I'm looking for a stainless steel kitchen utensil set that’s built solid—none of that thin, flimsy stuff. I want handles and stems that are at least half an inch thick, all the way through. When I’m stirring soup, the utensil shouldn’t flex or bend backward. And if I have to bend it back into shape, I don’t want it to end up with a weak spot like an overused paper clip. Is that really too much to ask?

finally i could pick it up
bunch of reviews following

qcy H3 pro
my first big headphones in over a decade, thought they would be better, but it may be nitpicks and autism. will describe in more detail in later post

minimal wallet
very nice of you don't use much cash (the middle has space for a couple bills). window for ID (there is also a thinner version without the id side).

shopping bags
they are nice, and cheap, nice material, cute prints.

30w mini charger
absolutely tiny and actually does deliver. does heat up a bunch but I saw an autistic detailed review and I think it's okay. will post later.
Xiaomi charger for scale.

nail files
best nail files I know, same ones get sold on Amazon for 15 bucks. (I got them for 1€).

small typec extension cord (for the mini powerbank that will come in a month)
seems a bit weird, the cable is fat and it's like the casing is slightly loose or something, dunno maybe it's super shielded and protected or something.

now the headset

the positives are, it's pretty comfortable, goes completely over the ears, adjustment is good, buttons are nice, swiveling and portable, earpads are nice, all the audio stuff like ldac and double wired mode. battery is probably good too. not sure if they're light or not, nothing to compare too. ears do get a bit toasty but in autumn I hope it will be good. fits with a cap well.

they're prett loud but sound was weird in the beginning, I know by default full sized headphones are not as good as IEMs, but it was kinda bad. but turns out by default they have an EQ preset that's pretty aggressive, and without it they sound REAL bad. but I changed it slightly and sound improved instantly and significantly, so you can tune it in the app. still I think not as good as my QCY HT05 melobuds, but it's comparable.
there is also a bit of a white noise when they're on. this might be autism and sensitivity on my part, I always have this issue with even wired iems, and majority will probably not notice, but if you're planning to listen to something at 10% volume it would be annoying.

ANC didn't *blow* me away. again I only have melobuds and space travels to compare to, melobuds are likely the winner and h3 pro being second place, slightly behind. I think headphones filter speech better than melobuds, but ambient noise slightly worse, UNLESS you go into the app and click adaptive anc and it will rebuild the noise profile and supress it better. not sure if that happens if you don't use the app, cause with the app it actually takes like 5 seconds to do it. after that it seems pretty damn good. while listening to music you won't hear much.

the app is pretty clunky. but there is guest mode, and after you set up you can take away permissions so it won't even connect to the net.
10 band EQ with presets and custom presets. several anc modes. transparency mode has no settings, compared to melobuds where you can tune intensity. change button functions.

some more things I don't like, when switching modes there's a pretty loud Asian lady telling you what mode it is, and it shuts off sound from your device completely, so whatever plays during mode switch you just don't hear.
on the melobuds it just makes the volume quieter, that's much better than this.
the latency is a bit higher than melobuds too, eve on gaming mode. the apps kinda buggy too sometimes and I have to reconnect or setting EQ presets can be weird.
not sure if ldac is a big deal or not, but with it you can't use multipoint, I'm just gonna turn it off for battery I guess. it also completely reboot them when turning it on or off. as well as using wired mode kinda reboots them, you can't hotplug and unplug without losing audio and things like that.

but on that point, wired audio is great, works both with type c and 3.5mm. I bought a cable with mic and it works real well, but don't buy the one with the inline controller cause the mic is bad on it.
for the headphone built in mic you can forget it. when using the communication BT channel audio becomes absolute DOGSHIT, you can only use it for answering calls, for anything else it's unusable due to this. the mic itself is alright indoors though.
I haven't tested if the built in mic works while wired with type c either.

that's probably about it. charging is 2-5w.

Both of the sanding/engraving pens work very well for detail work on 3D prints.
The digital angle gauge looks to be very accurate, got no complaints with it.
The router table insert is kinda shit, it's accurate enough and quite thick so it would seem to be decent quality, but the surface finish is like these typical cnc radial grooves. I'm sure there's a word for it I don't know, but since it's not fully flat but has radially aligned grooves your work pieces don't glide straight over it, instead they get caught on the tool marks. It's still usable but not great.
Miter gauge is alright. Angles are accurate to about a degree which is OK for most stuff, but I drilled through it in the 90 and 45 degree spots so I have it dead accurate there if I want to. It's got a decent weight and size to it.

