>Who is /fat/ for?
For the enormous ewes working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

Have you considered getting psychological help anon? Either a psychiatrist or an addiction consultant (no idea what they are called in english, the people who help you get off drugs).
If you're considering an heroing, even ironically (for now, you'd be surprised how quickly ironic becomes sincere), it's worth a try.
Back when I went to therapy a part of it was the thought that after it inevitably fails I'll at least be able to say "I tried what I could" and then do the deed with a good conscience. I don't like admitting it because it's a pussy move, but it was part of my motivation.
Turns out therapy fixed me over the course of 1.5 years and I'm better off than I ever thought possible - who knows might be worth a try for you too. Worst case, you can at least say you tried everything in your power first. Best case you'll find a way to make life worth living and have fun while doing so

Willpower is a finite resource, we can only resist for so long. What does your diet currently look like? What are you craving specifically? If you can identify what you're lacking, you might find a low calorie option that will satisfy your craving without binging on slop.

>I hate myself and no kike in a chair is going to change that.
You'd be surprised. I had an intense level of self hatred, it arguably was the main thing that kept me going at that point.
>I couldnt afford it now even if I wanted to.
Well that part sucks. I live in a country where it was free, so I can't say anything about that. My condolences. What about the addiction places? They also help with habit building and healthy ways to cope with withdrawals. Those are usually free because they aren't for profit.

Think of it like this: your fat (of which there is a great surplus) is acting as an insulator. That means you will retain a lot of heat in general. Being outside in the sun, as well as utilizing calories (note the phrase "burning calories"), your body is going to be heating up a lot. In response, you sweat, and you'll have to sweat a lot in your case because of insulating all that heat with your own fat.

If you're in a gym, you'll still sweat, but there will almost assuredly be AC and spaces you can exercise without getting ray-fucked by the sun. So, if you want to give it a shot, go. If you sweat, and you probably will, it's fine, because everyone in there will be sweating too. Just drink water and carry a rag or at least find some paper towel to wipe down the equipment.

Why are you fat fucks not eating Greek yoghurt RIGHT NOW?
>Excellent protein to calorie ratio
>Easily accessible in most markers
>Not overwhelmingly expensive
>Easy to plan out, easy to eat
>Can get all kinds of additions and taste great, offering infinite variety
Skyr and kefir are also acceptable choices. I used to eat entire tubs of yoghurt just because it was so comfy and hit all my macros. They're great when you leave them in a freezer overnight too, because they can thicken up without turning to straight ice, becoming kind of like stiff ice cream if anything.

Why not do a workbook by yourself? The DBT workbook is great. Just view the free pages and see if it resonates.
Alternatively I do a 12 step program but I remove God and focus on self reliance. For example I'm on step 7, asking God to remove my defects. I've got my list of my character defects like aggression, cynicism, resentment, and im supposed to be praying on each until Im willing for God to remove them. Instead, im just thinking about them and why I feel i need them, and I move on to another when im ready to actually give them up and start working on them. I need my perfectionism because it helps me, I dont WANT to be without my need to constantly strive to being the best I can be because without it I feel it means im not trying or I'm giving up. But I'll get there as I keep challenging my mindset. God has done nothing for me. My own resilience and adaptability has.

Most commercial greek yoghurt is actually just normal yoghurt with some liquid drained off. If you drain off even more you get labneh, an s-tier sandwich spread.
That being said, have a look for german magerquark/low fat quark, it has even better macros. In the likely event that they don't have that look for skyr, it was cool a few years ago so now it's pretty widespread. Almost the same macros and a bit smoother (though mixing the Magerquark achieves the same)

Lost enough weight to enjoy dancing and go on runs. Women like me. People in general like me. I still feel like a fatass though.
Too bad i couldn't lose weight earlier so i wasted years if not decades of potentially enjoying life to the fullest

Honestly anon, people really like to shit on medication here, at the end of the day it's just an appetite suppressant, you can literally get the same results from just dieting if you can conjure up a tiny bit of willpower, but if you genuinely think it will help you reach your goals and you have the money to buy that shit every month(not exactly a cheap drug), then just do it. Better a /fraud/ than a fattie.

