I'm not an expert in the topic, but from what I understand
>X comes from a time where giving everyone a top of the line graphical workstation was unrealistic, and thus is designed primarily for a server to render everything, and have the client merely display windows sent by it
>Eventually, systems became a lot more affordable, but you still have X, only change is that you now run X server on the same machine that runs X client
>The capability to send windows over a network is apparently bloat
>Wayland gets rid of this and shifts the responsibility of a display server towards the window manager
>This is meant to be better for some reason
Correct me if I'm wrong

It’s always Gnome tards every time. I just don’t understand how people can be so anti choice. I’m not telling them how to use their machine so why are they constantly telling others what to run and they everything else is shit/deprecated/outdated…
Also in every possible comment section, the Gnome team can literally do NO WRONG. It doesn’t matter what you’re talking about or what decision is being taken, it’s always objectively correct from the devs no matter what. The users never question, never doubt, never ask. They just call anyone disagreeing with the changes or voicing a different opinion, idiots and other names.
That you call people who hate for no reason, sure. But when people give valid reasons, asks to keep support for their use case, and you’re met with absolute disdain if not outright hatred from these people, it’s not a very positive image for their project.
I use GNOME too, I think it’s a solid DE, but like most Linux projects really, I feel like it’s worked on by the most insufferable cunts imaginable. Definitely not just a gnome issue lately.

Sorry anon, but when you are assigned to project and tasked with maintenance and bug fixing, you’re supposed to do it, and not do what the X team did, which is basically sandbag and let the thing fester and die until someone decided to fork it.
If anything, I find tech people to be the most entitled pricks on earth, and that refusal to do what you’ve been paid and hired to do (because these people didn’t work for free) would be enough to get you fired in any normal job environment.

They were hired and paid to maintain and bug fix on the project. They utterly failed at that task and actively hampered the project progress actually. By definition, they didn’t do the job they were assigned to do.
You are, just as said in my earlier post, too entitled to even realise that and that’s why you come up with that pointless comment. Because that’s all you’re left with honestly.
None of this would have happened if they simply did their job, or better yet, resigned from the position because they don’t want to work on the project anymore.

wddm 3.2 is actually wonderful piece of software. its dramatically different than the original release in vista in 2006 with wddm 1.0. so much of it has been redone, and improved massively. from gpu hardware scheduling support, window mode for games allowing for reduced latency, freesync, hdr, all that stuff. and microsoft done it over 20 years.

anyone who tells you they couldn't do that with x11 is a horseshit liar. the truth is, they simply didn't want to work on x11 anymore. they had x11 fatigue. they hated it, they didn't make it, nearly all the original people from the 80s that worked on x11 were long gone, they simply wanted to make a new project themselves.

and you know what? that's fine. just be fucking honest and don't sabotage x11.

microsoft was honest. they didn't want to work on xddm anymore. they admitted to that. they stated they wanted to create something new but for whatever the fuck reason wayland troons can't and couldn't admit to that.

My comment chain is simply about the principle of doing your job. Again I much prefer thinking they were just bored and didn’t want to maintain rather than a more sinister explanation of “they were paid to sabotage”.
We will never truly know, but I hope the next project they’re working on, they’ll show more enthusiasm and professionalism.

Honestly the fact they’re getting paid doesn’t bother me that much but your other point does. Again, it’s only in the tech industry that I see people actively antagonistic towards their users/consumers to this degree. And of course the usual posturing. I know every place is liable to become an echo chamber, but Gnome really feels that way. If you don’t agree with every action from the devs, you’re gonna get ridiculed and ostracised.

Humorous thing is, WDDM was technically still based off XPDM (XDDM version found in XP). It was just that XDDM needed such heavy reworking Microsoft gave it a new name, WDDM with Longhorn development and it became truly a new project from how much work needed to be done. Xorg was and still is a mess. A lot of reworking is required but the argument of "17 years" is understandable and I sympathize over the argument that within those 17 years, Xorg could have be redone much like how XPDM was redone in five years. A "X12" could have been released within the last 17 years.
I sympathize with Wayland developers who wanted to make a new project from the ground up as well. The entire Wayland Vs Xorg debacle has been a mess and I wish it wasn't. The hostility between the camps is frustrating. Wayland development could have been much more friendly, and much more civilized without the hostility against Xorg. With how long its taken to get Wayland to the point where it is today, its understandable about why many still cling onto Xorg. Wayland developers should understand that.

Haven't felt that way since when Grsecurity was opensource and was not blatantly violating the "no furthur restrictions" clause in the GPL.

