Steam games briefly show "Launching" but then revert back to the "Play" button without starting. I've tried two distros and it happened on both. Native linux games launch, but at 1 fps. I have the correct Nvidia drivers too, the 570 version.
I tried openSUSE leap and Pop os Cosmic... help me please

I would've helped you if I could, but I can't, as I simply do not have this problem on my Windows machine.

honestly ive never had this issue
games on windows work perfectly, on linux the only issue wine has is audio tearing but its usually not noticable
only game with real issues was an obscure game, the physics simulation was bugged

Start steam from the terminal, start game, post error here.

glxgears doesn't do shit for steam, you need to run vkcube. Proton uses vulkan most of the time, not OpenGL.

idk why your system shows 2 gpus with one being llvmpipe (do you have an integrated one?) but it's probably the cause

Your dxvk is probably fucked
It happens to me on debian stable because nvidia drivers lag behind
Set launch options to PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

i think llvmpipe is cpu taking over for the graphic card, but its not integrated graphics

That isn’t an error, that just looks like startup information. You should see the clearing/killing of pids when you start the game (and it crashes)

It's just bypassing vulkan entirely and using the older directx to opengl instead
You will get a performance hit compared to using dxvk (probably like 20% slower than on windows) but it will work
If you want top performance, fix vulkan

dunno

If using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 fixed the problem, yes it's 100% a vulkan problem, because proton uses dxvk by default now
My guess is your nvidia drivers are out of date, which might just be a problem with what your distro is packaging (unless you're using something like arch)

Since you sound new and you’re using flatpak - I’ll save you some time later on if you continue this route. When you update your nvidia drivers, you will also need to update your steam flatpak to the corresponding driver version number (it will be selected automatically) otherwise it will use cpu rendering or iGPU (whatever is available in the device list)
>>105850478
I didn't know this, thanks. Does this mean I should try to use the system version of Steam in the future instead of flatpaks?

NTA but yes, steam is self-updating, on debian for example if you install steam from apt it just pulls the steam installer and steam manages its own updates