I have a sweet tooth that is going to give me diabetes eventually and I hate that there is no way that I have found to curb it. Like I go farel sometimes and start tearing up my house looking for anything to take the edge off. His has been an ongoing battle since i was a teenager and I'm 30 now. I've started only leaving my home with my driver's license and no cash/cards to keep me from buying anything from the snack shop at work. My wife however (who is not trying to be /fit/ brings home stuff all the time knowing what the result will be.

I lift 6 days a week on a push/pull split and cardio 3 days a week boxing/running but I dont think I can lose any more body fat without getting a lobotomy.

They use Electrical Impedance, it sends a small electrical current through the body usually through one foot and measures the resistance encountered on the other foot. Muscle, Skin, Fat, Bone, Water ect will all have different resistance values but generally fat will resist the current more than muscle will so if it gets higher resistance readings it'll assume you have more fat on you.

Its a really imprecise way to measure body composition because there are so many factors boiled down into a single reading and no way to determine the exact composition of each, its really just guessing blindly based on one data point.

DEXA scans are currently the gold standard for body composition, those work by sending two different X-Ray beams with varying energy levels through the body which are absorbed by different tissues at different rates and mapping this across your body, this gives a much clearer picture of what exactly is going on inside you.

I get why it may be tempting to have some protein shake things when you're suffering for protein. Personally, I'm hesitant to do something like that because I want some micronutrients to work with too. I'd note which kind you'd buy at least, since some variations can be much better than others. I personally think getting unflavored stuff is best, since you can just add a 0-cal sweetener (like stevia) and/or additions you like to make your own flavors with less sugar calories.

Quark would be nice, but it's not nearly as readily available (I don't think I can find it at most local grocers). For me, skyr is available at some select places, but notably more expensive unfortunately, so I rarely have it. Based alternatives either way. I'd like to try labneh someday.

I'd double that at a minimum, just having a glass of water or taking a piss before measuring yourself can throw it off by that much. Hydration level plays a huge role in your resistance, so if you want it to think you've got less fat drink a bunch of water before you measure yourself, and dehydrate yourself if you want it to think you're really fat.

Usually when I snack I don't really think about it and end up with something massive, definitely an addiction, and always end up asking myself why I didn't stop myself afterwards. Tonight I realised this mid way curating a midnight feast and was able to repackage the food and leave my kitchen without grabbing too much too eat (already had a tiny thing when I got there since obviously I can't stop myself). I am sort of happy I was able to stop myself from grabbing more and I hope I will realise it again in the future but it is something I struggle with a lot.

I know the basic physics behind it. Hence why I always measure myself in the morning right after I pee, but before I drink anything.

Which is how you should weigh yourself anyway.
If you step on the scale before peeing but after chugging down a bottle of water, you'll be 1-3 lbs heavier just from that.

Obviously sodium intake etc. is going to mess with it as well.

Just finished another 3+ day fast and lost another 2.2 pounds. Eating after a prolonged fast is always disappointing. For all the time you spend thinking about it, you get very full after a small amount of food and it never tastes as good as you would expect.

I'm down ~11 pounds of fat in the last month and a half. Probably going to stop doing prolonged fasts soon because they're getting harder and I'm getting close to my target bodyfat %

Just got mine done, my back is aching thanks to the weighted vest I need to sit down for a bit. When I started my back would kill me after just 3k steps and it took me months to work up to 10k. I had just recently gotten to the point where walking 10k steps didn't hurt my back, but the vest has brought it back. Guess this is progressive training.

>>76368602
Same, but I'm only down ~150lbs and I'm disgusted by my loose skin, and yeah I recently bought compression clothing. Not to keep people from seeing the skin flaps, I don't give a fuck about that, but to stop the skin flaps from clapping when I run which is noisy and uncomfortable.

You have been tracking your weight for 13.1 months.

You have 26.6 lbs to lose to reach your goal weight.

You will reach your goal around October 16, 2025.

I'm considering it though I don't have any means to pay for it. I've still got plenty of weight to lose first, 30lbs more at least, and I'll see how much I'm left with if I can lose the rest and keep it off a year. They say the skin will tighten up a bit if I manage to keep it off for a year after losing it. This time last year I hadn't even started losing weight yet, I only started in September. Ultimately that's a problem for future me and I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Right now I'm still focused on losing the fat.

