Update Radeon Adrenalin driver to 25.6.3 (performance improvement)
RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.

>Product Notice
Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues.
Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor if you win the QC lottery.
Bad one causes HDR content to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Celestial's architecture design is complete, it will release in Q3/Q4 '26 the soonest imo.
>It seems that the pre-silicon model already has its firmware and power management ready, allowing Intelโ€™s partners to start testing it virtually with their systems.
>Once every kink has been ironed out and is confirmed to be working as intended, the Xe3 design can proceed to tapeout, the final step before fabrication begins.

panic bought a 5080. installed it successfully, got drivers working, it ran expedition 33 flawlessly. works well enough but not as impressive as i thought it would (sub-100 FPS on 1440p highest settings). i have a 10600K OC to 4.8 gHZ, surprisingly the CPU utilization was staying around 50%-67% while GPU utilization was at 94%.

what are some settings/configs i need to do to get the most out of 5080?

Bagged another one.

>i have a 10600K OC to 4.8 gHZ, surprisingly the CPU utilization was staying around 50%-67%
Gaming performance is still heavily reliant upon the CPU's single-threaded performance (not just boost clocks).
A stock 13600K nearly doubles the single-threaded rendering performance of a 10600K.

Read the "CPU Performance Info" section in Valve's Steam Performance Overlay article.

The important thing is to have 3D cache for gaming perf. If you must have a Ryzen 9 for work, you have two choices that are X3D and both are like a doubled version of a lower class Ryzen, 12 and 16 cores. However only half the cores (a chiplet) have the 3D cache, so you may have to do some fiddling to make sure only those cores are being used for a game. That is the reason why you're being told to get a 9800x3d with its 8 cores; it's effectively the same "good" half of a 9950x3d when serving a game, and it's better than the good half of a 9900x3d (only 6 cores).

I'm no electromagician, but I'd imagine they have capacitor tech that can handle equivalent loads to the ones on your motherboard that aren't miniature chemical bombs waiting to explode. There's no way they send stuff into space or build guided missiles that can fail without warning because a capacitor decided to shit the bed.

It required a ton of extra dev work to support back in the pre-dx12 days and ironically enough, one of the main selling point of dx12 and Vulkan was that it would support seamless multi GPU support even across igpu/dgpu and mixed brands but putting the responsibility onto Devs only accelerated the death of multi GPUs in gaming

but if they were to continue with it, that would eventually be resolved and improved? if they were to continue improving it, maybe they would even reach the point when each card would result if not in +100% performance, but at 60-70% extra. and shared memory pool would absolute peak kino
kinda makes no sense they just dropped it completely as if it never existed

I'm convinced everything else on a board will die before the troughhole capacitors will.

Ceramics I actually don't trust. I expect those to give issues before the troughhole soilds.

I'm gonna get all the parts I need after work today (though I will swap the SSD out with one for a heatsink) and am onto the actual 'building' portion. Anything I should know beforehand so that I don't fry my computer by accident?

These are the tutorials that I'm (generally) going to be using as a base. Another tutorial suggested wearing an anti-static wrist strap but it's not like I'm going to be rolling around on a shag carpet so I probably don't need it [memespoiler]I wasn't even gonna wear a shirt or shoes, I'm standing barefoot on a wood floor[/memespoiler]

The LGA1851 platform isn't worth the money (unless heavily discounted), it will only support Arrow Lake and Arrow Lake-Refresh.
Arrow Lake is fine if you need an Intel CPU for work, it's underwhelming for latency-sensitive tasks like gaming.

If you can get a Newegg Arrow Lake i7 + motherboard + 16GB memory bundle for $400, I'd say it's a nice value option.

AMD overspecced it because they are being overly cautious with first gen x3d vcache. In practice the 5700x3d pulls practically mobile CPU amounts of power and only runs slightly warm because of the insulating vcache, but still a lot cooler than the 5800x3d since it's a heavily downclocked and undervolted variant of it.

The fans bundled in that case are old compared to the newly released Pure Wings 3. I don't think it's a deal-breaker if you like the case.
I don't see any special noise optimizations made for the case.
Any decently reviewed case with good airflow can run relatively quietly if you set custom/static fan curves.

And the discount seems to be legit, it is not like they are inflating the price first to lower it later. It is a lot cheaper compared to PCs with CPU and GPU on other shops

I live in Russia, here the population is almost entirely urban. By urban I mean this.
And yes, people take concrete boxes with an area of 60-70 square meters per family for a mortgage for life, especially in Moscow, where such an apartment will cost 200-300 thousand dollars. My income is about 25 thousand dollars a year after taxes, I am a low-paid specialist (developer of aircraft, specialist in aviation strength)

The fact that I managed to have such a small room by the age of 32 is more a good thing than a bad thing.

Two questions:

What's a reasonable price for a 1650 Super? One near me asking $80, would $40 be a reasonable offer?

Is it worthwhile to upgrade my shitbox with said 1650 super? It's an old HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Tower โ€” i5 4590, 16Gb RAM, 750Ti, and a 320 Watt PSU. I see I would need an SATA to PCI-E adapter as well, but the PSU should handle the card I believe?

