It's perfectly okay to make the AI write your char def as long as you know what to tell it to do and how you will edit it afterwards. In fact, you're more prone to making it bloated if you write everything yourself, if anything. As long as the def is concise and precise in its writing, everything is good.
Writing it yourself is nothing but a placebo. The real fight is usually in the greeting anyway, and the dialogue examples if you want. Why would anyone think that the writing in the def will affect the outputs? Just put your favorite author's style in the jb and you're good to go. Anyone who says otherwise just reiterates what someone said in the past without any proofs to back it up.