I think some engraving shits might have came with my soldering iron. I will have to check.

I have sanding sponges, glass files, and even got a sanding knife (like a hobby knife except the blades have different grits) recently so I should be good on sanding. I have looked at that dspiae pen sander before and changing grit seems like a pain unless you pay $$ for more heads.

The angle gauge looks interesting. I was thinking of getting one of those laser ones that attaches to tripods and projects lines.

I don't think I'll be cutting any big holes...

Mitre gauge?? How do you use that with 3D printing?

Everything is 4k indoor 180 degree stuff.

You'd need a 103 mm lens for full frame, 64.68 mm lens for apsc, or 51.5 mm lens for m43 to achieve a 20 degrees fov.

Borrow someone's mirrorless camera and tripod, hook the camera up to an hdmi capture dongle, plug it into your computer, and record using obs studio or something.

There was a low price Toocki charger I ordered and it already shipped when I found Russian youtubers showing it's shit. High ripple voltage. >200mV ripple at 5V. Multiple guys have shown such results.
I have measured 250mV ripple on the cheapest USB supplies with no output filter. Just a little SMPS chip and then straight out the USB port. That's is bad. The Toocki charger has to be as cheaply made.
This knocks Toocki down to low tier brand in my book.

Alright cool. It was in the coin page for 50% off.
From my research the OEM chargers (Apple/Samsung/etc) supply ~50mV or less ripple.
Better after market are in 100mV range.
Low tier are above 200mV.
But I guess it doesn't matter much anyways. There's a forum thread that says ripple voltage is not even in the USB spec. At the very least this metric gives a general gauge of build quality.

Supertack overlaps with both, but Cryogrip is almost universally considered the best gripping plate, I have to put in some real effort to get some prints even off Glacier, and Frostbite is even grippier. Adhesion is unreal on these, you can even run them as cold plates. Also if you end up getting Frostbite, make sure not to use IPA on it, only soap and water.
>Can I not just print a scraper?
You can, and you most likely have the blade and stl in the box already, but I printed a couple different and didn't like any of them. I've got a picrel and prefer it -- especially the plastic blade that doesn't scratch anything. Not required, just my preference.
Now the LED strip I would consider an essential upgrade. The built-in light is so anemic it's absolutely useless, and considering the camera quality it's even worse than useless. Strip will actually make you able to see a thing remotely.

white noise to sort of give the ANC a buffer zone is standard on cheaper cans
my brother bought a pair of the full size sony ones that go for $250usd and those are insane when it comes to comfort and ANC. i haven't used them enough for the audio quality but at that price i'm sure it blows any edifier or qcy out of the water
i myself bought a pair of full headphones for $22 on a flash sale and in addition to the white noise, one side began experiencing issues where the white noise was louder than the other which made the ANC unusable
Anonymous No.105947233 [Report] >>105947324
>>105946715
it's not from anc, just component noise cause amplification is too high.
they're loud for me at 50% volume alreadym there just needs to be a way to control the amplification in the hardware.
either that or me having to solder a couple resistors to the drivers.

guess I should order a soldering iron, eh?
anyone know what kind of resistors I should use, actually?
Anonymous No.105947324 [Report] >>105947999
>>105947233
can i get a source for "component noise", because a cursory google search tells you that modern ANC uses a combo of white noise plus anti-phase soundwaves to cancel outside noise out
and then, you don't even know where the source of this feedback comes from, but you're asking what capacity resistors you should be using? and where are you even going to tack them onto the board in the first place?

jesus christ i should've listened to that anon who said people here don't know shit about audio. people just making shit up like goddamn
Anonymous No.105947955 [Report]
yeah u silly noobs, it's the anc you're hearing if it's background "white noise."

NTA, but the source is "physics". Noise floor of cheap DAC (converts bytes received via BT into current that drives the driver) is high (a lot of audible noise, high noise to signal ratio), then this signal gets amplified -- both signal and noise -- and that's what you hear.
You can hear the same thing with regular wired headphones if they're connected to the dirty output , or even not top-tier high output amp.

