>>105872116 (OP)I think people are unaware of how dire the browser situtation is. It seems very likely that Mozilla won't receive its normal funding from Google soon. They lowered it to 70% dependency, but that's still a huge amount. This means they'll have to find funding elsewhere, probably by adopting Google like practices. The only other options are Chromium based, ie they are Chrome reskins. Unless you want to use Safari. I have zero hope for Ladybird. You cannot develop something as massive and important as a browser engine by yourself. It's just not possible.

>>105874643Their actual numbers have never been good for making profit from their search engines or youtube or anything, they needed to do something. Gambling their monopoly probably wasn't the best play, but if they had to do that their numbers really were bad.
And I'm not gonna be some delusional person who thinks they're just trying to shake people out here, you don't disable 4chanX and also ublock and not expect people to leave for good. Maybe personal data just isn't selling like it used to? Or people are just so short on spending money they aren't making as much as they used to on ads?
>>105874862I'm pretty sure they do this because they know most of their userbase isn't technical enough to even care. You'd be amazed what non technical people put up with because they have no idea it doesn't have to be this bad. Most people don't even use an adblocker in the first place anyway.
>>105874757i have 1gbps internet and firefox loads everything slightly slower but some websites it would load them insanely slow. im not sure if its due to anti bot protections every site has now but with brave everything loads instantly. it feels like they deliberately made it shitter or all the antibot shit has killed firefox. it used to be fine with betterfox but now even betterfox doesnt solve my problem. so its not ur internet
>>105874899If they're deliberately targeting adblockers though they're targeting people who have been using them for years and might be somewhat technical.
I don't really believe this theory because there's no way they actually think the amount of ads they have every video on youtube or on some random webpage isn't gonna be extremely obtrusive to some guy using an adblocker for the last 10 years - they have to know he'll switch, and he's bound to switch because of the sheer quantity of ads.
This excuse worked the first time with the little warning messages and making it disabled but re-enableable, but it won't work this time where they just outright make them not work unless you do a extremely specific thing that they'll patch soon.
>>105874129Transilla wastes like 90% of their revenue on woke propaganda. Only a fraction goes into actual developmental costs. I wouldn't worry about it. Plus, if things actually become dire, Google will just become forced to give them money once again lest face yet another legal battle for being a monopoly.
Firefox eats all my memory, what do?
>>105874957They're targeting all manifest v2 addons, which is why 4chan-x was hit as well. They want to switch completely to manifest v3, and they are. Firefox will for the most part switch too, except where adblockers are concerned. Manifest v3 is more safe for the end user, at the cost of killing things like uBlock Origin. uBOL, for example, can't pull down new filter lists like uBo can, because that functionality is disabled in manifest v3. This stops malicious addons from downloading shit from the internet, as an example.
They may be using this as an excuse to hit adblockers, but at the same time there are genuine reasons to use v3, and a lot of them are security. Firefox even had something like this happen about 10 years ago, when Mozilla decided to disallow XORG or whatever it was. I guess what I'm saying is that it's a complicated situation.

Enforce that shit EVEN more and just flat out deny the exploits exist.

I wonder if the next move will be FORCING people to use MFA internet and eliminating offline means.
By the way, prisons are at capacity nowadays because kids already want to break this system. This could turn that prison climate into full mad max. I've already been attacked by youths. I know many people have been.
Shit like this is causing it.
And they justify it on the basis of "protecting children". Whose children? Certainly not any around me. They're being attacked in the streets because you impoverished so many youths with these protocols and then covered up those facts.
But it's reached a point where the reality is so prima facie obvious and so in conflict with reported statistics that the average joe is beginning to think they're nothing but horseshit in some Half Lie 2 -esque way.