I've been considering building a whole new computer, but it takes me forever to make decisions, plus I want to see what happens in the GPU market (Arc B770? Nvidia Super refresh? Price normalization???) so in the mean time....

Uh, I know, I actually would like a Micro ATX board for this Micro ATX case, or a Mini ITX case (like an S300) for this Mini ITX mobo... but, hey, I don't need anything more in this computer than what these parts provide.

The 9900X is for... productivity; I intend to livestream 4k games while running other stuff, so I can park a core on the OS, eight on the game or LLM stuff, and the other three cores are free to help the others with OS or game, or be assigned to other things like converting a video while I'm doing other things.

This is to be an all-around do-everything machine with a small footprint.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Why would ITX lead to more fan noise? I'm using the PCIE 4 M.2 slot, which doesn't need the loud fan on the PCIE 5 M.2 slot. And, yes, coil whine is terrible... but I can *hear* the caps whine! (Thusly Jap Caps courtesy of Rubicon Japan tyvm).
>>105790566
I would, but I also want it to be small form factor, and it must be air cooled (not liquid cooled).

Otherwise, does this look like a decent build? Why so much hate for this CPU & MOBO in particular?

My Pro Intellimouse has had scroll issues for a year (occasionally will scroll up when scrolling down & vice versa) but Microsoft seems to have discontinued it now.
I love the mouse because of its relatively normal design that doesn't scream "GAYYYYMEEER" like so many other mice, and because it's wired so I don't have to worry about charging it.
Friend of mine recommended getting a Zowie EC2-C as replacement but it seems they've discontinued it in favour of wireless slop.

What would be some good replacement(s) that:
>have a normal ergonomic design and don't scream "GAYMER"
>are generally good quality in terms of build, sensor etc.
>are NOT wireless (I don't care how "easy" or "convenient" it is or how "little" it needs plugging in, I am NOT interested in any form of wireless slop

most high end mice are wireless at this point cause it's better for gaming but some of them you can plug in the cable and it will work just fine as well. Long lasting is rare at this point cause either the mechanical buttons die or the encoder and other than some razer or logitech mice barely anyone goes for both. Logitech ones still manage to die in a short timespan I read but no idea. Like I told the previous anon who asked about mice I use this >>105788379 but wired only has 1k pooling rate though you shouldn't go above this anyway.

I want to get a PCIe to NVMe adapter for my x16 lane. It's PCIE 3, I have a Z490 with a 10th gen Intel chip. Would it be better to get a 4TB SSD with or without DRAM/cache, if it's a newer SSD?
There's some PCIe 5.0/gen whatever drives like the Evo 990 Plus. It's up to 7000MB/s read, 6000MB/s write. With the adapter I'd be limited to a max speed of about 3000MB/s anyway. Would it still be better to maybe opt for an older, not as readily available anymore SSD that's 3.0 or 4.0, but has DRAM? Or still get a newer model that supports up to 5.0 and also has DRAM.
I mainly want a very fast (for my standards) drive to put all my games on. I currently have 5 SATA SSDs varying in performance and one older Samsung NVMe which I got with the mobo. I'd like to migrate the OS to the NVMe and then have another, bigger NVMe for my games.

The quick start guide didn't even have the most important thing, the motherboard layout with names for the components.

(financial) damage limitation is always a reasonable strategy.
The 9070 also overclocks pretty well, some can nearly match a stock 9070 XT's performance.
The OC in the pic isn't daily stable, but you can prob get 6~8% extra performance from a manual OC.

The price feels kind of shitty, but the $550 thing was always a launch offer.

Yeah if you mean the low framerate judder. Even 60 fps can look slightly juddery but with frame gen up to 120 fps it looks super smooth. Frame gen is essentially the same tech tv's use to smooth out 24 fps judder in movies and TV shows. It definitely does provide an objectively smoother image.

The 3080 is well worth the $100 more. Those extra 2gb of vram will make it age way better. You don't necessarily need 12 or 16gb vram nowadays but you definitely need more than 8. A 3080 is 40% faster than a 3070. You'd be paying 36% more for 40% more performance and also longevity.

Yeah. From my limited experience so far, you can get a very stable +6%, if you push it, it's couple % more.
But I play Darktide and Helldivers 2, which are very sensitive to at least undervolting. It's basically the same engine on both, and likes Nvidia a lot more. Will not crash in anything else, will crash in those, when pushed past that +6%.

Prices on budget gaming IPS monitors have collapsed recently. If you only want a Fast-IPS 1440p@100Hz you can get one for ~$100 here on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/KTC-QHD-100Hz-IPS-Adjustable/dp/B0D3PKPZCK

You can pickup a 1440p@180Hz Fast-IPS for only $140:
https://www.amazon.com/SANSUI-Monitor-Computer-ES-G27F2Q-Included/dp/B0CWCWL81G
https://www.amazon.com/VAIMI-Gaming-Monitor-180Hz-Computer/dp/B0DLWM1HF2?xpid=45wQ9QQHtyjIH

And for around the same price as that Dell S2725DS (100Hz) you can get a nicer 1440p@240Hz panel ($190):
https://www.amazon.com/2560x1440P-FreeSync-Compatible-DispalyPort-Speakers/dp/B0DJVZD56V

As always ordering a display off Amazon means if you aren't satisfied with it in 30-days just return it.
