github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
Usage: paste into Powershell, run.

Same method, use Ohook
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

the 2021 ltsc iso is pretty crusty is there a downside to making an iso with ntlite that just includes all the updates?
never used one of these iso editors before but wouldn't that result in a cleaner fresh install than one that immediately has to catch up on 5 years worth of updates?
i dont want to do anything weird like try to strip components.

Crusty? You mean in how it's starts at a monthly update from 2021?
Why not just get WIndows Update to download the latest monthly update after you connect when it's installed?

>Why not just get WIndows Update to download the latest monthly update after you connect when it's installed?
idk i guess that's what i'm asking. not sure exactly how windows updates are applied i'm curious if baking them into the iso would result in a cleaner installation.
something akin to like when phones behave better sometimes if you factory reset them after a major update because there is like, state left behind by the older installation.

You could try downloading the July 2025 21H2 update file from the MS update catalog and adding it to the install that way when you get into it. Personally I don't think letting a fresh IoT LTSC 2021 install updates with Windows Update after I run ShutUp10 on it isn't that annoying.

software binary size has nothing to do with bloat or quality lmao
the retarded codecniggers are probably using a version of ffmpeg compiled with basic bitch minimal codecs which means less media formats
or perhaps they like you think software binary size means anything at all and built it all with really heavy dynamic linkage and the optimizer set to size instead of speed

ideally you should build it yourself since ffmpeg with support for every media format it supports isn't actually legal to distribute

Convince me to use either W11 or W10 LTSC

All my experiences with W11 have sucked so far but I've mostly gotten used to it sucking, and I actually really like that I can open tabs within windows using the Windows Explorer folder viewer, and that I can use the scroll wheel to quickly move through combined windows on the taskbar

I also will be using Adobe software and as I understand it they don't work on W10 anymore, though I'm also fine just pirating the last-working version.

Is there a way to force the current version of Photoshop etc to work with W10 LTSC IOT, and/or to add tabs to the Explorer folder viewer on W10? Or if on W11, what are the the recommended tools and overhauls to make it less shit that aren't already in the OP copypasta? Are there performance differences?

Lastly I have never installed an OS before and the rentry guide is a bit much for me, is there an even simpler guide or a video tutorial? I'm actually gonna be installing it on a second drive I'd add to a laptop I may or may not return so I need to make sure I don't accididentally overwrite the default drive and it's W11 home install and that I can easily change it to boot off that again if I do return it. Similarly, any tips on finding drivers in case the laptop doesn't work right with W10 right off the bat would be nice

Never had any issues with monkrus releases. The description mentions it unlocks installing on previous versions of W10, which I'd assume mean 20H2 / 1903 and older, which would also mean he didn't have to modify anything to make it work on current W10.
He's russian though, who knows if it's just a bad translation.
Anonymous No.105876287 [Report] >>105878869 >>105919241
>>105876221
To add, to unlock previous versions all he did is remove the version check that looks up what version of Windows you have. Without the check it installs and runs perfectly, which means it was bullshit all along and there's zero technical reason it can't work. Pretty much all software that "needs" W11 has been like this and are insanely easy to disable, they're literally cracked within hours of release.
And the "hours" portion is mostly the crackers not being aware it was released and then double checking their work and uploading it somewhere, the actual removing of the version check takes minutes.

Going by their size, I'd put a tenner on them being Windows Recovery partitions. Mount them and see if they have a \Recovery\[WindowsRE|<guid>]\*.wim file.
If they do, feel free to nuke - nothing stops you putting WinRE on your Windows volume if you don't like extraneous partitions. Google will tell you how.

>Has Win10 install on ancient but reliable as fuck Samsung 840 PRO SATA SSD 2.5"
>Selling CPU/Mobo/RAM of the same PC, so I need to basically disassemble the core of that PC and pack it up for sale.
The old PC with Win10 is a long serving Intel X99 mobo HEDT platform (5960X 8c/16t CPU + 16GB DDR4 ); really kind of annoyed neither they nor Threadripper really exist in the same way they used to for mixed enthusiast use, but I digress. I also have the new "replacement" PC built which is an AMD X670E mobo AM5 platform (7950X3D CPU + 64GB DDR5).

