>>105948266Thank you.
>>105966696I just might do that, however, tech is a career not just a job so I would still be a a tech worker.
>>105966696Going to learn mechanic after my masters.
>>105966788mechanic is good if you work in such a way that does not destroy your back and knees.
>>105966969That's the plan. And honestly, I want to be able to work on my brakes without voiding my insurance (Germany, you cannot touch your brakes if you're not a mechanic, brake fluid is off the table until you become a master btw.).
>>105966992Costs at most 150-200$ in tools and high quality materials to change your brakes but mechanics charge like 1-2k$ depending upon how much of a sucker you look like.
>>105966992how do they know you worked on your brakes though?
>>105967010Lisle 24300 Speedy Brake Pad Spreader
>>105967010I know, I used to have a mechanic friend. Worked on my own brakes, he supervised, all dandy.
>>105967023Because if your brakes fail, the police will ask you who worked on them. If you tell them you did and you're not a mechanic, you'll be charged criminally. If people got injured, you're fucked.
If you tell them mechanic XYZ, he'll be fucked, but they keep logs on that.
While changing the fluid, they add a small tag to the cap where the last date is written, with the signature and stamp of the master-mechanic who did the job.
I mean, this is Germany, the country that banned uber to save taxi-drivers. It is expected.
>>105967023>Speedy Brake Pad SpreaderLEWD ANON
>>105967065What is wrong with this:
Police: Did you work on your brakes?
You: I respectfully decline to answer any questions without first speaking to my attorney.
Police: Ok then.
>>105967168Sorry anon you are now jailed for anti-semitism and no your jew lawyer will not oblige to this court hearing. Hope you like some 85IQ turkish genius to handle this case he charges extra since he's brown 10x the rate and law says you have to pay him. :3
>>105967188>ignorance is strengthIn the German law, the right to remain silent is granted in the Strafprozeรordnung
(StPO) (Criminal Procedure Code).
Section 114b(2): โthe accused shall be advised that he (โฆ) 2. Has the right to reply to the accusation or to remain silentโ.
Section 115: โDuring the examination -before the competent court-, the incriminating circumstances shall be pointed out to the accused and he shall be informed of his right to reply to the accusation or to remain silentโ.
As Section 136(1): โ(1) At the commencement of the first examination, the
accused shall be informed of the offence with which he is charged and of the applicable criminal law provisions. He shall be advised that the law grants him the right to respond to the charges or not to make any statement on the charges and the right, at any stage, even prior to his examination, to consult defence counsel of his choice.โ
The German Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgeright) has also established
this principle in several rulings. As judgement 2 BvR 2462/18 states: โThe principle of freedom from self-incrimination guarantees that no one is forced to accuse himself of a criminal act by making his own statement or to actively contribute to his conviction and thus to have to create the conditions for a criminal court conviction or the imposition of a corresponding sanction himself. The provisions in Section 9 (4) GGBefG and in Section 55 OWiG in conjunction with Section 136 (1) sentence 2 StPO are simple statutory expressions of this constitutional principle.โ
>>105967168I mean you could just not say anything to the police, but the truth will come out sooner or later.
>>105967065>I mean, this is Germany, the country that banned uber to save taxi-drivers. It is expected.based, fuck uber
>>105967360in the states they would just shoot you
>>105967065>the country that banned uberUber isn't banned here. It's just that Uber drivers have to get a taxis driver license like any other driver which makes perfect sense unless you're an ameritard brainlet who likes to get into strangers cars whose only prerequisites for clearance are
>have a drivers license>have a car
What are your experiences about working for SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) vs giant corpos?
After having worked mostly in the former, I think for the future I'd rather be a small cog in a machine but I'd like to hear opinions
>>105967795>based, fuck uberThey still weaseled themselves in. It's now a "premium" service that is comparable to Taxis with professionally trained drivers, they even poached taxi drivers.
>in the states they would just shoot youThey just abuse you with their power here.
>be me>put car on parking lot at 4am>come back 6pm>some fucking dickwad crashed into the car and left (hit and run)>lucky for once, the car was in the view of a camera>ask hotel which owns the camera to take a look>they get all pissy and tell me to either call the cops or fuck off>call the police (non emergency line)>they arrive>instantly start accusing me>threaten me with 15 years of prison, don't let me even talk>fuck off after taking me for a 90 minute joyride>cocks fuck off>can't do anything about it>>105967839I know, but that's uberX and not the classic uber where it's literally rapists who drive your around.