Anonymous No.105948140 [Report] >>105948366 >>105948401

no, hold on. we're talking about different things here
IEMs and hi-fidelity drivers picking up signals with/out the DAC are beeps, boops and bzzts. KZ had a huge problem with this on their bluetooth modules and first sets of bluetooth wireless earbuds. this issue is mostly solved on even the cheapest earbuds nowadays.
the white noise on cheaper earphones to help with the weaker ANC levels are a constant "psssssh" sound. this is what he's hearing.
this sound is pretty much eliminated on more expensive headphones like the bose/sony/sennies because they use multiple mics to perform the ANC function
Anonymous No.105948366 [Report] >>105948427 >>105948448
>>105948140
so in summary, the tuning of the headphones is not the problem - the ANC method is
sony's newest headphones uses 6 pairs of mics working in combination to cancel out noise as well as a internal chip which has propriety programming in it. bose's newest model uses several pairs of mics and an algo which changes how it cancels sound depending on if you're moving or not. they also cost $330 and 430 which is 8-10 times more than these cheap chink cans and this is why they use white noise

did it even matter that i typed this up or is the dude with a solder iron going to desolder a random fucking resistor in his headphones and replace it with a higher rated one and pray it works lmao. fuck.

no, it's the component noise. it is there even with anc off.
the amplification or gain is just set too high.
it's nothing to do with anc here.

on my IEMs there is no such thing, but there is noise with anc from anc. probably because smaller drivers smaller currents and resistance
Anonymous No.105948427 [Report]
>>105948366
it's not as complicated as you make it out to be. you just have to add a resistor or two into the wire that goes to the driver.
it will lower all volume so the noise will get lower too.
could even use potentiometers for that but tuning them to have the same resistance would be a shit without a meter
Anonymous No.105948448 [Report]
>>105948366
also, actually on the headphone turning on and doesn't introduce more noise, so the anc itself is good. just need to turn down the gain.

Calipers are the most important tool.
Deburrer and scraper are nice-to-haves though to be fair I've never needed my scraper with my bambulab stuff.
Filament/wire cutters are also good to have and wire strippers if you do a lot with electronics.
Other stuff that you may want depending on your uses:
Heat inserts/threaded inserts, cheap filament (the A1 is really good, so you can get away with some bottom of the barrel PLA.

is it safe to buy solder from Ali? I think I'm gonna get a soldering iron and try to add resistors if I don't find any other headphones without the hiss.

it's a shame because they actually have all the other features I want, good anc, good wired, good sound... I'm really starting to hate my autistic ears that pick these things up. I watched and read dozens of reviews and NO ONE talked about this. I had this with wired IEMs too and o one was having that issue either.

but since impedance plugs exist, there have to be other people with this issue.

for what it's worth it should be really easy cause it's just black and red cable going into the driver from the PCB, it's not like I would be swapping dacs or amps.

1. Belt clip & springy thing -- every single door in my office building requires a key card, I just put it on the springy thing, clipped to the belt with a clip and now I look like a nerd, but it's actually really comfy. Without it I almost lost the card twice.
2. Wire chainrings, I prefer them to regular solid ones -- easier to use, do not deform slightly every time you put/remove a key, can be colorful.
3. Really small flashlight with a magnet tail. It was 2 bucks and proven to be extremely useful. Doesn't weigh down your pocket, can be stuck to metal surfaces to keep your hands free and has a police strobe and UV light modes among others.
4. Chainring quick release. Seemed like a gimmick at first, but with a flashlight on a keyring it makes sense. Sometimes I need a light for some time, so I can just easily unclip it from the ring and use it on its own.
These are my literal EDC items, I use (or at least carry) them for real every single day.

Plenty of power, fine temp control, good selection of tips with the stock one covering most of the casual jobs you want to do. In case anyone didn't know, USPS has a system called informed delivery which allows you to centralize all tracking for any and all packages AND mail that is coming to your house. They scan everything at all points in transit and you can get images of bills, letters and even magazines and stuff that will hit your mailbox or doorstep a week before it does. Its really helpful if you have packages coming from different companies or purchase platforms like amazon or aliexpress or whatever else, all the tracking ends up in this system and its a single easy webpage to keep track of stuff.

I use this titanium pocket clip and it doesn't bother me. The clip part goes outside the pocket and I shift the clip to the edge of the pocket. It suspends the big boi and I don't feel it's weight at all. On the other pocket I clip my flashlight cuz when I was clipping them on the same side the flashlight liked to eat the celidor scales. In the small jeans pocket I carry Knipex Cobra XS and a Clipper lighter and for the most part that's my EDC. My wallet is still the bulkiest of everything I shove in my pockets funnily enough.

