorful.

Act 2:
Pros - It's significantly longer than Act 1, there's more direct character interactions, the human and troll cultural misunderstandings are pretty fun.

Cons - The extra length comes at the cost of a massive visual downgrade, lower quality animations and visuals compared to Act 1, the characters feel kinda boring and it really doesn't feel like the plot is taking proper advantage of the potential this premise has (by which I mean, instead of properly exploring troll society and doing interesting character work, we get a boring 'the world will explode' plotline that serves no real purpose other than raising the stakes for no reason).
Also Joey's interactions with the other trolls feel kind of, toothless for lack of a better way to put it. Everything we know about troll society says trolls aren't as nice as they are in this game but everyone is just instantly nice to and trusting of Joey for basically no reason (other than that the writers didn't know/didn't care enough to write more fleshed out side characters with their own arcs for the game, so they just skipped that and had everyone be nice and open with Joey from the start for basically no reason).
Also, even though it's longer than Act 1, Act 2 is still too short, if you're going to release/sell the Acts as standalone games, they should be long enough to be standalone games.

All in all, I didn't HATE playing these, but I'm glad I didn't pay real money for them.
Feels like a fun idea to expand the lore that was poorly executed.

Honestly. I really like Prisounebound. It is definitely trying to be its own thing and not apologetic with its religious imagery. Clearly there's going to be a lot of it, and im sure a lot more of it will make sense in the overall story if they really wanted to lean towards it. Right now it does seem rather convoluted and probably takes some degree of understanding its undertones that haven't been yet explained.

Id argue most of the dullness comes from what we already know of SBURBlikes where we aren't figuring out how it works anymore. So, its a repetitive concept weve grown tired of.

I will say the writing is a little dull, but I'm hopeful with the later acts it will be better. The characters are at least interesting (and cute).
