A) too much (trying to be topical) and not enough humour
B) kind of just dismisses any kind of frustration or upset men have at the world. Literally tells them to “man up” by just accepting they’re doomed
In particular the central issue with good Hank felt very silly.
>teenage boy is crushing on a teenage girl
>tries to get close to her
>she turns him down
>he no longer wants to hang out with her and is angry at her
Sure, hanks right it’s not cool to get angry at her JUST for not wanting to go out with him.
But Hank also says he should just be her friend anyway.
Maybe men in their 40’s or 50’s can do that. But most guys I know aren’t able to just turn their feelings off if they really like a girl and somehow remain a friend who is in steady communication with them and around them a lot. That’s just asking to be hurt emotionally for no real gain
Very bizarre stuff. Acts like the story is challenging misogyny and ends up just reinforcing male stereotypes about how you have to basically be an emotionless robot or you’re a little bitch
It’s all played for laughs but likewise, what is the short guy who can not get any women because he’s so short meant to do? The answer is obviously just die alone, but that’s cruel to say so reworded nicer
Even just explaining these issues with the episode I can tell a bunch of people will be mad so whatever