And yes the SwissCard screwdriver on the dangler comes in handy when dealing with smaller screws, and the dangler on the clip helps to keep it in place when using the SAK, I highly recommend this combo.

Another one from BMAX, B5A Pro, Ryzen 7 5825U. Full bios, works great with Linux without any faffing about, still quiet enough that I don't pay attention to it when it's on the desk right in front of me.
They now have Ryzen 395+ Max ones, very expensive, but those can rival mobile RTX4070 easily. Would be nice to try one out, but I'm not paying a grand and a half just to satisfy my curiosity.

I don't know still seems expensive to me. not sure what I'd use it for either, the level of repairs where I'd need one is probably too high.

also I think while it does accept t12 tips ther are too long to use in it

A soldering iron is dumb, you can't regulate the temperature and it doesn't heat up fast. A soldering station uses processors and whatnot to regulate the temperature and heats up really quick. A Pinecil puts soldering station features into a soldering iron form factor, relying on USB-PD power instead of a large base station because microprocessors are magic.

A Pinecil is a solid choice, good for beginner work and will be good for bigger jobs in the future as well.

I see. thanks.
I don't think it's for beginners simply because it costs more than all the tools I ever owned in my life put together. and I have a bunch of autistic bike ones.
I don't doubt it's worth it for some people but I can't justify it for myself, it would be sitting on a shelf most of the time.
and all the smart features I don't need won't make much of a difference to me.

that t75 costs 5 bucks, has all that microcontroller stuff to control the tip heat, turns heat off when it's not needed on when needed, sets temperature. I'm not sure what else I could possibly need, personally. though it's cool to have fancy toys with settings and screens, but its probably overkill.
actually, what I would like is selecting the PD Trigger settings and things like that, cause the powerbanks I have are all a bit different than what these cheaper ones are expected to run from. I saw one c210 iron (picrel) where you can set it manually even and that really piqued my interest, but it's still like 20 euros and I want to wait for the cheap one I ordered at least https://a.aliexpress.com/_EGKvH3Y
trying to figure out different tips also a bit of a pain, both the shapes and types.

one thing I don't know about is precise temperature control and I heard about something like "calibrating the tips" because of different resistance or impedance or something. cause you apparently can burn some tips in some irons cause you overhear them? this is also alien to me cause the tips I used in my old iron were a solid bar of some metal that looks more like a rod for welding plugged into mains. it would take minutes to heat up and like 15 to cool down. so really anything is faster than that. I never worked with tiny heat sensitive components for that to matter. maybe phone repair would need it?

It's nice to have an ability to save your track, check the altitude and directions, but I mostly use it as a step counter anyway. last week some of you were discussing portable consoles, specifically the r36s. decided to look into it, and the thing seems to be able to play a port of the pc version of gta vice city and shit. but there are versions of this console being sold under the same name that feature a single memory chip instead of two. and that greatly reduces the performance.
temu had the lower priced listing i could find, and even if the thing ends up being the low performance clone, i would just get a refund and be stuck with a standalone sbc that needs no peripherals to boot linux and can also play old gameboy 3d tier shit.
turns out it is not a clone, its the real deal. two memory chips, different tabs on the battery lid, arkos instead of some emuelec shit, etc. the screen look amazing, bee tee double-u, very nice contrast.
started it up, takes about 10 seconds to fully boot, launched the included psp gta vice city stories and it plays just fine. there are some minor breaks when it seems to be loading shit, like if you playing the game from a hdd instead of an ssd, so the sd card is probably not the best, as most of the internet claims.
when i have some time ill probably add a ssd cooler to the soc (making sure it wont touch the ram chips), a vibrator and update arkos while also changing the sd card for a better chink one.
here is the link, it was just $27 for the purple one when i bought it, but now is quite more expensive (the 64gb or 128gb is the size of the sdcard, there is no internal memory, it boot from the card, no point in getting a shitty larger card)

sunglasses and bike adapters

only like 1.50 each (praise coins), I can finally stop squinting now I think, except they don't protect from the top like 99% of glasses, for some reason.

bent them into better shapes to wrap around properly instead of being flat and blocking nothing. the mesh one actually doesn't hinder peripheral at all, which is cool. doesn't block everything obviously though.

https://a.aliexpress.com/_EJXUk9u

silver ones are actually kinda metal so they're a bit heavy. black ones are some sort of metal coated plastic? so you have to be more careful bending them.
