honestly, I watched some of his generic gameplays at the time but as soon as he blew I quit watching, I hated pewdiepie, that was where I knew YT went to total shit with the clickbait and obnoxious shouting and editing shit. He was just mrbeast of his time.
Never did I get back on the "oh pewds is actually one of the good guys little small independent youtuber" like was the popular opinion around the time of the Tseries shit even up to now.

But him coming out and shilling Linux and GrapheneOS as the biggest non corporate owned channel, I think we need a new word to describe how beyond based that is. Thats is not an accident one makes, its the one thing you're not supposed to talk about, especially going against always on mobile surveillance with the most effective tool there is.
Now we need to get him on Stop Killing Games, if for nothing else I want to see KEKED software seeth like the little bitch boy corporate shill he is as his hopes and dreams of scamming a few thousands of dollars out of 11 year olds with some shitty asset flip live service hes making come crashing down.

I only watched his videos during his intense mental breakdown/depression phase where he was making jokes against Jews, trashing his apartment and harassing people on the street. I wonder if he was on drugs. Anyway that was mildly entertaining but after a couple of weeks I guess he was tired of having his videos demonetized because he went back to making reaction videos for 8 years old kids.

How so? His entire point was to cut it out as much as possible. For him cutting off his Youtube isn't exactly feasible. Unless you want to argue he start up his own video hosting site, in which case I'd be all for it, but would also eat his money in all likelihood.

Good for him for finding his own software life balance, however you don't need to do anything he did. You don't need grapheneOS to sequester apps to a secondary profile, or limit app permissions. Android has had these features for years. You can individually control permissions of each app and individually permit the directories each can access. You can use profiles, either through Android or through innumerable third party software on top of that. You can use your flavor of KeePass, you never had to pay for a digital password database. You can sync your database between clients, you don't need a shoveitupyourassberry pi.

He hasn't lost his following. His videos do as well as they always have done. I don't think he's nearly as active when it comes to making content as he used to be, though so his income is probably lower than it was at his peak. Still he's easily pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars per year from Youtube.
He's not gonna be starving and begging on the sidewalk, that's for sure.

I've noticed that on the rare occasion a Windows error message is helpful, normies will still get confused and ask someone else for help. A program can spit out "This program needs Visual C++ Redistribuitables installed to work" and instead of looking into it, they'll wait for someone else to fix it

All these ecelebs who claim to use these meme products like Graphene are doing it for a specific reason. They do it, not because they are actually using it. They do it, to show how "privacy concious" they are. It is all about creating trust in the audience. The audience will say: "Oh, this guy means it serious with privacy! Otherwise he wouldn't do such drastic things! What else does he has to say?" And in the next step, the celebrity grifter will say: "GUYS BRAVEโ„ข BROWSER IS THE BEST THING EVER! AND CHECK OUT MULLVADโ„ข!"

The sheep... ahm the well informed audience will say: "YES I WILL USE THIS BECAUSE I TRUST YOU PEWPEWPIE! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE!"

Meanwhile at Brave, Mullvad etc. headquarters: "They trust us. Dumb fucks."

I do agree with you but that doesnt make it any less shitty. I think if you want to get around this there needs to be a consumer phone you can just buy thats already setup with all the software. IDK how practical this is though. I have heard mobile phone entry is hard as fuck to crack. And as far as I know -- the actual chip for mobile communications is all proprietary anyway.

Even android doesnt actually implement any of the mobile communication standards because they just talk to Qualcomm chips as a black box with (i think its AT commands.) So floss bros... we might be fucked with the mobile system. Perhaps the best way around this is to use a different networking technology altogether for portable communication. I think there's now ultra-long range networking where you can send small messages. maybe an AI that converts voice to text to send over that then back again.

/e/OS and SailfishOS both offer pre-flashed phones. The issue with this is you can't really do it in a mass scale, because otherwise Google won't give you access to Play Services and other gapps
>the actual chip for mobile communications is all proprietary anyway
Yeah, the FCC (And every country's equivalent) forbids companies from making devices that exceed a certain amount of output power, and they also forbid them from making it easy for the user to exceed this amount of output power. They need to be proprietary because otherwise they'd be illegal
>Perhaps the best way around this is to use a different networking technology altogether for portable communication
All wireless software solutions are gonna be subject to the same FCC (or local equivalent) issues, your best bet would be figuring out a way to network via CB radio and create some sort of mesh network out of that

I was going to say you're a brainlet and it's easy to flash roms because I've done it with every smartphone I've ever had. But then I just remembered that the last time I flashed a rom it had steps which were things like "now that it's installed click "apply and reboot" then wait 6 seconds so that the light has come on but the logo hasn't come up yet and quickly hold down the power button for 10 seconds, when the phone goes off and while still holding the power button start holding the volume down button. If you miss any of this and it completed the boot start again from step 1".
It's less effort to get onto an old business PC with secureboot, a bios password and bitlocker.

I use openstreetmaps via organic maps for hiking and cycling but that's it
the reasons I find gmaps irreplaceable are discovery, reviews and traffic data
for example I needed to look up a local place that could fix my lawnmower, search engines are useless for local stuff like that and so was OSM but it took me a minute to find the place on gmaps, see it has good reviews and call them to get a quote
when I travel I want to know which places are shitholes to avoid and which are liked by locals and have good reviews
traffic data is extremely useful for driving because it lets me avoid traffic jams, gmaps often picks a weird route for me that I wouldn't think of but is usually faster

I'm not that anon, but I use mailbox.org. I know it's not free, but in my mind, e-mail is one of the most necessary services of today like having a cellphone plan. Paying a little bit per month is worth is to me, especially how little it is in comparison to other shit I buy. Proton and tuta offer free tiers though, with 1GB storage included. Not as much as Google obviously, but you're not paying by having your e-mails data mined.

For a normie either use Proton or iCloud if you're on Applel shit. They're popular because they just work.
You can self-host but you have to ask yourself if it's worth the trouble for you personally.

Never self host e-mail. It's really not worth the time.

>like having a cellphone plan
What? I understand needing to use some proprietary messaging app, but if anything, a cellphone plan is the least necessary part of having a smartphone

There's a difference between "It's convenient" and "It's a necessary evil"

Are cellphone plans evil? I just said they were necessary. I have a job where I need to be able to do a slack call and direct colleages on how to fix issues with our services. But besides that, not having a cellphone plan in current_year sucks. You look like a fool asking people to Google shit for you because of your principles. Like how RMS begs people to book hotels for him, or tries to sleep on peoples couches. He's a wacko.

I legit had a brainfart and thought it said necessary evil, sorry kek. My point is that the plan itself isn't really necessary because 99% of the time you're either at work or at home, which is gonna have wifi, so a pre-paid sim is just fine for that 1% you need data on the go (and to have a phone number for shit that needs one) at a much lower price than a plan
