macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN

>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on the soldered SSD to save $0.05
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>components serial numbered and tied to the motherboard to prevent repair and replacement (including battery)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>flexgate cables that are so brittle they crack from opening your screen past 90 degrees more than 2 dozen times
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screens so fucking shit they have over 90ms response times (essentially 10Hz)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screen made from pajeet trash glass that cracks from temperature change in seasons or tape over the iBotnet webcam
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>so fire and explosion prone the FAA have banned them from all flights
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>uses phone CPU that's so shit it gets destroyed by decade old i3s from 2017 and can only "compete" by cheating at benchmarks in extreme edge cases with hardware accelerators
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>curryniggers at apploo get so full of sniffing their own currynigger silicon shit they ship currybooks with no fans and they run so hot they melt the keyboard keys
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

>keyboards with 63.5% failure rate
unheard of on PCs, and yet you curryniggers defend it with "jus werx fer me!"
just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good
this list goes on forever
there's no PC laptop as total fucking currynigger shit as crapple's streetshitter books
they are one of the biggest heaps of steaming currynigger shit in the history of computing second only to curryPhones

I have the 13 with the "good" display and the 7840u and it's one of the worst laptops I've used.
The display has the speed of a trashy 60hz VA panel despite being 120hz, it becomes a fucking toaster once you do something with it for more than 10 seconds, every time you open and close the lid the chassis flexes a lot around the hinge and the worst of all, the fucking trackpad is the only one I've ever used that constantly glitches and doesn't work properly.

What the FUCK happened. Don't get me wrong, I hate Apple and don't think their products are good, but their whole thing for a long time has been to make overpriced shit and sell themselves as a fashion brand instead of a computer brand, why are they trying to compete with Acer now? No one's gonna buy crapple shit if it's not perceived like how Gucci is perceived.

Weirdly enough, they have the same issue: It's luxury for broke people, anyone with a credit line can get Apple or Gucci products. People who are genuinely well off usually just buy shit from brands most people don't even know (Think shit like Patek-Philippe watches or Koenigsegg cars) because it's nice to use.

It's also worth noting: It's not the first time Apple offers a low-end option, they did it with the eMac, the iPhone 5C, and arguably the iPod Touch. Realistically, this new cheap Macbook is gonna be aimed at schools, just like the eMac

If you do anything that requires a lot of numerical input you will NEED a numberpad. I never used one until I had a job that required a lot of data entry. It's way faster to input via the number pad, also way faster to control the calculator via the number pad. Anti-numpad nerds are just aetheticians who've never actually done anything with their computer that would benefit with familiarity with the number pad AND are so small-brained they can't fathom a usecase for it.

Richfags still buy crapple, so it's not a direct comparison. There's not really a Koenigsegg equivalent when it comes to computers except for the highest-end Macs or custom builds whose specs are maxed out, but I'd expect for a rich person to think a crazy computer is poor people shit (why would I spend all my time on a gaming PC when I could be at the beach or in Dubai or at Epstein's island?).

>It's not the first time Apple offers a low-end option
AFAIK, eMacs were given away to schools for free because Apple wanted to build brand loyalty by starting kids off young. As for the iPhone 5C, I don't remember how much they were at the time but my guess is they were still perceived as the overpriced hood rich option compared to the poverty-tier LG phones poor people were stuck with (and I'm not saying LG was poverty-tier as a whole, I'm talking about the sub-$200 shitphones manufacturers were putting out that would crash trying to update). They were still pricy-ish for what the competition was, but now you see stuff like the Mac Mini you can buy right now for $599 (keep in mind that price is after Bidenflation!) and I have no idea why they're doing this. Thirdies would go into bankruptcy to have the latest iPhones during the 2010's, and now they're offering all this cheap shit, it's gonna ruin their brand reputation.

Going off your car comparison, imagine if Maserati made a $30K car trying to compete with Camrys and Civics. That's this.

>Richfags still buy crapple
Yeah, I didn't know how to fit it naturally into my post, but for phones, even if you have infinite money, you don't get any extra choices, it's still either "Get an iPhone" or "Get an Android", usually leaning towards the former because of iMessage and Facetime. I'd say it depends for laptops and desktops, it's not like all rich people hate vidya
>Schools and brand loyalty
Apple actually has a long history regarding them and the US education system, they don't give stuff for free, but they did give the US government hefty discounts.
>Phones
Yeah, they never made something properly poverty-tier, and they're never gonna. My point is that just like the 5C was a slightly cheaper iPhone, this is probably gonna be a slightly cheaper MacBook, not a Macbook for proper poorfags

Returning to the car comparison, I'd argue this is more along the lines of BMW releasing a subcompact 4-seater using the engine from their latest bike: It wouldn't be as cheap as buying a Camry or a Civic, but not as expensive as one of their actual models

$599 is poverty-tier for a Mac, I'd even go as far as to say it's unacceptable given the reputation for overpriced shit that they're going for. Doing a quick search on Dell's site, it looks like they only have one desktop model that's cheaper than that (Dell Slim starting at $399), with the next cheapest being the same price as the Mac Mini I was looking at ($599 for a Dell Tower). The cheapest Dell tiny computer (which is what I'm assuming the Mac Mini is trying to compete with) that isn't a thin client is a Dell Pro Micro for $729, so a PC that's supposed to be a direct competitor to a Mac Mini is more expensive! Imagine telling iToddlers a decade ago that a Mac would be the budget option in at least one class of computers.