What is the chance I could connect the old SSD to the new PC and just boot up Win10 from there without it completely shitting the bed? The new PC for the moment has one drive with a Win11 install I was using for stability testing, so it should potentially see the Win10 and give an option to boot into it. The question is the Win10 install having a massive shitfit being on a completely different CPU, Mobo, RAM etc? I know that I can likely just boot into Win11 (or Linux for that matter) and just read the Win10 drive's files and sort things out, back up from there but that's a fuckload more time and effort to get right than being able to just boot Win10 and use the thing in the interim.

I know in the older days (ie Win7 and certainly prior) trying to do this would mean a likely clusterfuck, but some have said these days its not that much of an issue (with the exception of likely having to re-register Windows10 given the new mobo etc)?

>New drivers
What drivers would be really important to make sure to manually install vs allowing it to pull down what it thinks it needs from Windows? There are a few things that concern me such as the 7950X3D basically requiring the ThreadDirector2 upgrade (same one that allowed Intel P-core vs E-core scheduling for 11xxx and newer) and also making use of the Xbox Game Mode overlay to decide if something gets the VCache cores CCD or the standard one; that I THINK was Win11 only for one o those updates. Has anyone made use of a 2 CCD AMD X3D (ie 79xxX3D or 99xxX3D) CPU on Win10 without issue? I'm not sure if it still even makes use of the Xbox bullshit or if there's a better solution that auto-magically works these days.

Aside from the Win10 OS itself running off one SATA SSD (2.5"), I had a couple other SSDs, notably another SATA 2.5" and a PCI-E M.2 that I used for extra storage, game installs and Steam Libraries etc. Assuming I can get the Win10 freakout itself under control, will it generally detect these drives and mount them normally, or will it be an issue of different drive letters fucking everything up (ie SteamLibrary2 used to be on D:\ and now that drive is F:\ etc) that requires manually redetecting everything like installed games or applications, etc?

I would try updating all of your drivers with SDIO while it's plugged in:
https://www.glenn.delahoy.com/snappy-driver-installer-origin/

>start SDIO_x64
>select "Download Indexes Only"
>wait about 30 seconds for the indexes to download and the list of drivers to appear

This often fixes a lot of things. In a previous thread it fixed some Anon's touchpad and sound

Going to post this here since it seems to be a Windows/Font related issue. If its just on all OS or there's a better thread, feel free to ignore my post.
I recently played an RPGMakerXP game that uses Liberation Serif for its font. However, the game uses Sans Serif now, and it still doesn't fix itself even when I download the correct font and replace it both in the game's files, or on Windows itself. I even renamed it to the same as in-game and installed it, but alas, it doesn't work.
It used to be supported up until 2023, which seems to coorelate with Adobe stopping support on a lot of their older fonts.
Is the font just not supported anymore or am I just not installing it properly?
Anonymous No.105893799 [Report]

To add, the exact font in-game was OpenSans, which hasn't been supported since January 2023.

With that example model's case, it appears to be supported in W10 22H2, according to MSFT documentation:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-10-22h2-supported-amd-processors
>but with the whole complaining on the web about stuff not being scheduled right, YMMV
Either way: make sure your CPU is on the list, and you should (probably) be fine.

I have an early version of Windows 10 and an intel i3 with built in UHD Graphics 630 built in from 5 years ago that can output 60hz at 4k to my Samsung TV that is capable of HDR. I Tried enabling HDR and playing a HDR movie on latest MPC-HC and it was slow and glitchy. Not quite maxing out performance monitor but close.

Is there any chance I don't need to upgrade my computer to play downloaded 4k HDR movies and I should just try upgrading to the latest version of windows 11 clean install and maybe it will work better/right? I heard 10 has issues with HDR. Thanks a bunch. you could also try Enterprise/Education and some debloater like ShutUp10 or WinUtil

Telemetry for the most part is easily disabled with a single group policy, but you'll still have to use debloaters if you really want even deeper cleaning (for example, Defender telemetry), but that's more of a preference

do you know any other languages?

I already knew python so the leap wasn't too bad, but the learning curve seems like it'd be steeper for powershell due to how most types are objects. pretty much all commands are able to pipe directly into another command.