I don't have any before pictures, I avoided cameras all the years I spent as a shut-in, but I do have the pants I started with, these just barely fit me when I started losing weight, I was on the very last loop on the belt and even then it was pretty tight.

For fatty cuts of meat, how do you count the calories?
For example bacon is absurdly high in calories imo at anywhere from 300 to 500 something calories per 100g, but a LOT of fat is rendered when you cook it, so how would you take that into account?
Same with duck breast or porkchops etc.

>OH BUT YOU FEEL MUCH BETTER AND MORE LIGHT BLA BLA BLA
BUT YOU HAVE TO GIVE UP YOUR GLUTTONY
ONE OF THE MOST FUN THINGS IN LIFE IS EATING
FOR WHAT??? TO LOOK LIKE A DEFLATED GARBAGE BAG?

bro unironically get skin removal surgery.
i looked a lot like you do now except i have way less muscles and the difference is night and day. im glad my healthcare provider paid for arms+thighs+belly but i have to pay my tits out of my own pockets.
not only will it boost your confidence, it will also ease the pain of chaffing while walking / running.
keep up the good work man, really nice to see

I'm not stopping until 15%bf I need to prove to myself I have control over the situation. I've accepted that the actual "goal" is long-term maintenance at a healthy body weight. So I'm less attached to the specific number and more just never being overweight again.
Leaving obesity (which I've been my entire adult life) will be a nice change.
I'm hoping I'll be in a relatively good state by the end of next year. (Hence the name)
Considering I'm down from 570+ (only started fatty contest after losing 50) I already feel transformed for the better. I've gone from entirely useless to a fair bit less useless.

if you're very serious about it, you can do it like this: add your oil to the pan before you cook the meat (or oil the pan by starting with rendering fat off the fat cap, or you can start the pan dry or with a bit of water in the case of bacon) and then when cooking is done use a rubber spatula to get all the oil out of the pan and measure how much is there, then subtract that from the total calories.

however, that's a fuckton of work, so unless you're cooking a shit ton for meal prep or you're extremely anal, just log the calories as they appear on the packet or cook some once, see how much is rendered and subtract that from your total, and then cook it to that level of doneness every time, but the latter also makes logging your calories a bit harder.

there's other solutions like using your leftover bacon grease to scramble eggs so you consume all the fat and don't have to worry about what's left behind and shit like that

you probably shouldn't be eating a shit ton of fatty meat anyways so at least you won't deal with this often

Btw, how possible is it to go from my current estimate of 100kg to 70-65 to christmas? I'll try my best to only break the diet I self imposed for my upcoming birthday, my country national holiday and the general western holidays (Chrismas and nye)

It happens, you can minimize it though.

Collagen peptides, retinol cream, vitamin C, and more other anons can name off.

I used the 3 I listed, 100 pounds lost with only a tiny bit of loose skin around my triceps I can fill in.

If its not too bad, mini tuck aren't expensive either, less than a beater car these days.

I weight food that loses mass post cooking and food that gains mass (noodles, perogies, most things boiled) before cooking.

I prioritize consistency and I don't want to think a food is bad because I got a bad cut. I don't care about accuracy because it doesn't matter. If that duck breast was actually +200 calories than what I thought it was then the scale doesn't move. If the scale doesn't move then I cut 200 calories. It is TDEE is entirely about planting a marker and the moving away from it. Most people get their TDEE wrong anyways. So what, start with a number and then start cutting calories from there if it isn't working.

tl;dr meats post cooking

Calculate (7700 kcal/kg * kg to lose) / days to estimate the daily calorie deficit that you would need to achieve it. Looks like it would be something like 1500 kcal/day, which is a lot.

>100kg to 70-65
that's 66 pounds in a little over 4 months, or 15 pounds a month
it's possible but unrealistic. You'll have to do an extreme caloric deficit (800-1000 cals a day under your regular intake) or prolonged rotating fasts (not eating for 2-3 days at a time, refeeding 2-3 days, then not eating again)

- Mualle (vegetable stew with lentils, you get like 2 kgs of food and very few kcals)
- stir fry (endlessly variable and very much volume)
- Mediterranean vegetables with fish filet

For stir fry, fry the protein and veggies, then make a sauce that consists of 1-2 tsp starch, broth powder, cold water and mix. Maybe a tsp of sugar, but that's not needed. Mix the sauce and pour it over the veggies, then stir vigorously for 10-20s or so. Due to the starch it'll thicken and coat all veggies in that typical asian stir fry coating. To change things up consider adding ginger, garlic, onions sauce, oyster sauce, miso, curry paste, black pepper, orange juice+ketchup, or whatever else you fancy (individually not all at once).