BTW: Dipshit fucks who will claim Grsecurity "isn't violating because it's a PATCH": Copyright holders (linus and everyone else) can control the distribution of annotations. So fuck you: patches are exactly that. Which is how the GPL can control edits made in "uhh it's in PATCH FORM, SO DOESN'T APPLY!!!" . Also Grsecurity is a non-seperable derivative: it doesn't work with anything other than the linux kernel.
Yes: IAAL. (I am a lawyer)

Anyway, Seconded.

It's the same shit with game developers, they somehow have acquired some semigod mentality and they believe they're owed your money and time just because they exist and have produced a product, in case of gnome devs, they unironically believe they should do whatever they want with the DE and if anyone criticizes them, they just start harassing and insulting them until they not only leave the conversation but stop using linux altogether.

>Why are everyone in the "open-source community" so asshurt about people having a choice recently?

Before 2009, the "open-source community" was the men, sorry "MAAALLLLEEEESSS" (as white people say: Aping their anti-man god Jesus, while they reject the pro-man diety YHWH), who wrote the software, usually in C.

After 2007, the "open-source community" is the "women in tech" that were injected. (linux chix, redhat-women, debian-women, etc). The software was written so the original men who wrote it could now be sidelined.

After 2012, the "open-source community" is the ""women"" in tech". There are now 2 generations of commisars: women and "women": the definitions of what "opensource was" by the men who wrote the software could now be kicked out.

After 2017, when Grsecurity started going closed-source and violated the GPL openly, it was clear that the men who owned the copyrights to the software would never enforce them. Decades of non-enforcement proved this.

After 2019 the "women and ""women"" in tech" had already committed a muder: Ian of Debian. He was a divorced man that wouldn't support them. They shot him via a "cop" at his doorway. The men who wrote the software could now be kicked out.

They also threatened linus with having one of his bad-looking daughters say he fucked her when she was a kid. No one would touch them as kids: they aren't good looking people. But the daughter (in college) was ready to go along with it.

YHWH allows child brides.
The white men of opensource follow Jesus and Jesus inspired beliefs socially, instead of YHWH.
That is why they do not have strength.

Long story short:
The men who wrote the software were banned from their own projects.
Since they will neither use the Federal courts to enforce their Copyrights (which they CAN rescind from free-takers, and CAN recind from those threatening them (infact in some cases == something of an automatic end to the copyright license :see the NY copyright cases on this)

I'm an opensource C programmer:
I've never been considered part of the "opensource-community" after about 2005, or 6, or 7, since I am against women's rights.

Prior to that I was a contributor to the Crossfire RPG project. My maps equal 1/3rd of the total in weight (bytes).

But women who do nothing ARE "the opensource community", while I who write opensource software, media, music, textures, code, 3d models, am not.

Why is that?

Here on /g/ I am called a "no coder" for my megabytes of source code I've written.
But people who post spinning box with the label "triangle" are called Programmers: since they are anti-pedo.

Explain that.
I've been programming for opensource since 2001 or so.
If you doubt that I program: https://chaosesqueteam.itch.io/chaosesque-anthology >https://sourceforge.net/ >projects/ >chaos >esque >anthology/

Not for FAKE PEOPLE who DO NOT EXIST.
These social media "personas" are fake bots.
That's why they use anime pics.

"what would opensource programmer nerds use if they were on social media"
1) Not their face (we always were anonomyous or psudo anonomyous)
2) They don't use social media.

They killed Ian from Debian using a cop at his door to his house. Killed him dead: because he was going to speak out against their takeover (systemd, trannies, women, etc)

Our Opensource world has been stolen from us by the Government and the corporations it uses as it's sock puppet.
First the consensus cracked with "linux-chix" "geek feminists" "debian women"
Then they consensus cracked more with "outreachery" (pay women to do nothing, pay the men who wrote the code nothing).
They stole ALL our donation dollars which were donated with the EXPRESS purpouse of hiring men to write more code (read the OLD Free Software Foundation reason for donations: from 1989: it was to enable hiring programmers): and gave it to WOMEN.

Just like JESUS "no stone woman" "better a millstone for PEDOS" "men who look at women have committed adultery" "dig out the eyes of mmmaalllesss who commit sin with their eyes" wanted.

We used to have a man-only C programmer only society run by a Jew.
Now we have a non-programmer run pro-woman pro-tranny society run by Christians.

Linux-kernel didn't require full time employees in 2000.
I remember it touted.