I feel like the easiest way to learn is to pick an existing module (command) that can return useful data or do something useful, and play with that a little. make something useful for yourself. The active directory module is an obvious choice if you're at work with that environment.

it's not too bad if you know a little python already. just pretend like everything is an object, because basically it is. even arrays and dicts are treated like objects usually. it feels much more intelligently designed than python.

it's REALLY nice because since most things are objects, you can pipe them into WHERE or SELECT and quickly filter data. almost feels like an SQL query. can't do that with python. for example, you can load a CSV into memory and then grab one column by header name just by piping like 3 commands in a single line. it's beautiful.

I was able to learn pretty quick because I needed a utility at work to migrate user's profiles, but not allowed to install unapproved software. so I wrote my own, including a script that automatically restores their files upon first login.

good luck anon, it's pretty fun

Edge for Business, it's different to the regular Edge that comes preloaded with Windows, it's like an Enterprise SKU (which everyone should be using in the big 25) except it's completely free. The out of box experience is really clean, and if you know how to import the ADMX templates, you can use the Group Policy editor to turn off things you don't like, such as Copilot, Connected Experiences, telemetry and diagnostics.

I've installed and upgraded through windows 7, 10, and 11 on at least 100 different unique machines now in my relatively short career. Windows 11 is just inexplicably fucking randomly slow. There is no rhyme or reason, it's either just slow or it's not. It's practically 50/50. New hardware, old hardware, it doesn't matter. One install can be slow, and then I reimage on the same exact hardware and suddenly it's fast.

It is such a steaming pile of dog shit that I stopped caring and abandoned it months ago for my personal computers and now I solely run W10 LTSC. W10 is still as responsive as ever before. The start menu doesn't randomly fucking freeze. File explorer doesn't randomly fucking freeze. W10 was the last OS written by competent devs.

- it just feels slower, with random sites sometimes taking 7 seconds to load
- videos stutter like crazy after a bit with HW acc on
- google keeps captchaing me every time I try to search something
- I get random freezes when scrolling through sites
- no real tab resource management (I know there's an extension but still)
- abandonware split view (official?) extension
among other minor stuff

What games did you try? It's not as simple as that.
For example, CoD MW3 (I don't play that any longer but whatever) was running smoothly on my W10 system - I always disabled HAGS too. I used game managed vsync.
But when I updated to W11 I did get huge cpu spikes and frame pacing was a problem too. Solution? Enable HAGS and forcing vsync management via nvidia drivers instead.

For example, HAGS has changed from W10. W11 also has new flip model for borderless fullscreen applications... Things are not 1:1 here.

From the rentry:

>If you're installing on a system with previous installations and multiple physical drives, you'll want to install a free partition management tool like Minitool, and wipe the EFI partitions off all your non-OS drives.

>The reason for this is because if you have a drive you used for a previous installation but never fully formatted it, it will still have an EFI partition and that EFI partition will be used by the Windows installer even if it's on a different drive than where you're trying to install Windows now, resulting in ugly scenarios such as having Windows on physical drive 1 and the EFI partition on physical drive 2.

>In that scenario if you were to remove or format the drive with the EFI partition, you'll delete it and won't be able to boot anymore. Wiping the EFI partitions off all other drives before installation will ensure that the EFI and system partitions are installed to the same drive

I'm going to be installing W10 LTSC on a new nvme drive I bought for a laptop, do I just install the drive, then turn the laptop back on and in it's current normal W11 OS, download minitool and it's as simple as selecting the new drive and clicking a button that says "wipe"?

Or is clearing the EFI partition more involved then that? Or do I not need to do this step at all since the SSD i'm adding is new and shouldn't have an existing OS installation on it?

Easiest way to wipe drives is by using diskpart's clean command while you're booted into a setup USB.

if you're replacing the drive then the new drive is clean already
if you're adding it and will have 2 drives then yeah you should use minitool and delete the EFI from the old drive

Windows 11 Home if you are a normalchad, if you are mindbroken cattle go for something as inconvenient and convoluted as possible to make sure to remove the only useful part of windows, compatibility with everything, and larp as a frankenstein microsoft abortion version of debian lts without any privacy or foss aspects. I will be adding it and will have two drives, but I'm wanting to install W10 LTSC to the new drive, while leaving everything on the old drive, including the current W11 install, intact, and to dual boot between w10 and w11

Only issue is that even if I make my OS perfectly private, most sites are starting to make laws that prevent me from grooming anyone, not based...
