The main point of it is shown: FR and IR are linked. As described, this was done using REW's EQ matching, which is not precise enough, so I added manual EQ changes afterwards.
REW's EQ and arithmetic functions are not perfectly precise either, most noticeably at high frequencies.
If you are adamant that this needs fixing, I will do so when I can, but as it is the measurements show both the link and lack of use of IR as these differences can be attributed to differences in the FR.

there are only a handful of "flagship," DACs implemented in >70% of devices. AK4493/AK4499, CS43131/CS43198, ES9039/ES9069.
These are the newest gen of these companies' DACs, and they all have good performance metrics. it's up the specific manufacturer to implement it well, with good supporting architecture to manage clock, jitter, and interface with inputs smoothly (allow high pcm/dsd decoding, reliable usb, etc.)
there are excellent sources from $50-$300. not much more needs to be spent, and you get into inverse returns (higher THD and higher noise floor with tube amps, R2R, or other B.S.).

Let me just say that I am not an audiophile, I'm just curious about iem's. Ive never had good luck wearing earbuds that I could tolerate for more then 30 mins. Flatheads are the only ones I can tolerate for long periods of listening.

Is it worth looking into buying special eartips or bullethead gels? Ive always just felt uncomfortable or felt pressure build up in my ears canal after wearing gels so I'm wondering if I'm just built not to enjoy them.

Like to hear from other anons that found what worked for them.
