to do this without kontext i'd need to use openpose, and pray I get the same expression with high denoise, then make the background with a mask or something so the characters dont fuck it up, and so on and so on.

kontext can also make edits that respect layers. IMPOSSIBLE with inpainting and high denoise, it'd look like shit even if carefully done.

I'm not sure whether to see it as proof of quality, or a clear sign of overcooking. Normally I'd lean towards the latter, but the two models I'm currently testing that do this, also happen to be the ones I've been enjoying more, ie. easier to use and / or more satisfying outputs. Other models in the same test tend to output mostly blank pages, and even with prompts I'd argue they end up worse at whatever task they are given. Could it be that these two models aren't overcooked, but instead the others might be undercooked? Especially since the supposedly overcooked ones do not seem to suffer from prompt adherence retardation.
