At what point should I consider upgrading a 6900XT, assuming I play at 4k144Hz?

>but, Nvidia
4070 Super, might as well ask: How stable are the most recent drivers? Before building my PC, I kept reading and watching a lot of stories about how the current drivers were causing random black screens, and honestly I haven't played any new modern games yet since I'm still missing a decent monitor, I've been sticking to older games I had in my Steam account and pixelshit while plugged to my TV in the meantime. Also, I'm not sure if those issues were specifically with Series 5000 cards and if that's the case, I want to be sure that I'll be safe if I update my GPU to the latest version.
>>105603541just werks on linux
>>105603518I'd wait for the 9090 XT or whatever their stupid naming scheme is now. No reason to upgrade until then.

>>105603675There was some issue with them exploding but it turned out to be user error I think. Seems fine now, but it was an MSI board both times.
>We're still pretty sure it was either a spate of faulty LGA sockets or possibly just a story of two users who didn't install their CPUs correctly.Even a 7800X3D combo isn't that cheap. That's a shockingly good deal. Frankly, I'd risk it just for the price alone. I assume it's new too.
>>105603853I thought that was an issue with Asrock boards. What other brands were affected?
Is this the right place to ask about overclocking/undervolting?
I got a 9600x and I'm undervolting using AMD's PBO Curve Optimizer to crank every core down to -52 and it's still passing ycruncher. AMD's official Ryzen Master app only recommends going to -30 so I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong since I've gone so far past recommended. Is there any place with expected numbers a 9600x can hit?
>>105603520They weren't debunked. They're just not as necessary above 1080p as people assume. Still buying one though.

I don't OC any of my stuff so anything above average should be fine.
I'll likely use the sheets once I verify that my processors work.
TG claims that the sheets shouldn't be reused once applied; does that mean I should only use them on HBM GPUs, since GDDR VRAM modules require thermal pads and, thus, eventual replacement?
Is an RX 9070 XT really enough for modern gaming or should I just bite the bullet and buy a RTX 4090? I don't like the idea of buying used gpus.
>in markets for a new PC which will cost over 3 fucking grand

>>105606603>>105606614well it's an msi 5080 suprim and I'm using a fractal north. I don't know if it's going to be secure and I don't know how to tell if it'll be. It's also going to be horizontal. Never happened before and I'm freaking out, I was changing the case fans and when I went to pull the gpu out I must have done something wrong while trying to press the latch with a chopstick since I have half an inch of clearance with the cooler. It just came off in three pieces once I pulled the gpu out.
>>105606626The locking latch is pressure-activated so if you put your finger/tool on the place where the outer part snapped off you should be able to feel it contracting/snapping back into the "locked" position as you apply pressure fully inserting the card back in. If when you boot the PC you get a video out signal and no black screen you should be golden. Further, if you are orienting the case horizontal/landscape then the force of gravity should also act on the GPU to keep it well seated into the slot. Does your motherboard only have a single x16 slot or is the quad-slot cooler too fat to move it to another PCIe place?
>>1056066248K isn't a meme resolution as not only does it drastically increase the PPI/PPD visual acuity at these sizes but is also a perfect multiple of 4K, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, etc. for perfect interger scaling of a variety of content.
>>105606711The whole plastic lock broke off. I can't put it on the bottom pci-e x16 slot because the cooler is way too big and even if I could the psu shroud wouldn't let it have any clearance. It didn't just snap the plastic tab, it broke the entire latch off so it's just the pci-e x16 slot there now
Are there any aio kits for gpus? If not, what's the cheapest water-cooling setup for a 5090?
>>105606736>It didn't just snap the plastic tab, it broke the entire latch off so it's just the pci-e x16 slot there noAs long as the plastic slot itself is fine then you're fine. The "gold fingers" on the card contacts themselves aren't scuffed correct?
>>105606497Yeah that's a decent model
>>105606749Doesn't look like there's anything wrong with the card itself, no. I'm really afraid of putting it back in and turning the case vertical though. I was already worried about having such a big card before the latch exploded.
>>105606749>>105606711on another note, I just noticed that the latch is intact but what broke are a couple of thin plastic pieces that I believe were at the bottom of the pci-e latch mechanism and kept the lock itself from sliding off. It seems to go back in and work, albeit I'm not sure it locks the gpu in properly. But maybe it's better than nothing? I probably pressed too hard when trying to unlatch it and broke the bottom. It's a little wigglier than the other pci-e latch, but it is what it is.
>>105606746If you have a 5090 you should be able to afford an open loop. I'm waiting for a water block myself. I would suggest getting something half decent.
>>105606577I've broken mine shit works fine so long as the slot itself isn't fucked

Also AMD priced it very poorly considering it's only 10-15% better than the Zen 4 X3D parts which means it should be no more than than ~$440:
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/27.html
Also $300+ for ANY motherboard is insane unlss you have a VERY specific feature-set in mind that cannot be satisfied by any of the several dozen boards below that model's price point.
I don't see a point in spending extra for a premium NVME when they are perform basically the same at random Q1T1 read/writes that are the crux of client PC usage. Might as well maximize your $/GB here and redirect the savings back to the GPU or CPU (or get a bigger SSD).

>>105608840Depends on how complicated you want it. The simplest would be a 2.1 desktop setup but you cannot really except high quality here. People tend to like Klipsch ProMedia here but I had the Heritage and they had static noise and some auto shutdown with a noticeable pop whenever it occurred. Edifier has some 2.1 setups as well but I dont know how good they are.
Powered Bookshelf speakers are very straight forward as you only need to make sure you can hook them up to the PC or DAC using either 3.5mm Jack, a Y splitter to the RCA in or directly via USB. A bit more complicated are passive speakers as you'd need an amp here on top of the speakers which might not be ideal if you're space constrained. Most Bookshelf speaker have a 4" driver that might be a bit big for a desktop so make sure they arent too big. I personally prefer 3.5" but the options here are more limited.
If you want a sub on top of bookshelf speakers things can get actually complicated as you need to make sure everything can be connected with each other. Some active speakers or amps for passive speakers have a sub out that you can use, if this is not available you can check if the subwoofer itself has a line-in and line-out that allows audio passthrough where you'd connect your PC to the sub line-in and then the line-out to the speaker in.
Options you have plenty but how they sound ultimately depends on your environment and personal preference. The best would be if you can listen to the speakers beforehand but even then the sound can be different once you use them in your room cause of acoustics. Some brands that come to my mind are Edifier, JBL, Kanto, KEF, Creative and FiiO. For passive Amps I know Fosi produces some.
I personally use Edifier speaker together with their subwoofer which are sufficient for my room. Especially in regards of subwoofer people seem to prefer bigger ones but I find the recommendations you will see online rather overkill.

I was using a 55 inch hisense uh8 TV as my display. It was pretty good, blacks are deep, colors are bright, response time is good, goes up to 120hz (but I usually just run it in 60hz mode) but then after just one year it's starting to develop the blue spot issue, which, if you don't know, is when the backlight LED array starts turning blue in certain spots. It's not reversible and repairs usually tend to cost as much as a new unit.
All these years avoiding OLEDs because of burnin and this is like the third display i've had develop these blue fucking spots and bands so what's the point of avoiding one issue if I'll just get caught in another just as frequently?
If I went with a display instead of a TV would I be better off on lifespan?
Also going from 55 to like 20-30 inch display sounds pretty fucking jarring if I'm being honest with you so I just don't really know where to turn for a decent reliable display under a thousand bucks.
