This always a thing once GPU vendors start to resort to factory-sanctioned overclocking. YMMV. Only obsessive min-max-fags are losing their composure over it.

Support for NVIDIA Blackwell Architecture GPUs
Premiere Pro now supports NVIDIA Blackwell GPU acceleration for 4:2:2 video, unlocking fast playback performance. 4:2:2 video delivers twice the color detail of 4:2:0 with only a modest increase in file size, making it ideal for precise color grading, cleaner chroma keying, and crisper text rendering. Editors using NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs can take full advantage of accelerated 4:2:2 playback.

95 C to 75 C with a 2% reduction in performance (100 -> 98 FPS) is not a downgrade
if AMD allowed you to undervolt the memory (like you can do with MPT on 6000 series) then hynix chips might be the undisputed winners, but right now it's a matter of where your priorities lie (and let's be honest, you're never gonna notice the difference anyway)

Some $7 rgb cpu coolers from ali express arrived. Small and flimsy. Guess it's better than stock coolers on some old pcs but wouldn't buy again I don't think.

I also bought 2x 2 packs ("2 pieces") of something and only 2x1 arrived. Luckily only worth like two bucks each.

Overall I estimate I've been scammed or oversold on 6-8% of ali express/temu purchases. Not too bad.

Anyone know how a B350 motherboard acts if using a newer CPU without updating the BIOS? After putting my 3600 in, the motherboard's red mood light turned on, but pressing the power button does nothing. Would be nice to know if this is expected behavior or if the mobo is fucked.

Blogpost following:
Am building a cheapo extra computer and got hoodwinked by some ebay punk selling me an Asus Prime B350 Plus mobo which I suspect he pulled off a PC he swiped from the dump. Guy refused to tell me what the last CPU used in the motherboard was (told me he was selling it for a """friend""") and when it arrived the CPU socket had the latch broken off and traces of glue left where the plastic had broken. I was able to drop my 3600 in and get it to lock after some fiddling, thankfully.
Computer won't start though. No signs of life except the motherboard red light turning on. I assume the BIOS was never updated and I'm gonna have to get a Ryzen 1000 series CPU (or an EEPROM programmer) just to update it, since this was made before BIOS flashback was a thing.

what I do is open notepad and find the max rpm for every fan at 3 noise levels:
1) just audible, quiet room, headphones off
2) max tolerable/not annoying, quiet room headphones off
3)just audible, headphones on
picrel is the curve on two of my gpu fans
similar to other fans/groups
besides this you have to balance the intake/exhaust to get the pressure you want, I go for positive so the filtered intakes always total higher airflow than the exhausts

That's a good idea, but I don't really mind the noise that much, when I installed the program and went through the self-test, by 70% the fans' noise was decent enough. I also live in an area that gets pretty hot during summer and I don't have an AC in my room (yet), so my priority is to keep this thing appropriately cool.

not that weird depending on your motherboard
for me mismatches start at ~3966 MHz (but since most AM4 chips can't run such high synced FCLK stable anyway it doesn't matter)
2T might be worth it but you're gonna have to test that yourself (1T probably not possible)
>>105582611
>Everything is set manually, just couldn't get CAS Latency down
then it's probably caused by the relation between tCL, tCWL and tRDWR/tWRRD
as the difference between tCL and tCWL gets smaller you need to increase tWRRD and decrease tRDWR
try tCL 16, tCWL 16, tRDWR 8, tWRRD 2
you can try increasing tRDWR and tWRRD more, they aren't critical for performance
>What should I set VDDDP to?
1.0 V
which also means you need to increase VSOC to compensate
i would do 1.1 V SOC, 1.0 V VDDP, 0.9 V CCD, 1.0 V IOD
make sure your chip is truly stable at 1900 FCLK by running the OCCT combined CPU+RAM test

my noise approach also takes care of dust
for me it wouldn't be worth the 3-5C lower temps between idle and high load because the filters would have to deal with 3x more dusty air volume (just guessing)
for other tweaks it depends on your hardware
for example my cpu cooler has a beefy heatsink that almost touches the gpu but the fan is almost quiet even at full load, so I set the cpu fan curve to use the max temp of every sensor (you can add a custom sensor in fancontrol that takes the max of others you select)
another quirk of my setup is the gpu has a blow through backplate and a control for the single third fan that blows through that hole, and it blows right over the RAM while also feeding into the cpu's fan, so I set that one to the same "max" custom sensor
these are all sub 5C difference things but if you're tinkertrannying might as well go all in
Anonymous No.105582742 [Report]
>>105582662
The concepts should be mostly the same though. Set your fans based on the hottest thing emitting heat. I don't use fan control but my basic approach is to load up a benchmark and set the curve so the temp is under control at max load and gets there mostly linearly from idle.
I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

>But I was having some trouble finding the right drive strengths and/or RTTs
yeah i don't have any good advice for that
you need to run settings that are borderline stable and try different combinations to see how the kit responds
for me 40/40 ClkDrvStr/AddrCmdDrvStr are by far the best for this setup, the rest doesn't really matter

heat is wattage, you can think of the pc as effectively a space heater of however many W it's pulling every second
if you don't want to cook alive in the room lower the pc's wattage. undervolt, framerate cap, lower settings, power cap
if it's mostly idle make sure your idle wattages are in check (shitty software can add 10-50w just sitting, same for stupid jeetware performance tips like disabling power saving features for 0.2% benefit)
a watercooled pc sitting at 45C yet pulling 500w will heat your room exactly the same as the same pc hitting 80C pulling the same 500w

Firstly I'm assuming this ram is not soldered, but can't work out the mechanism to release it. Possibly lift then pull?

