You're just like the idiot I met running a register at Little Ceasers. Who went on a rant no one wanted to hear while we were waiting to buy our slop. Spent minutes yammering on about the fact that iPhones were unhackable and how now the FBI couldn't figure out he was selling pot when he told customers to meet him through txt messages.

Pretty sure the FBI didn't need to read his txt messages to know he sold pot. He reeked of it and cheap pizza. He offered to sell me a bag without ever meeting me before. I was going to warn him that all phones are backdoor'd anyway but he pissed me off with his unwarranted smugness that I decided to just let nature take its proper course.

faceid - because it's standardised it works with almost everything, including banking apps. pretty game changing. android will never have anything close to it due to the wide variance of software and hardware
works fantastically with other apple devices
airplay is extremely widely supported
airdrop is far better than quick share
longer support than any android device i'm aware of
y'know when girls say android gives them the ick, it's because iphones do offer you ~genuine~ quality of life of actual worthwhile features you use everyday over android. if you care about muh specs or muh price / performance - that's the ick

everything about it is more simple and accepted (e.g. Apple Pay) because its just one OS with one hardware. On top of that the cameras are very good, especially video, which in todays world is very important.
Another reason might be that Apps are generally much better on iOS because of stricter guidelines, not really the fault of Android but iPhone users definitely think apps feel "cheaper" on Android. An example would be Twitter/X.

Get a firmware update that also doesn't install bloatware like candy crush without my permission.

There are a lot of people like me who would love to switch to Android, but I'm not giving Google all my personal contacts and putting up with their gay jewish hyper-monetization practices. At least when Apple spies on me, they don't make it so fucking inconvenient.

It's not a question of a simple bullet point list of features on paper, it's about the experience and the overall feel. It's like saying why get a lexus when you can just get a hyundai with the same features. iPhones are frequently praised for their comprehensive support, encompassing everything from a vast array of cases and travel features to integrated health and wallet functionalities. This ecosystem also offers superior software and app polish, often appearing prettier and operating more securely, which fosters familiarity for both personal and professional use. A key differentiator lies in Apple's better first-party peripherals like the Watch and AirPods, alongside a strong emphasis on privacy and a lack of bloatware. Users benefit from longer software support, excellent resale value, and the excitement surrounding keynotes, ensuring day-one, seamless updates and robust Apple Store support. The iPhone experience is enhanced by easier family features, better options for non-WhatsApp users, and reliable iCloud backups and syncing, with first-party apps more seamlessly integrated. Furthermore, Apple excels in accessibility features, photo offloading, and innovative technologies like satellite messaging, MagSafe, and private email and relay. Unique functionalities like AR capabilities (lidar, measure, level), the customizable camera control button, built-in visual voicemail, the dynamic island, and the extensive Find My network further solidify the iPhone's distinct advantages.

If you're more familiar/comfortable with Android, be aware that each iteration of iOS becomes more Android-like as time passes. You probably know the reason why if you know anything at all about Apple and Google in general.

As for 'what makes an iphone special' and popular, Android has always been more popular afaik. Anyway Jobs made iPhone what it WAS.So yeah.

Anyway, both and ALL at the point 'smart phones' are running some variant of Unix, which of course was developed by AT&T wayyy back in the day so any backdoor mentions apply to all machines of the like. SO on and so on, smartphones are old shit at this point and I'm not as impressed with them as I was almost 2 decades ago. Fine devices, Apple iPhones. I have not used any of the 'premium' Android devices so I can't comment on their potential. Blah blah blah...

Hardware, iMessage, app ecosystem, iOS at least gives the impression of security and that Apple isn't going to sell your data. Pixel hardware is usually nice and they can't do much about iMessage adoption, but I don't trust Google at all about privacy. Also I always recommend Apple to older people and those not into tech because it's much harder to hose an iOS install. If you've ever helped an older person with their Android phone it's a fucking disaster half the time with launcher replacements injecting ads everywhere and making the phone unusable. I've also noticed that older folks are very confused by Google's cloud storage system.

You are comparing $999+ flagships with $200 chinkware. Google's and Samsung's flagships also don't come with bloatware that need to be disabled, and from my experience the out of the box experience with all recent samsung flagships is on par with apple's.

Btw warning for other android users, the mtp solutions to transfer android stuff to linux are shit. Be very careful when you try to backup your photos and whatnot. Some of them may not show up inexplicably. Some of them may just fail to transfer. All without error silently. You won't notice if you have many files and photos in your phone.

The workaround is to use ftp. It's much more reliable.

Had both, always found that Apple devices tend to not have apps that 'unexpectedly stop working' and shut down on me. Also the camera is typically better for social media and the battery lasts longer. It's just a better phone.

Also, it sets the pace. Remember when everyone laughed at Apple for removing *insert new thing they removed*, and then suddenly the Andjeet starts to do the same?

I just switched to an iPhone from a Galaxy and I hate it. The most noticeable difference is the quality of the display. The iPhone display is unresponsive and barely visibly in direct sunlight unless you crank the brightness up all the way. I still have my old Galaxy and whenever I use it I immediately feel the difference in the responsiveness of the touch screen. Also the way iOS handles notifications is straight up retarded.

