Lmao
>You can use the exact same interfaces between services without adding a network call between them and starting to have distributed problems for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
Yeah bro, in the real word everything happens instantaneously and there is only one location, kek.
>In the current year your work machine probably has more power than servers had available back then.
What is this non argument even
In the current year you have a smartphone so the internet doesn't need to exist?
>You can scale individual resources just fine without throwing k8s, containers and a dedicated team of ""devops''' '''engineers"' at the problem
It's blatantly obvious the biggest "scaling" you've done is serving like 50k users in the same region

which balkan area?

I hear the downside is that if you leave the balkan center cities, the infra dropoff is massive. but it's OK if you're the type to just chill in your city and its nice area.

I live in southeast asia right now and I'd say that a high education/intelligence guy moving to SEA/balkans and offering remote work to 1st world is a nice niche. can compete on price while still living a great life.

in late 2023 i started my own company, where i made a nsfw visual novel with the help of a few guys that i commissioned (they weren't officially my employees) and made roughly 40k in sales. then the publishers took their cut, i paid taxes, and i was left with 17k. so, my question is, should i put this experience on my linkedin/cv? is it okay if i put my title as "ceo and cto", while in essence i was just the guy who programmed everything from scratch? i already have 5 years of professional experience doing low-level c++, so, will the inclusion of the company and the product i made in my spare time not kill my career growth? the nsfw part is sorted out, but will future employers respect me that i was a ceo and cto for 2 years who made a fucking kid's game? like, it doesn't look good on paper when everyone else these days is starting (and failing) ai saas companies.

You know what's funny? You can actually opt out of it by saying "no", unless it's your primary duty like for SREs or IT. But tons of incels in the field would not do that for fear of losing their job. I did that twice and both times it merely ended up into dividing my "shift" between the incels lmao.

True. At my previous job (highly critical software, if things go wrong a lot of actually bad shit can go down) they REALLY tried to push me into it. The pay was laughably low, it was like a few hundred bucks per day, and despite you having to do it for only two weeks I still just said no. Never had any negative consequences from declining

My point is that whining about having burnout is dumb because there's nothing to think about
>try to discuss it with your manager
>if that doesn't work or you know it won't work, either quit or stop whining and keep getting exploited
Like what other advice do you expect on here regarding burnout?

I make over 500k/yr just vibe coding NSFW text adventures. Every time you get replaced by AI and fired, my TC only gets bigger. I don't even know what a lambda is but since I started my LLC i get flooded by bootcampers and nothing is sweeter than bringing them in for interviews just to tear their resume up in front of them after asking leetcode questions and watching them squirm as my AI solves the same question in a fraction of a second.

I am only 34 but I'm trying to plan ahead. Luckily I didn't fall for the marriage meme or the mortgage meme. I live with my parents and drive an econobox (that I will have to upgrade soon, roads are too unsafe). It was an AI platform SaaS stsrtup where I was employee 18. Super well financed. They weren't making meme AI but rather a SaaS that lets you use meme AI workflows for common use cases or spin up meme notebooks and such basically, including for deployment internally or externally.
I was being paid 72k. I was required to move 5 hours away from where I lived for the job (it was in-person only) and I had 4 days to do so. No relocation bonus or reimbursement. Overall my moving costs were $5000 and I had to pay $2000 of airbnb before I could find a place. I was saving 1k a month in theory but because of leftover costs from breaking the lease Iwas actually negative 1k for 6 months and almost went bankrupt. When I got fired I didn't have enough money to make the lease until its end and it was impossible to sublease or lease transfer.

The company is still using some of my appa for demos and one of them is thr only featured demo app on their website. When they got rid of me they tried to replace me wirh other employees for 3 months, then gave up and wiped the rest of my team, even though before I left it was the most productive in the org according to the ceo and the commercial strategy was based around getting clients to use my apps asap to secure sales.

I am not the person you are replying to, but let me tell you, you are stupid and/or inexperienced.

the microservice approach is used best late stage when the need for scaling arises. before that, you only need to separate things which require an own service by technical, not domain reasons, for example an identity/user-management provider or search service.

domain cuts like market-service, invoice-service etc will be re-defined 10 times over before go-live anyway, the teams working on the features will change and the throughput (and thus scaling requirement) after go-live will change as well.

always start with a monolith and refactor it to microservices later on. if you want the migration to be flawless, use events within the monolith - later you just switch from internal to PubSub events.

You make several very retarded assumptions that don't apply to real life most of the time. The scenario you just described is a greenfield project of a small startup, sure then you obviously don't need an entire microservice infrastructure, but usually you work at a growing company and not some meme startup which is "pre revenue "

I worked for banks and insurances, they all had useless features dating 2 years ago in the pipeline which were still not greenlit and then new requirements rose and trams changed and suddenly those features had to be split into completely different microservices. all the while they had paid for multiple instances of Postgres (each 1000 euros per month per environment of which there are 4) because using one with different schemas is not scalable enough, lol

and because I'm le IT guy the first thing I do when I sign out my own laptop (or have to give one to someone I don't completely hate) is throw an extra memory stick into it to bring it to 16gb

>Update on Intel mass layoffs: NO SEVERANCE

>Intel cutting 15-20% of its Foundry workforce (over 10,000 jobs)
>No buyouts.
>No early retirements.
>No severance.
>Just job cuts based on performance scores, automation, and โ€œstrategic alignment.โ€ This is Intelโ€™s third round of layoffs in a year, but the first with zero cushion.

>Why no severance? Intel is classifying cuts as "performance-based" or "project-based", allowing them to sidestep packages, especially at global fabs. They see it as a cost-saving move because of recent losses ($821M in Q1) and the stall of CHIPS Act.