DO NOT USE AUTO DRIVER INSTALLER! Download from your mobo's support page and install manually only the drivers you need and maybe the ASRock motherboard utility and the comfy "Restart to UEFI". I got my new video card but it would not latch properly. Then I discovered that my old video card also did not latch properly but still ran and I somehow never noticed. Apparently my motherboard's heatsink blocks my GPUs from installing properly. I removed the heatsink from the motherboard and it locks into place just fine but that leaves the motherboard without a heatsink.

So I guess I need a new motherboard. And if I am going that far I might also get a new CPU.

So what new motherboard should I get? USA and the computer will ONLY be used for gaming. I have a media PC already. So I just need the PC version of a console pleb but I don't need to go overboard. I just want to vidya. So budget is not really a major point but I don't want to overspend for what I need.

Current CPU is a RYZEN 7 3700X but I can upgrade that as well if needed.

I'm thinking I'm thinking, got some primer and spray paint at the very least if not some spare pieces of wood to tack on to an existing chassis so I could try to do some of it myself.
>brass case
It would certainly go well with one the lamps, though it might be wise to limit that to legs if the case has those. The other choice is just going with whatever beige box you can find (I'm personally a fan of having front bays of both sizes) or repainting a black box into beige with some little nick-knacks attached. Would probably go just as well with this desk if it sat next to it or on top of it.

In my experience it doesn't actually matter as long as you go for the 'reasonable sweetspot' settings, like 3200 or even 3600MT/s on AM4 and 6000CL30 on AM5. I even have 4 DIMMs from 2 different kits in one of my AM4 systems and it still does 3200 with no issue. If you want to OC memory or hand-tighten timings or use 4 DIMMs (on AM5 especially, just stick with 2) then you might need to start doing more in-depth research but if not then it should be fine. It's still not technically guaranteed so you could still end up with a complete lemon of a memory controller on the CPU which just won't do it, but odds are it's going to work fine.

I'll probably buy this once my 5090 arrives next week. This seems like a good 4k monitor.

yup, both i check only 16g variants. not doing any ai, dont know what cuda is for, i just want to be able to play at 1080p/1440p resolution, and i want just normal experience not necessarily in new titles - but also to run older games smoothly. i heard nvidia has some problems with physx removal from never series or something - i kinda want to able to play whatever came out before current year too

if you are certain that you don't give a fuck about CUDA stuff or AI, then yeah the AMD option is the better value for games assuming drivers are stable and w/e. in games, the 5060TI is only like 6% faster than the 9060 xt 16gb

thanks anons, will go 9060 then. would love to go 9070xt but these stupid prices are literally 2x. and prices between 9070 and 9070xt make it pointless to go for regular 9070. i think i'd rather change these mid-level gpus every now and then

How come paint comes off commonly used keys in months on some keyboards while others don't give a fuck and can last years? I have a decade-old gaymen kb where only LCtrl is completely gone because I sometimes neglect to clip nails and scratch it, and the rest are mostly fine. How do I make sure the next one I buy is at least as "durable"?

since I have not shit posted here constantly in the past year or so as the CEO and founder of the OLED Shit List, I will explain to you briefly my beef with OLED monitors

Firstly, Oled TVs have existed longer than monitors, they are not as retarded as monitor manufacturers, since they invented the fucking tech, oled pixel refreshes are handled in the background invisible to the user and usually runs when you shut off the tv after it has accumulated enough ours, although there have been some fuck ups with tvs too where it does not work like this

Moving on to the monitor side, Now people started implementing the refresh cycles and what not according to spec, the retarded manufacturers/firmware designers thought it was a good idea to have a pop up every 4 hours, that could however be extended or moved up to more hours, eventually leading forced refresh every 16 hours at worse, if they are retarded that is, any monitor that behaves like this ends up in the shit list

The other manufacturers choose to not have a 16 hour accumulated forced refresh and simply handle these refreshes invisible to the user in the background, can't verify completely as you need to run these monitors 16h+ to verify, but I am guessing it works like that, most people can't handle real usage

now you might say that 16 hours is enough and nobody needs to run their monitor that long continuously, you are wrong, even msi bent the knee and are extending it to 24 hours in their newer models because they realize I am right and they are retarded, secondly, firmware does not work as expected and the counter does not operate as it should or even activate a pixel refresh correctly in standby, meaning, the 16 hour counter will end up fucking up and annoying you at random times

adding to the problem most reviewers are too casual/paid to even mention this
this is the no1 problem plaguing (Certain) oled manufacturers

even the non misbehaving ones also have buggy firmware in some instances too
