The Indie voice actors were almost all superior too. Pilot Alastor, Charlie, and Vaggie are all far better. Husk's voice change is the most noticable and it honestly makes him out to be a very different character. With Angel Dust genuinely cannot tell the difference though.

I think with Pentious, it feels like he got redeemed specifically because it was a complete inversion to what happened in his life, he was a recluse who spied on the privacy of others, and was cowardly to stop a murder which led to the death of multiple other people he could be attributed to. But in his dying moments, he got out of his shell, put his life on the line against another mass murderer, and bit the dust doing so, but yet was the driving force to stop that mass murderer.

I'm not arguing it really could be as simple as being EXTREMELY selfless like that, especially because Carmilla probably would have gone to Heaven then if that was the case had she died protecting her daughters, but it feels way too specific that Pentious died doing the EXACT opposite of the key moment that presumably sent him to hell.

The problem is that Season 1 by itself lacks a lot of context without watching the Pilot, so you kinda have to watch the Pilot for the canon show to make sense at all. Also even with big changes like Vaggie now being a fallen angel instead of a latina prostitute, she still spoke Spanish from time to time in Season 1 out of nowhere. Also Vaggie being technically more powerful than Alastor feels kinda weird.

Ultimately agree just in general the show's aggressive use of red is eye straining, but not really an enjoyment killer though even if some of the changes from pilot -> show are barely noticeable even if it's to service just the odd overusage of red.

When it comes to Husk in particular, we're kinda trading off the potential character we could presume from the pilot era to what we got instead. Pilot-Era Husk especially with some background stuff like Crymini, I could presume Pilot Husk originally was gonna have Blitzo's arc with Loona, but since that got depicted already, Viv most likely changed it.
I'll differ and think he's got a better direction now with the background of being an overlord, it justifies why he's stuck to Alastor and where he could potentially regress if given too much to make interesting conflict, but I do get why that shift is a turn off, some pilot direction for characters looked more promising (esp with how Viv made some fan songs semi-canon or referenced them a lot).
But yeah, I only mention both treating them separate and that the pilot is still canon to point out how contradicting it is we do gotta keep the pilot as canon, they even referenced the pilot designs with the Vaggie flashback.
I do really think we need the timeline where they could have ported over more from the pilot-era than what we are getting. But some stuff I honestly get why is so different, they want fresh slates after YEARS of Helluva Boss.
Also though, Episode 3 is presumably just one of the pitch bible episodes so I mean, we really might not actually need more ported over.

I don't hate the series otherwise I wouldn't be watching season 2. Vivz is a post tumblr sperglord and the fanbase is one of the worst in history but the series itself is fine, Vivzieclop just needs to stop treating critics like they are just haters. When you've been around the industry for a bit you end up seeing all the bullshit stuff they do in order to save animation time. That's why I didn't dismiss the very real potential it's potentially also just an objectivity thing about what you did in your life to get to where you end up, but Hazbin presenting a possibility that it's maybe individually dependent (either on TOP of what was already established, or separately depending on if it's a retcon to Helluva) is why it's pretty much up in the air still what approach they're saying is the truth of the matter here.

This is untrue. There are creatives who are good at marketing and creatives who are not. It's just in general people don't know how to market themselves. There's also that hacks feed into the slop that people like, and true creativity is hard. Asking to do something innovative and then also find their corner of the market is asking a lot. Either the product is really good or the marketing is. Also, the matter with the audience is that they really can't tell what's talent or not, or simply don't care.