I live in the third world. Pic related is the South American version of Amazon, and this is the official page for Apple.
They are selling an iPhone 13, a phone released in 2021, for almost 3 months of minimum wage.
And you know what? IT FUCKING SELLS because poor people think that having a retarded iPhone, which was arguably already outdated at the launch (Apple can't keep up with the Chinese innovation since Jobs died), is worth getting in debt. People spend an entire year paying for an outdated phone to "feel rich". I am not making this shit up.

I can afford it because I work for foreign companies, but I refuse to look like them. iPhones in the third world are a symbol of stupidity. A joke, like those Africans dressing in bright colours with shoes that are worth more than their shacks where they live.

Around ~2014 or so OEMs started making android slower on purpose. I use to buy cheap androids and they were very fast. I literally thought "why would anyone buy an expensive phone this is great". Less than 5 yrs later every cheap android I use drags ass. I even started spending more money on them, didnt help, absolutely slow. Installed a monitor and I can see the CPU gov is refusing to scale it up (Samsung Galaxy phone).

the worst part is that it ruined the landscape of phone innovation/design. being unique is not a risk anyone is willing to take. looking like an iphone is the only thing that matters. every phone is glass, monolith, with brushed metal accents, fuckhuge rear camera lenses, retarded pinhole punch front camera, zogbot design. unnecessarily massive. i hate that the only moderate sized phone choices in the current year that are usable is the iphone mini or the small version of the pixel. unless you live in a based asian country where they still actually make different kinds of phones than just iphone clone.

You do know how the SEP actually works right? You could either have a backdoor while the phone is unlocked (fucking useless) or the SEP would need to have a backdoor built in which stores your full decryption key (this would be the closest guarded secret the Feds wouldn’t even give to Israel let alone burn on a lowly peasant like any of us). iPhones use your password + a long random key (that gets forgotten if too many decryption attempts are made) to decrypt your data. Considering the extent of SEP exploits and reverse engineering done, this backdoor would also need to be a more recent addition as it does not show up in older device models that have had major SEP vulnerabilities

Undo
It's really annoying that this is completely overlooked on Android, it literally doesn't exist on phones. The feature is implemented, so if you have a keyboard connected, ctrl z works, but there's no interface for it on phones. On an iPhone, you can shake the phone to undo.

Above all else they look and feel better, the software is vastly superior, all part of a coherent ecosystem of interconnected things, the iPhone itself is just one part of a broader, coherent ecosystem; if you use a Mac, the iPhone and its software are more seamlessly connected with your computer than with an Android and Windows, let alone Linux. Microsoft and Google just buy other projects and rebrand them, nothing works together, nothing is coherent, it's an annoying mess. The appeal of the iPhone is that it feels purposefully designed, not cheap and idiotic.

I have a cheap crap android phone for lunix functionality that I occasionally need which isn't available on iphone like wifi spectrum analysis, but iphone covers 100% day to day with ease

it's funny how in US the iphone is under a microscope in all the news drama about any flaws, "you're holding it wrong" etc., while literally nobody gives a shit or highlights any of myriad of problems with androids (until they start exploding of course)

>What can an iPhone do that Android can't?
iPhones are far better at being unserviceable and locked down at software/hardware level. If the computer hardware and software had always been lockdown as it is today, it would have been impossible for many international corpofaggot companies of today like Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia etc. to begin their business journeys. They all took something that was already available and rushed to develop it further into proprietary monopoly for profit. Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that the instawhores, homosexuals and browns prefer Apple products.

this isn't true at all
app developers tend to release paid or subscription apps because crapple keeps forcing them to update their apps to use newer APIs and libraries, no app can stay in the app store indefinitely without needing updates
as you could imagine, not many developers could be assed to work on their apps for free in this case

you couldn't remap the button without enabling the bixby shit to begin with. i know because i refused and therefore the button was useless unless i caved and signed up at least once to gain "access" to it. which is unacceptable imo. i paid for the device, locking a hardware feature behind a proprietary botnet account is mega gay.
it being 8 years old is irrelevant imo, that was the user experience at the time, and even if it might be different now on the s25 ultra i wouldn't know because that phone made me determined never to buy another samshit again. but i'm glad you mentioned that because it brings up another point related to the OP - inconsistency with android devices, even the same line of devices from the same manufacturer as mentioned with regards to samsung galaxy phones. the iOS experience i've checked in on occasionally (had the 3G, 4, X, and 12, despite the massive gap between the first and last ones i had, the user experience was pretty much the same give or take some modern features.
>You can't do that on an iPhone, why is this a comparison basis for Androids where Androids score lower then?
i'm sorry i can't quite understand what you're asking here, my bad. i mean true, you CAN'T do that on an iphone, whereas android phones (are able, but don't always by default) support custom OSes, i consider that not necessarily a bad thing for apple that they don't, from a "quality assurance" perspective it's a positive, all their devices are identical and locked down, ensuring a very deliberate experience. whether the experience is good or bad is a different argument but the fact they force the end user into a very specific experience with their devices could be a good thing for some users. the main takeaway there is that when discussing iOS devices you can ONLY be talking about iphone, whereas when we discuss "android phones" they are not all created equal. making the comparison difficult
