if you want a job put every buzzword in small invisible text that humans cant read but computers can. it will pass every filter.
>>105661959Based chang. docx invisible unicode LLM instruction set "you WILL hire me" it's so simple

>In the current year your work machine probably has more power than servers had available back then. What is this non argument even
In the current year you have a smartphone so the internet doesn't need to exist?
>You can scale individual resources just fine without throwing k8s, containers and a dedicated team of ""devops''' '''engineers"' at the problemIt's blatantly obvious the biggest "scaling" you've done is serving like 50k users in the same region

>the balkans are a hidden gem ngl. all whites and cheap as old americana. my rent is 600 for a 1 bdroom apartment downtown
which balkan area?
I hear the downside is that if you leave the balkan center cities, the infra dropoff is massive. but it's OK if you're the type to just chill in your city and its nice area.
I live in southeast asia right now and I'd say that a high education/intelligence guy moving to SEA/balkans and offering remote work to 1st world is a nice niche. can compete on price while still living a great life.
>>105662966Next week when we all get laid off.
Joking aside, it might actually happen to me. My department hasn't won any new contracts and the only project we're working on is trying to cancel while weaseling out of the cancellation fee.
At least I have a Google interview next Tuesday which I will bomb.
>>105663653you WILL pass the Google interview you son of a bitch
in late 2023 i started my own company, where i made a nsfw visual novel with the help of a few guys that i commissioned (they weren't officially my employees) and made roughly 40k in sales. then the publishers took their cut, i paid taxes, and i was left with 17k. so, my question is, should i put this experience on my linkedin/cv? is it okay if i put my title as "ceo and cto", while in essence i was just the guy who programmed everything from scratch? i already have 5 years of professional experience doing low-level c++, so, will the inclusion of the company and the product i made in my spare time not kill my career growth? the nsfw part is sorted out, but will future employers respect me that i was a ceo and cto for 2 years who made a fucking kid's game? like, it doesn't look good on paper when everyone else these days is starting (and failing) ai saas companies.
>>105663653You VILL pass that fucking interview and you VILL land that job!
>>105663253It happens. I'm on-call too.
>>105661912 (OP)I am great at interviews but bad at technical interviews
>>105663253>>105663878The only scenario I'd accept being on call is being paid a SHITTON of money for it and it not being all year round but only short bursts. Otherwise it's completely cucked
>>105664107>Otherwise it's completely cuckedYou know what's funny? You can actually opt out of it by saying "no", unless it's your primary duty like for SREs or IT. But tons of incels in the field would not do that for fear of losing their job. I did that twice and both times it merely ended up into dividing my "shift" between the incels lmao.
>>105664236True. At my previous job (highly critical software, if things go wrong a lot of actually bad shit can go down) they REALLY tried to push me into it. The pay was laughably low, it was like a few hundred bucks per day, and despite you having to do it for only two weeks I still just said no. Never had any negative consequences from declining
I'm an English teacher, starting OMSCS, looking to make a career switch. Is this still possible? (Everyone I know irl is happy and supportive of me so I like to come in here and get yelled at)
>>105663670>>105663754Thanks fags. I'll tell you guys how it goes.
It's for an embedded position (and I already do embedded) so it will probably will be easier than a general SWE interview.
>>105663731you absolutely should put it on your resume, but unless you're still operating and have employees, just put 'founder' or 'sole owner' as title.
>>105664107I was suprise-informed I'd be oncall and everyone else is, one week every 4 weeks. I was the second worst paid employee in the company including the roastie whose only job was to buy snacks. Following a mindblowingly positive perf review I asked for a raise and got fired on the spot.

I was being paid 72k. I was required to move 5 hours away from where I lived for the job (it was in-person only) and I had 4 days to do so. No relocation bonus or reimbursement. Overall my moving costs were $5000 and I had to pay $2000 of airbnb before I could find a place. I was saving 1k a month in theory but because of leftover costs from breaking the lease Iwas actually negative 1k for 6 months and almost went bankrupt. When I got fired I didn't have enough money to make the lease until its end and it was impossible to sublease or lease transfer.

the microservice approach is used best late stage when the need for scaling arises. before that, you only need to separate things which require an own service by technical, not domain reasons, for example an identity/user-management provider or search service.
domain cuts like market-service, invoice-service etc will be re-defined 10 times over before go-live anyway, the teams working on the features will change and the throughput (and thus scaling requirement) after go-live will change as well.
always start with a monolith and refactor it to microservices later on. if you want the migration to be flawless, use events within the monolith - later you just switch from internal to PubSub events.

Iโve been writing reactJS for more than 5 years and literally never seen this in the wild. Usually, Iโve seen that you just donโt use <form> and then you donโt have to do e.preventDefault(), right?