I got my first laptop in 1999. The HDD broke, sent it in, when it came back it wouldn't let me run windows, so I installed Mandrake, used it for a month. Then got the laptop fixed again and with the default windows install. Used windows for a day. Went back to Linux. Gave all my old proprietary games to my Cousin (he is now in prison often on meth, after moving with his family to tenessee).

I remeber how hard it was to get opensource programs: that every new opensource program was announced on slashdot and was a victory.

Now I'm berated for adding 200 weapons to an opensource fork I work on, and 50 maps, and city generation.
Back then I would have been thanked.
I can't get in touch with any programmers anymore.
Back then it was so easy.
All our forums are ghost towns now.
Even 4chan only has 12-13 posters in each thread.

What happened?
I think we're all on silo'd internet nodes: overlooked by military intelligence.
We don't have access to the full internet: infact I think there are now many IPv4 internets (4 billion max addresses).
I can't email Bruce Perens anymore: no matter what email provider I use. In the past I could. Changed a number of years ago.

Remeber the 100 page threads on 4chan when it was "less popular", how you couldn't keep up.
Strange it's "more popular" and yet threads only have 12-13 people.

I liked the one time I did it: programming in assembly.

Linux was most secure in the 2003-2012 era.

If you were a programmer you would know that that "5 line" commit took a few hours of testing to make sure it worked the same as the previous version; or that it added whatever feature you wanted.

Alot of features I've written in QuakeC and C were but a line or 2: but have added important and fun features to the game.

It's as much about knowing where to do your edits as it is wrighing the code.

You could re-write an entire function to add your feature:
or you could know where it can be added in one line if you know the actual codebase.

So what are you on about?
Why do you people call me a "no coder" when you don't know these things?
I've done megabyte long source files too. Sometimes you have to write things from scratch.
Sometimes you don't

Knowing makes all the difference.
You people are real faggot assholes.
And we will have to kill you: Just like you killed Ian Murdock of Debian. He wasn't murdered at a dock: but at a door.
You took over our thing.
We have to kill you for it. It's the only way.

Marry little girls.

It isn't "Digital Rights Management" but "Direct Rendering Interface"

But Linus seems to have OK'd real DRM recently and Mozilla has some of it in there... so have I missed something? Has Xorg added real DRM for the intel drivers too?

No, redhat kept people from doing so.
But XLibre will probably give you the option, they want to clean up X11 and bring it into the 21st century, maybe make X12 out of it. The way the Xorg OGs intended.

Look at my commit history on sourceforge.
I test all that stuff.

So yes I think he can.

Also: you really think when YOU see that he committed, is when he actually did the changes? You really think that highly of yourself? That he pushes to public servers IMMEDIATLY so you can benifit?

Also you're complaining about changing a static array to a switch statement: which will be a jump table.
What's so back about that? That's what switch statements are for: sequential lists of intergers. It's probably the fastest way to do it.

While people like yourself seethe when others don't use a switch statement for a "list" of non-sequential strings.
You dipshits in "geek feminism" "corrected" my highschool casino code, which was dealing with a non-sequential list of string s and intergers, simply waiting for input, to a "switch statement" and dissed and derided me: when that isn't what a switch statement is for to begin with.

Also talking to actual girls (not women) would be better. As you can see: once the girl became a biologically adult woman: she became a bitch (12 or so).

If you're against women's rights, and pro-loli bride, pro YHWH, anti-New-Testament, pro-stone woman to DEATH, anti-"millstone pedos";
they will deplatform you.

They deleted me from moddb for post I posted here on 4chan. Which an anti-child-bride white person here reported to moddb, and the FBI, and the Bar.

Also deleted the 13MB uploads of the engine source code to github (which was uploaded on request of another dev) for the same reason within a week.

They also kicked me off of sourceforge a decade ago for being anti-feminist and deleted my opensource code:
https://geekfeminismdotorg.wordpress.com/2009/10/19/mikeeusas-code-now-available-on-geekfeminism-org/
https://geekfeminismdotorg.wordpress.com/2009/10/08/psa-mikeeusas-hate-speech-and-harassment/

So maybe that's why no one can fork these projects? Because they are "deplatformed" (censored) when they did.

They only solution to censorship such as this, sytemically, is to kill your enemies. War.
Once words fail there is only Force.

They allready killed Ian Murdoch of Debian. Shot him dead at his doorstep using the police.
Dead and gone.

>BUT YOU CAN STILL FORK

>I realize you're an insane person, but I'm curious. You're against the New Testament because Jesus thinks people who harm children should have a millstone tied around their neck?
Correct.

YHWH explicitly allows child brides.
Jesus does not.

