Never really thought about that consciously but you're totally right.
Lee is full on ego, plotting and grandstanding just like Eddy. May is the dumb and (comparatively) nice one who is a bit of a brute, very Ed (honestly that's a cute couple).
Marie I guess is *vaguely* like Double D. She comes across as the smarter, more mature and overall calmer Kanker. While also having that undercurrent of 'but if they lose it they will *REALLY* lose it' thing that makes her the scariest one, and that's pretty Double D.
But yeah the other two don't just share general traits, they really come across as almost gender swapped versions of their crushes. They share the demeanor of their respective Eds, while Marie doesn't act like Double D at all.
I guess in part because Double D's main traits are being passive, polite, rule following etc. it'd not suit with what the Kankers were about?
If you were going to make a Kanker as a dark mirror to Double D I think you'd have to make something of a yandere. Have a shy nervous geeky girl, but when Double D befriends or is just vaguely polite to her then she goes more and more weird on him.
If it had been made today with yandere actually being a thing maybe they've had done that. But that also might have been a bit too 'real'. Having the girls chase the boys while making kissing noises is one thing. Having a girl who invites Double D to her room, then locks the door and starts making all these excuses on why he can't leave would be a very, very different beast.