We've basically come to the same conclusion here so I'm not gonna be /v/ and keep arguing anyway, I'm just flabbergasted that Apple is trying to be the budget option now.

I miss back in the 2010's when a bunch of companies were trying to do this. Mozilla had some Firefox OS, Ubuntu was trying to have something like this, and looks like Microsoft tried the same thing with their Windows Phone sinking ship. I guess there's not really a real world application for this sort of thing which is why all of them gave up on an otherwise cool idea.

I do CAD and CAM work and don't have a numpad or a nav keys.
I can input numbers faster than the boomers that use dumbpads.
Also if you do anything that requires a mouse a full size keyboard is an ergonomic nightmare.
Either the alpha keys are too far to the left or the mouse is too far to the right and it's just uncomfortable as shit.
Even if I wanted a dumbpad (I don't) I would rather have it programmed under a layer.
Full size fags are just smooth brains who are too stupid to understand how layers work.

Agreed. ChromeOS and Chromebook have taken some of their business and they want that back. I was one of those kids who started with a Macintosh in the 90s and it has formed a probably lifelong customer like Steve Jobs wanted.

For Apple itโ€™s
> Mercedes-Benz / BMW tier Hardware
When it shits the bed it aims everywhere. Especially the laptops!
> Honda / Toyota tier OS/Apps
Think of their interiors in particular. Honda/Toyota interiors are really well thought out, much like how a lot of macOS software is written to optimize convenience.

Most people on /g/ grew up with Windows though. This means they only ever had access to used and abused domestic cars like these certified hood classics:
> Chevy Cavalier / Acer Aspire (pictured running an inline-4 underpowered sad af AMD processor)
> Dodge Neon / Gateway
> Ford Taurus / Dell Inspiron
> Mercury Villager GS / Quantex Microsystems
> Oldsmobile / Compaq Presario

/g/ might as well be those people in Cuba still driving 50s era American cars.

Apple is realising how much money subscription services make.
They can sell a $600 Macbook that becomes $1000 over 3 years with Apple Music, TV and iCloud storage.
The Macbook Pro is ironically the most cost effective Macbook since you can add a $120 2TB microsd card into the sd card slot, Steam Deck style.

Anyone complaining about this is a tech illiterate tard who doesn't realize how raped laptop users are in this day and age.
If you narrow down your search to same price as
a base Macbook Air, the most popular CPU option you'll find is the Intel I7-1355U, a chip that performs worse than even the non-pro variant of the iPhone 16 chip. Even if you ignore the fact that all of these I7-1355U laptops come with 1080p LCD screens, mushy keyboards, plastic diving board trackpads, half the warranty period and one third of the battery life, they still would be a worse buy than a Macbook Air with a severely binned down M-series chipโ€”and that's assuming you still paid the full $1000 price tag.
The M1 Macbook Air decimated an entire category of laptop when it launched at $1000. The M4 did it again when it lowered the price back down to $1000. If these A19 powered laptops launch at $700-$800 it will be a blood bath for the upper end of the ewaste laptop market.

Not to mention that if you want a laptop or tablet sized display and keyboard, you're still hauling around a whole laptop's worth of matter and now you've got two batteries that need to be charged or your setup won't work.
I've tried it.
Desktop docks are a little more viable since the portability requirement is gone and the things will work with laptops too, but they're not as cheap as an adapter should be. But then if you have a laptop for portability it'll probably run circles around your phone anyway.
Google is making a renewed push for desktop features in Android but that's only because they're re basing ChromeOS on Android, so why not add that to the phones too?
I see as I am.

They have multiport's for the iPhone of various qualities. iOS is too locked down to say download a BitTorrent file sharing app to download The entire Pirates of the Caribbean movie series to your phone natively at least. It's better to use an old laptop from 2010 for that type of work
Also you'd have to be sure that your flash drive or microSD is even formatted correctly for iOS unless (correct me if I'm wrong) it natively supports whatever format. Back in the 2010s if you plugged an iPod classic into your desktop and formatted it on PC first, you'd have to reformat it in iTunes just to load music onto it on an iMac. And or vice versa, it's been so long since I've bothered syncing the 160 GB. Touchscreen devices are so much more intuitive to use but I miss the cozy scroll wheel. Those fat chunky proprietary cables Apple used before lightning are much much more durable but you'd have to baby a chrome iPod back just to not scratch it to high hell. Those scratches are the bane of my existence ugghhh