I've still got a ways to go, I'm probably still like 25~30% bf or more, there's plenty of fat in those sagging sacks of skin. When I'm down to a normal weight and lost most of the fat I'll consider it. I was planning on keeping the weight off a year before I considered doing anything drastic like surgery though.
>>76369360
I've been taking collagen peptides and vitamin C pretty much since I started losing weight, I don't really think it did much to help my loose skin situation. Certainly makes my finger nails grow faster though, I have to clip them weekly now, before I used to clip them monthly. It might have helped somewhat but its not going to work miracles, I could tell early on I was going to have a lot of loose skin.
>>76369311
I do lift, 4 times a week since I started, but I don't think any amount of lifting will fix the loose skin, even if I packed 40lbs of muscle on I'd still have plenty of loose skin. I've made a lot of progress as a complete novice but its probably not very visible under all the fat and loose skin but my numbers have gone up a lot since I started and they're still going up, though much slower now than previously.

Just got on Zepbound. Down from 270 to 255 in 7 days. I've been hydrating like a mofo and have lifted about 4 hours total this week. Hopefully it's not too much muscle loss.

Any tips for meals to make? I've had zero appetite and have mostly been living on 42g Fairlifes, Miso Soup packets, Duke's Shorty Sausages, and Laughing Cow cheese wedges with a few mini saltines to scoop it up. I'll normally grill up like 2-3lb of chicken on Sunday's and use those in things throughout the week, but even something that heavy makes me queasy.

I always had too much appetite. But I had a mesmorphg phenotype and I played multiple sports and was very active as a kid. Graduated high school with a Chad physique from playing football and offseason workouts. But I could just put away the food. Like I remember going to BBQ and eating 5 hamburgers and being embarrassed when they were like โ€œwhere did the burgers goโ€.

Then in college I got even more f/fit/. I dieted and lifted hard. Then once I graduated college it was just death by thousand cuts where I became less active and lost the motivation to fight my appetite day in and day out. From 25-31 I steadily gained weight every year with brief yo-yo dieting interruptions

The details of my life are quite inconsequential.... Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize; he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament... My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon... luge lessons... In the spring, we'd make meat helmets... When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds โ€” pretty standard, really. At the age of 12, I received my first scribe. At the age of 14, a Zoroastrian named Vilmer ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum โ€” it's breathtaking... I suggest you try it.

Yeah good skincare only gives you a slight reduction, but that's better than nothing.

It's also important how long you were big, how big, how fast you lost it, and genetics.

I do think it helped me enough to avoid needing a mini tuck, saving me thousands for maybe a few hundred dollars of supplements.

Also the collagen helps your joints recover, good for obese walkers.

You are doing amazing man, I hope you can get surgery. Maybe try a gofund me later, make a tiktok and write up your story to advertise it there.

I made a gofund me for my cats vet bills and people actually helped me, I was shocked.

I know it's cringe, social media sucks, but could help you later.

Having that reaction to food will help you on becoming a normal healthy person. An obese piece of shit would stuff themselves near puking status and enjoy every second of it no matter how shit the food was.

I started logging after 6 mo of keto, 248 is actually on the extreme end of light for my adult life.
Obviously my weight during covid was higher than average but I think that applies to a lot of us.
I am happy with my progress so far, I hope to be under 240 this year, which would be an ATL the same year we had our first baby. I would consider that a win.