>More layoffs coming for Intel Marketing departments. Intel is outsourcing key roles to Accenture and AI tooling. No severance confirmed for upcoming marketing layoffs as well

Cybersecurity is a nebulous umbrella term, but cloud security or even just GRC shit would be enough for me. Here in Spain all that matters are titles and certificates, so I certainly need one to even get a foot in the door. Eventually working for a company in the first world while living here is the goal. For a dude in help desk trying to break into real IT there's few other options. It's highly valued there. After that, just do what you can. In the end, certs prove that you can pass a test, but if you actually study to achieve them and can prove it in an interview then it matters. Self-directed study is obviously better, but what proof do you have and will it ever get you past the HR filter if you don't have a job title related to it?

ReactJS question:

Is the most common way of handling an append to a list of objects that youโ€™re rendering to actually use a <form> attribute and put e.preventDefault() into the event listener?
source: https://www.w3schools.com/react/react_forms.asp

Iโ€™ve been writing reactJS for more than 5 years and literally never seen this in the wild. Usually, Iโ€™ve seen that you just donโ€™t use <form> and then you donโ€™t have to do e.preventDefault(), right?

Asking because I recently saw this in an online technical screening interview.
Do any of you guys actually use <form> and e.preventDefault()? Iโ€™m just mesmerized that Iโ€™ve never seen this in the wild before.

you could encourage him to test them out in personal projects before adoption within the team.
you could also pull: โ€œWow. That sounds really interesting. Maybe we could try putting it to an anonymous vote on the team?โ€

>coworker
my coworker will be okay with things operational for like a couple of years but recently he's been INSANELY bitchy now in which WE NEED TO SOLVE THIS ASAP. I'd rather he not fucking say it during our standup and try to loop it to me first so I can pre-empt something but no this bitch will always use our group meetings to be his drama little session. It's not like I even leave him on read or anything on the rare times he does take me aside to talk about this stuff but him always bringing it to the group especially in front of our VP grinds my fucking gears man.

>Boss
he sits behind me and anytime he asks a question, doesn't matter if im working on something he'll ask it. If I'm working on something he's not "aware of" like, he'll try to "feign" interest but it's more of trying to scope creep and try to make whatever I'm learning work more for the company. Like if I'm working on a new feature X that I haven't say anything about yet, he'll peak over and be like ohhhhh can it also work for Y,Z,A,B,C and I'll be like I don't know I'm just playing around with it then he'll leave it on my desk and I'll be like... "come the fuck on man....I didn't even get X working yet"

trying to keep my cool in team meetings for these but it's getting really hard to control my body language.

yeah, so those are items that you call out for returning to at the tail end of stand-upโ€ฆ and everyone can just zone out for itโ€ฆ
>especially in front of our VP
is he a direct report? is he pointing out your tech debt?
you can just ignore his bitching if youโ€™re not responsible for him.
if you are, tell him to make a JIRA ticket for it in the backlog โ€” which inevitably gets deprioritized as shit that doesnโ€™t matter. (or it goes into the allotted operational excellence bucket)
sounds like the dude is a junior that doesnโ€™t lead any projects, so he just doesnโ€™t get it.
this is an inevitable step in growth as an engineer. the next step is actually doing shit to fix problems instead of just complaining about them โ€” actually thatโ€™s another feedback you can bring if heโ€™s not doing that already: bring proposed solutions to the table when raising awareness of a problem.
thereโ€™s quite a few options for scoring some easy mentoring points here

dude, wtf kind of company is this?
you get to just create your own work without formally telling your manager?
even in the more bottom-up companies that Iโ€™ve been at, my manager always knows the projects that Iโ€™m on and Iโ€™d be asking for a smack down if I donโ€™t take his input seriously.
itโ€™s usually at least pushing the envelope if I just start putting a significant chunk of my bandwidth on an idea without at least pitching it to my manager

if the issue is usually pointed at you investigating and solving it, you could go โ€œIโ€™d appreciate it if you could bring these issues up more proactively than just waiting for stand-up to bring these items to meโ€

I am trained in cabinet making and made 12 bucks an hour then got blackballed from every woodshop in town because I wouldn't put up with the rainbow flag nonsense or the creepy old supervisor who was a predatory homosexual. This man was a grandpa, another coworker quit over his sexual harassment as well.

To be honest I can't stand faggots, they are predatory and push that shit on children, am a Muslim and believe they should be publicly executed.

It was probably for the best since I went back to programming, my childhood hobby, and ending up learning advanced math. Now I can build neural networks from scratch and apply high level math in a professional context.

Why is this whole nation abandoning God? I live in the most Christian part of the USA and all that faggot flag nonsense is taking root. What happened to Christians? Even the government and military promotes it now, the media and banks. It is like they are being taken over by Satan.

Anyways, that's my rant. Unless you land a sweet union gig or start your own business, a lot of tradesmen survive in poverty. Speaking from personal experience. Less than 1% of the human population can write code, think about that.

I hate that this is how the rest of my life is going to be
I hate that I'm "privileged" enough to have an office job that pays decently well and it's still not making me anywhere near stable let alone happy
What a horrible existance

Literally how I feel. This is just wrong, but I don't work with autoit and learning it feels pointless, especially that it is a one off project.

if your task in a genuine corpo environment is to use autoit that is cursed as fuck. that is even worse than load-bearing excel sheets.

also you're a retarded moron if you can't do autoit scripts without "vibe coding" kwab

I never used and never will use it again. I basically have to create a small app to assist with migration to windows 11.
Checking cpu/office installation and few other win10 specific apps and accordingly propose win11 or mac or linux and update a cursed load-bearing excel sheet on a shared drive.
For real backend I will use python, but the nagging app has to be autoit as that's what responsible it teams know.
