Too bad linux still blows as a daily driver machine you actually both consume and create with

I tried Pop OS because I was sick of how annoying microsoft conventions and windows 11 crap can be and it was awful, nothing Just Works even though thats what they billed this OS as. Feels like im using windows XP with less polish. You will almost certainly find that your software either isn't supported on linux or it performs FAR worse (as in more bugs and weird jank, lack of sub-feature support, etc). Fellow android users can relate to this- ios app is great, android version trash- many such cases

bash is god, linux for servers is still god, love using WSL 2 + Ubuntu to do all my software in. But to use for every day driving? hell no

BTW real English has always been policed. That's what a lexicon is. And no, retard, English has not actually much changed in 400 years since the first lexicon was put in force. That's why you can just read Shakespeare without issue, you can't read earlier writing as easily.

bitwig studio is less buggy and performs way better in terms of audio latency compared to when i used it on windows, all my games through steam work the exact same or sometimes better than when i played them on windows, and most desktop apps are just electron based slop anyway so its 1:1 same as windows except I use way way less RAM

You aren't running with full support. Yeah it should display, but for instance if your monitors have different refresh rates, then both display at the speed of the slowest refresh rate. AMD and Intel GPUs don't do this in Wayland.
>i havent had this problem at all either, what programs are you talking about
Well the biggest one is FFmpeg, because that includes any program that uses that as a dependency, but then there's also VLC and mpv. Youtube and the like can be hardware decoded because they use a different library.

AMD and Intel support multiple libraries. Nvidia only works with their own. This is like saying "DLSS works so upscalers work" and then telling someone to get bent if they play a game that only offers FSR. And anon, your screens aren't running at separate refresh rates.

>>105865080
It's a fair bit of work to do this, but you might be able to get a Windows VM working in Linux and a monitor setup that isn't a hassle. The least difficult solution to your problem is to just have a spare drive you install Windows onto for that one game that won't work in Linux. I have a Win10 IoT install just to play Hearts of Iron 3.
Anonymous No.105865184 [Report] >>105865212 >>105865976

Anon, X11 can do that, too, and there's no implementation of X11 that can do multi-monitor refresh rates. That's a 4:1 ratio, in that case it'd just render at 240hz and only give one monitor every fourth frame. That doesn't hold up when you're doing something with variable framerate.

It isn't. It might be running at 120hz instead of 144, or some other ratio. But either way, that doesn't hold up when variable refresh becomes an issue.

me neither but op was implying normies would now install linux and getting linux more widespread adoption will improve it but it wont happen from redpilling normies they simply will never know how to install an os it needs to be preinstalled and popular

sounds like a skill issue
my audio interface just werks out the box and i can play guitar through my DAW with less latency than on windows, and the daw is actually more performant on linux and i can stack more fx than the windows version on the same hardware
meanwhile on windows i had to fiddle with installing the driver through an exe like a fucking wild animal, and then deal with the fact that however windows is managing its processes is completely fucking my audio experience with odd static whenever my cpu got under load

its not a bug when youre using some retarded hardware configuration and expect it to just work, ive had way more issues with drivers and getting things to work in windows than i ever had in linux since you know, everything thats important is already included in the kernel, look at the mess people had to go through just to get a DS3 controller working on windows back in the day

You don't understand how little these linux-hopping normies understand. They lack the most basic knowledge, yet they decide to install linux and assume it just works. They don't know what is / or how to navigate in the terminal, yet they read guides and input commands blindly.

This elitist attitude just goes to show that Linux users are out of touch. His experience is the exact same as mine. The issue is not even making the software work. It works after some hurdles. The issue is doing so without bugs and perf. issues on a machine that is very expensive, when Windows just has everything optimized.

The reason the linux desktop is a meme is that it's always targeted at your mother, it's never targeted at the kind of guy who sorta-knows how to use regedit but not the terminal, e.g. a moderately skilled to skilled GUI user. that kind of user is suddenly trapped in a world where their options are a toy OS for your mom to use firefox, or an incomprehensible labyrinthine of over-abbreviated commands. want to tweak things a bit safe in the knowledge you can revert any changes at the click of a button? hahahahahahahaahahahaha sudo ack yourself.
