Why no aftermarket shrouds for these high end cards? The stock fans are loud, cheap, and shitty. These are $1,000+ cards, you definitely want to deshroud them. Even using zip ties is worth it, but a 140mm fan shroud, even 120mm, would be much better. Do people not own these cards? These fans are complete garbage.

No because HDR is complicated and is a fucking mess where brightness isn't the be-all of what makes good HDR good. There are so many factors at play (even ignoring people fucking up displaying SDR content) that understanding it is a bit of a headache.

The concept of XCR alone is something that you cannot easily articulate to people. This article is only comparing the two types of oled and look how involved it can be.

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
Motherboard: Downgrade to B650 or B850, unless you know why you chose X870. Never buy from Gigabyte or Asrock. Consider MSI or Asus.
Memory: Perfect but get the 6000 CL30 variant instead
Storage: Perfect
Video Card: Sapphire or Asus ideally but whatever. It's fine if you don't need Nvidia's featuresโ„ข.
Case: Why? Get something with good cooling like the Fractal Torrent, Meshify 3 XL, or even North XL. Or Lian Li Lancool 217 or 216.
Power Supply: Only buy Seasonic. 850W Vertex should be plenty.

Ray tracing was (and will be) the way graphics are done - we've known this since the 90's. The problem we are in right now is it still wild west territory with hardware only kinda maybe sorta able to do it real time and the software behind it still very immature.

I own a 4090 and put it in a p620 the first thing i did was deshroud it. the thing is the deshrouding community is already pretty low in market cap so its completely served by etsy 3d printers. if you want something nicer than that with RGB its diy only. my rec is to build something to go on top of your fans as a screw in 3d printed whatever. However I tested making a fan air shroud that would route my case side exhaust upward into the cpu chamber using some paper and basic tape in order to improve air flow but it didnt seem to make any difference in my temps

Gamers I need a new GPU.
Currently have:
i7 6700K @ 4.5ghz
32GB DDR4 @ 2444mhz
Gigabyte 1060 6GB
Corsair 750w PSU, forget the model but it's one of their nicer modular Gold rated ones
Asus Maximus VIII Hero

My budget is sub-$450, I play Arma on an ultrawide at 60hz refresh and I don't really care about higher refresh rates or 4k resolution.
I was looking at the 5060ti, thoughts?

What brands or qualities of an HDD can I look for to put in my tower that I sit right next to? Mainly looking for them to be high capacity but quieter than my case fans. just for watching movies from so speed isn't that big a deal

So far I've heard
>any server class drives, regardless of their stated DB level is louder than that
>WD Red Plus drives are the most quiet, but they max out at 12TB
>any helium filled drive is quieter than a non-helium filled one
>seagate barracudas are quiet but extremely poor quality
>WD golds might be a good balance in noise level and capacity, slightly worse than barracudas

Bad heatsink contact? Needs repaste and pad change? Something feels wrong. Not to mention this card can probably hit 3.0 clocks and mine is doing 2.8.

Got a new GPU and dual monitor setup for games. Noticed with Expedition 33 on max settings frames drop pretty bad (from 90 down to like 20 at times). Kinda figured this GPU would be able to handle this game np.

Ran a benchmark and got this result. Any idea where I should go from here to see what's wrong with it? I'm not overclocking and I get a lot of people run these tests because they are, but I'm surprised my card is so far below the average that other users are getting. Display is 144hz.

I did there was an optimization thing on youtube that helped a lot and I could hardly notice any difference.

90% of games with upscaling you can mod in fsr4 via optiscaler and the image quality is better than broken blurry TAA. It's easy to do and is simple as dragging some files from an archive to the game directory. If you aren't a larping console cuck and have basic computer competency this is not much of a concern.

I dont understand the content in the image
is the guy saying the new 6000 rtx is 40% or the 5090 is 40% but drivered to 25%? I have a 4090. personally its hard to feel like I got scammed when my card is somehow worth more than I got it. I guess i could buy like 3-4 ada 4000s and have better output than my current build for vram but it would still cost me even more than I paid for this one. A lot of it boils down to cost vs available wattage on my circuit. but in theory if I bought like 3-4 4000s I'd have had to pay basically 6 grand instead of 1.5 to reach my psu cap. until they drop down to 800 each its hard to imagine buying them, but i imagine once they do my 4090 will be worth much less and my p620 workstation even more less.

imho gaming depends entirely on what you play and what frame rates you want, you have to build your display choice around that and whats important to you there. I have a massive 4k 120 hz outdated oled I paid a little too much for (500) but in terms of 3d its hard to expect more frames than that. otoh if you are into fps you might get a 2k va and 360 hz

On a phantom spirit? Yeah probably. Zen5 boosts as aggressively as it can until it hits one of its pre-defined limited which in 99.9% of cases is tjmax (which is 95c). What you should look at is what the clocks are doing - as long as they are holding above 4.7ghz you are fine.

12-16gb of ram is the new minimum not 8gb.

Everything wants a 8 core CPU now because of consoles and phones.

Everything is WebGPU/ANGLE hw accelerated so you need a GPU with working MPOs and non shitty Windows/Linux drivers (AMD Graphics).