I hope Jesus dies.
He was tortured and killed for being an anti-pedo then.
And the Catholic church kept his creed under wraps for a millenia+a few centuries. During which the illiterate europeans married 7 and 8 yr old girl children, engaged in wars for land, and generally followed practices that were commensurate with the first 5 books of the Old Testament.

Then you taught the precursors of whites to read.
You wanted them to read your New Testament.
They did.

Now whites follow the precepts of Jesus of the New Testament.
1) They do not force their daughters to marry.
In the New Testament in the commentary there is discussion telling fathers to allow their daughters to remain unmarried, and to ask her who she wishes to marry, if anyone: and that it is good to remain unmarried.

This directly contradicts YHWH's command in the Old Testament "be fruitful and multiply" : the first post-garden commandment.

This also directly contradicts Devarim chapter 22 verse 28, in ancient archaic hebrew, greek, and latin: which allows men to rape (tahphas: to take (as to take a city)) female child in her fathers house: and keep the girl forver, paying a bride price for her.

Jesus hates that and says to drown pedos as such with millstones. Which is a direct refutation of YHWH's Law.

YHWH says to stone the adulteress to death.
Jesus says no: do not cast the first stone: I do not condemn you
Jesus then turns around and says that any MMAALLLEE who LOOKS at a woman: has committed adultery.
Jesus then says that anyone who's eyes cause them to sin: pluck their eyes out: anyone who's hand causes them to sin: chop it off.
Jesus then says that their is no male nor female: which again is a refutation of YHWH's order in the Old Testament.

>At least in all your blasphemy and Marcionism, you recognize that He is alive. Praying for you bud.

Marcionism is rejecting the old testament God: seeing him as the Adversary, and using only the New Testament (which Marcion compiled).

I like YHWH. I don't like the New Testament.
YHWH's Old Testament Law allows child brides.
White's New Testament Law does not.

I hope Jesus is killed: and YHWH retakes his throne in heaven: rising from where Whites have placed YHWH: as a demon in Hell.

Whites hate YHWH's Old Testament Law because it subjugates women to men (men are the "ba'al" (master, lord, ruler) of the female in YHWH's Law: in White's New Testament law the man is merely the "husband" (caretaker): a demotion).
It gives the little girls to men.

It makes men happy.
Whites hate this.

>Jesus is yahweh you fucking moron.

No he is not.
YHWH is a pro-man God: with pro-man laws in the first 5 books: his Law and scripture.
Jesus is a pro-woman god: with pro-women laws in his books: The New Testament.

"no stone woman"
"no marry little girls"
"no rape little girls"
"cut off mens genitals for heaven (matthew 19 greek)"
"men may not divorce women"
"drown pedos with millstones"
"gouge out men's eyes"
"men who look at women are the REAL adulterers"
"obey all earthly rulers"

It's all the opposite of YHWH's law.
Whites look at the OT law as a corrupted mistake.
Whites look at YHWH's law through the lens of women and Jesus: "does this law benifit women? No: it doesn't apply"
Whites re-translate things like "na'ar, paidia, puella" not as "girl" or "child": which is their actual meaning: but as "woman" or "young woman".
Then they cite their english language books and say "SEE: no mention of marrying little girls, or raping them (tahphas: to take: as to take a city")
Whites also, now, claim paidia "does not mean child" while calling me a paedophile (paidia+philos) "ITS A DIFFERENT WORD" (no it is not, white fuck)

Not any old rando can fork software like X. The reason being is that any new features you add will not be supported by any software. You need people to support your fork, which requires the right circumstances.

Being insane has nothing to do with intelligence and is even often pronounced in people with higher intelligence.

It's what you make with that intelligence, dummy.

I don't know. I'm just glad that I can continue using my desktop the way I like it; openbox+tint2, keynav, and vncs for remote access and to share hardware with the family and friends. Xfce for the desktops I lend to my family and friends because I know can't launch stuff from the terminal.

linux shouldn't be used as a desktop operating system. it is fundamentally oriented towards a multi-user or server use-case and its conventions become blithering idiocy when put in a single user environment

because they have little to no incentive to create a product that works, but a big incentive to make sure the product is written the way they like and in tune with their own idiosyncrasies.
frankly it's the thing that shakes my faith in the idea the most: it works half-decently for backend stuff, but when you're dealing with user-facing software it's a clusterfuck and the real-world solution is pretty much always "a monopolistic company takes all the open source work as a starting point, then put their own effectively proprietary engine on top of it to make it tolerable for end users, with open-source people effectively forced to conform to the new standard"

how you can impose that kind of order without being a monopolistic company is an unsolved problem.
