You need 3 things:
>the series must be written by the same author/team, from start to end.
>author/team LOVES writing for the series
>The series has to end at some point, a real ending, a good send off and then IT'S OVER
This is how you make it, at least when talking about consistency.

The fact Big Picture Show even hit as hard as it did means its rot was basically non-existent. It was just too stark of a change to go from 4 seasons of hand drawn animation in the summer that prioritized dialog humor, to one season of digital animation during school with more slapstick.
The fifth season was still great.
The specials were incredible.
And the movie was a fantastic finale.