Nah
I remember being 400 lbs
Unable to walk around for a couple minutes without being sweaty and out of breath was hell
Not being able to fly without extreme anxiety and buying an extra seat
Being constantly ashamed to be seen

Horrible-looking (out of clothes) and healthy and able is way better than horrible-looking (all the time) and barely able to live

Sure it fucking sucks compared to what could've been if you never did it to yourself but there's no point in making that comparison because its not an option, it just keeps you stuck and coping in the objectively worse existence

Very similar to you, my man
I've been watching your similar progress in fatty Contest
The loose skin and titties are fucking me up too
But it's better than staying how I was
Also spent 14 years being a shut-in using apathy and food to cope
Came out of it to start fixing my body and now I'm trying to progress other shit like getting into talking to women and starting to claw my way back into employment and a career. And trying to stave off mental collapse from the weird brain shit that peeling back a decade+ of apathy causes.
Goddamn is it hard
But you just gotta keep momentum
Which unfortunately I'm struggling with as I've been stalled for two months
Lifting and cardio continues strong but I fucked up by reintroducing alcohol to cope with the mental shit that cropped up
Would not recommend

T. Big Frigate

PS looking back at this pic the titties are a bit more deflated now despite only being 2 lbs lighter
Good to realize theyre still decreasing at least, gotta recommit to the deficit so I can get there

yeah but that's my point, my brain is unhijacked even on 12.5mg/wk of tirz. I am as hungry as ever and I still think about food nonstop. why the fuck does it not work on me when like >>76369819 points out even braindead roasties just magically stop thinking about food after their first shot. And I got this shit from Tracy pre-shutdown so unless the hundreds of thousands of other roidbros who ordered from the same source are injecting bunkum, I'm pretty sure it's legit tirz. I put the fork down but five minutes later I pick it back up because I'm obsessed with food every second of the fucking day and nobody has that much willpower to resist 24/7. I'm just tired of funneling all my mental energy towards this one sisyphean task for years and years, never making durable progress, and now insult to injury every fucking randoid normoid fatty retard who never tried in their life gets a free ride to slimville while I'm stuck behind shooting maximum dosages of this miracle weight loss drug and it does shit and fuck for me. I still get the fucking sides though. gas. lightheaded. insomnia.

Peptides are fragile. If you didnโ€™t refrigerate it that can mess it up or if they got super hot in the shipping process. Thatโ€™s if they were ever real to begin with. I kind of doubt you are just immune to GLPs. Yours must be fucked or you have psychological issues making you still eat like I could see a type of OCD making a person still eat with no appetite. Same kind of OCD produces the kind of alcoholics who will drink mouth wash

Fiber makes you retain water, you're losing fat still.

Considering fiber makes you feel more full, it's worth it to hold some temporary water weight.

I mean my gym is free through my job, I live in a very very hilly area, and I got rid of my car to
1. Save a shit ton of money. No more car payment, no insurance, no gas bill, no inspection, no registration or tags, no tires to change, no random stupid expensive repairs, no stupid speeding/parking tickets.
2. Get a ton more activity in. Everything i NEED is within 5 miles of me, I can walk or ride my bike to work just fine, walk to the grocery store and i can only buy what I can carry home. If I want to go to the park, and cafรฉ, go have an ice cream downtown, I have to walk there up and down the hills and carrying all my water i need in my backpack.

I mean im at a point where Ive been sober just shy of 9 months, before that date i had 6 months, before that date I had 4nonths. The last two slips are nowhere near as bad either, the alcoholics equivalent of buying a 6 pack of beer and getting drunk VS the old way that was downing multiple liquor bottles a night. Still a slip but damn its gotten so much better. I just like the therapy work of it. Really getting to know myself and decide who and how I want to be.

At first, I got fat because I was depressed and food was one of the few things I could enjoy in life. Also I am autistic with social anxiety and sensory issues so I never felt the need to go outside and do things so I just stayed inside on my computer all day. I was one of the weakest guys by a large margin in my high school gym class. I thought about getting fit but I also had twenty other things on my mind at the time. Then during college I just thought it would be cool if I got fit. Finally I said fuck it and I started off with some basic calorie counting. Then I got really into it and read up on all of the /fit/ info and lost 45lbs. I felt better than ever, but college classes got worse and then covid happened and everything spiraled downward. I lost track of my routine, my college dreams fell apart, and regained most of my weight. It took me a few years to find myself again and recover from depression afterwards. Then I slowly started dipping my weight back down again based on what I learned while dieting. Then I started seeing a doctor and learned how badly my heart health has gotten from that period so I decided to commit back to dieting. My goal now is to return back to my previous record low and continue onward to finish what I started.
