Your back must be all tense and cramped up or something. Should feel good, letting your spine hang relaxed and decompress. Feels good on my shoulders too and nice stretch in my lats.

Why is so much dead hang content being created all of a sudden? What started this recent popularity? Did some Marvel character mention it in the newest movie or something? I have seen like 6 different dead hang videos recommended on YouTube in the past 2 weeks.

You should try the neck training variation of the deadhang. Tie a rope around your neck, then to the bar, and lower yourself until the rope is taut. One set to failure will get massive neck gainz and also decompress your spine to make you look taller.

Deadhangs are mainly a posture corrective exercise.

You're feeling temporary relief from it because you're stretching muscles you normally can't.

Longterm you feel better because your posture has become better. Unfucking the humpback and shoulder mobility.

Passive deadhangs are just as dangerous as heavy deadlifts because you are dealing similar type of strain on the discs, just the other direction.

Active deadhangs, meaning all muscles engaged to strain the muscles instead of discs, is the proper way.

that's always been how research works, though.
you can't just say X is true because it's obvious, duh. you have to prove it. and sometimes the obviously true thing will turn out not to be true at all.
like, if you drop two objects with vastly differnt weights from the same height. like a bowling ball and a car. it'd seem obvious the heavier one will hit the ground first. but it doesn't. they fall at the same speed and hit the ground at the same time. it's only when air resistance gets significant, like when dropping a feather, that the lighter object gets slowed down more and will hit the ground later.