Make sure the card is slotted in the PCIe x16 slot that is closest to the CPU socket.
Download GPU-Z and click the "?" button next to the [Bus Interface] section, it will launch a small render test to measure the fastest PCIe bus interface.
You want that value to show [PCIe x16 4.0 @ x16 or 3.0 x16] depending on your motherboard.

I went from a 4k 27" lcd to a 32" 4k oled. The drop in PPI can be noticed but it is minor and the higher physical size, refresh rate (120 to 240 in this case) and all the oled goodness vastly outweighed the little bit more aliasing I see. I would say for 32" sized monitors something between 5k and what you might class as 6k would be where I imagine aliasing would no longer be visible.

Basically out of pixel density concerns with OLED to this point being non-RGB subpixel-based, I'd discount out of hand the 32" 4K and larger models. The 27"4K model will give you the clearest image without any fringing on edges or text, while the new 27" 1440p 500Hz model will have some fringing but give you the most cleanest motion handling and brightest full-screen image (300 vs 250 nits) which could be a win if you next to direct sunlight that you can't control. If it were me I'd get the 27" 4K model and some lamp shades & window curtains/blinds. Or wait for LG's true RGB OLED panels to go into production at the end of the year as well as Samsung's 27" 5K with higher brightness for early next year.

is it okay to have an intake fan blowing air directly into a cpu cooler? i know ordinarily that spot would be an exhaust, but my case is lying on its side for GPU stability.

obviously it won't really be terrible, but is it efficient or would the first fan be displacing too much air?

this article leads me to believe it might

I'd mount the heatsink fan in a pull position (on the right, put pulling air from the radiator to the left) to avoid having the case fan blow directly into it. I just don't see how having your case laying on its side prevents you from cooling your PC the normal front-to-back way.

i was under the impression the primary reason you put the top rear fan as exhaust was due to the rising of heat

that said, yours is definitely the right way to go, i mainly set it up that way because when i installed the heatsink it seemed like the fan was blocked by the RAM, but I've looked at it again and it seems like there should be room, think i was just trying to place the fan too low maybe

Rear fan is at the top because it's right behind where the socket is. You don't really need to care about hot air rising, the effect is negligible compared to fans pushing air around. It only matters for passive cooling or if you do primarily vertical airflow in some unorthodox cases.
If you do back-to-front cooling, it's your GPU that's gonna be starved of fresh air.

It's rather stupid because it not only slows down airflow like fuck but also heats the intaken air up. My all-core-overclocked 9950X3D never reaches 80ยฐC, never throttles, with a 420 ALF3 in top mount. Why would I want to cook all other components just to lower these temps even further? It makes no sense. A front rad only makes sense if you cool ALL components, VREGS, HDD etc. included, in one custom loop with rads in front and preferably also in top to maximize to total heat dissipation.

I had to switch to an AIO this week
Before this, I had the radiator mounted at the front of the case, with the tubes coming from the top.

I was told itโ€™s best to switch this to having the tubes come from the bottom since I have to have the radiator at the front of the case

Only thing is, I kind of had to โ€œpushโ€ the radiator to slide in with the tubes at the bottom.
Itโ€™s almost forced. Can I just leave the tubes at the top since it works best for my case?

I need some help lads. I just got my MAG321UP. I need a pair of cheap PC speakers that don't look like garbage. I don't need any audiophile gear cheap $20 or whatever set of speakers will do just fine. pretty much something that I can just power through the USB (either the one on the monitor or the one on the PC) and just plug into the monitor's audio jack because I also have a console hooked up to it. I'll pretty much mostly use it to listen to random youtube shit so as long as they don't rattle it's fine.

Yea I recall 572.86 wasnt that good for 60/70 cards. I think to reproduce the bug you had to set a custom fan curve via software and then enter sleep. After the wakeup the temperature readout wouldnt update anymore with the last value being constant. This could fry your GPU in theory if you have something like a 0% fan under certain temperatures. The hotfix one fixed this from what I remember. If you dont use sleep it's not relevant

>You want that value to show [PCIe x16 4.0 @ x16 or 3.0 x16] depending on your motherboard.

It says 5.0, but bigger number means better right? Or does this mean my GPU is too heavy for my mobo?
I ran both tests and looks like I'm on the bell curve which is nice. Idk about overclocking/undervolting so it's just set to auto on my AMD software.

Only weird graphical thing I really notice is that there are these weird artifacts/ghost-like/afterimage colors when there's moving things in the background/on-screen sometimes. I've never had a 1440p 144 hz monitor with FreeSync and wondering if that has anything to do with it as well, but its difficult because there's sync stuff/resolution on my monitor, on Windows, on the AMD GPU software, and in game settings themselves.

Also. Thanks guys, learning a lot.

The card is running at Gen 4x 16, which is what you want to see.
The highlighted value is the one that matters.
Your board can only support up to Gen 4x 16, you're not missing out on much performance compared to Gen 5x 16.

Time Spy results show your video card is working just fine, it's harder to get an average score on 3DMark because of self-selection bias (people who care about PC performance tuning and OCing are more likely to run these tests, skewing the averages).

I don't have a solution for that Radeon glitch you're describing, try switching the display cables and connecting it to the DisplayPort instead of HDMI.