>>105967870It's a dice roll and highly depends on the company.
But in my experience gigacorpos at some point ALWAYS become horrible to work at, this doesn't necessarily have to be the case for mid sized companies.
>>105967870they're all filled with retarded boomers who manage to be even stupider and more spiteful towards the world than jeets
>>105967875i hate police too but at least you didn't

i'm on call right now
i want to go get a coffee an a lil breakfast sandwich from the cafe just down the block
i figure with my shit luck, like 40 seconds after i place the order, i'll probably get an Page
do i risk it?
>>105968055why not, if you were in office would you not be allowed to take breaks? i go for smoke breaks where i work all the time, if its a slow day i just straight up put a note on my office door saying i went to tim hortons and then do exactly that (though before that i usually make up an excuse to see the usual departments and "casually mention" i'm heading off to the mall around the corner for 10-15 minutes)
>>105968080yeah but if i get a page i'm expected to be on the call in like 3 min
am i a retard for spending time making websits/webapps in Go to put on my portofolio to try and get into the industry?
I got overwhelmed when i looked into java-spring and asp.net, python-django felt overwhelming aswell
that left me with go or php...
can i get some honest advice?
>>105968091take your laptop with you. jesus
>>105968120then i'll look like a loser with his laptop on a sunday
>>105968163you people are unpleasable. i'm going to become a terrorist
>>105968118yes you should be learning audio to transmit data over audio
>>105968055>his job forces him to be on callgiga oof
>>105968163Hey, you are a loser with his laptop on a Sunday. Take pride in who you are. Chins up, get your sloppy slop.
>>105968118what's you degree anon
>>105966634sure, just like literally any other website, application and computer system owned (or proxied, like cloudflare) by big american corporations out there.
Finally land new job:
>jQuery1
>JSP
>Java EE 8
>wildfly deployment
>gazillion maven modules
>0 testing
>work is to be done only on features
>parent company is pushing hard for this to be deployed in more places
>people yelling at each other
>high turnover
I had no idea these fucking companies still exist. I was expecting some spring boot bullshit not to turn back in time.
I've already shot myself twice in the foot while working with jquery because I'm not used to prefixing all the shit and having a global scope.
>>105968118>overwhelmed by spring and djangoThe absolute state of this board
>>105968407is he wrong tho?
>>105968412Yes
Both spring and django are literally babby tier shit
They're fucking Lego sets to reduce boilerplate when writing CRUDslop made as beginner friendly as possible
>>105966788>wanting to become a mechanic>in 2025>when the only cars being sold will be smartphones with wheels and seatsyou guys are seriously, completely lost
>>105968458so what's my mental diagnosis if i find both of them hard to comprehend and would rather use go stdlib or just php to make websites/apps?
>>105968490this but unironically. i may be a doomer but this isn't an issue of It being Over, tech "people" are literally incapable of understanding the world around them at all
>>105968528>so what's my mental diagnosis if i find both of them hard to comprehendlow IQ
>>105968490That's the beauty of being an androidchad, I'm already 30% car mechanic kek because literally all infotainment systems aside from Tesla run android
>>105968407idk about Django, but if you look up Spring all that comes up are hindi-tier overdetailed tutorials that overexplain every aspect of the framework without giving you a hint of what parts of it are actually crucial while in real world codebases it's just like 3 annotations that get used from it in very repetitive ways. Honestly I don't even get why recruiters care if a Junior knows it, when I started out I didn't and it took 5 minutes to see oh these type of classes have @Inject... over them I'll follow
>>105968490just download some more displacement dude
>modifying some heavily abstracted web app framework where you have to make and modify config files instead of writing actual code is easier than literally writing your own thing from the start! just read the docs bro
why do devs think this way? DIY stuff is obviously easier to start because you can start by writing stuff. having to use a framework, filling bullshit configs or modifying someone else's code means you have to start by doing tutorials, reading docs, learning the lingo, quirks, etc., and then you have to search how to do every single thing, keep up with updates and so on.
Job wants me to upgrade my clearance to top secret but I don't want to do a polygraph + another year of investigations. Can I just tell them no?
>>105968884Yes and then they can fire you if they want
>>105968884>polygraphdo americans really
>>105968916All my work is unclassified and I don't want SCIF access if I can help it.
>>105968950why are retarded normies so afraid of "SCIF"s? I worked in a secure workspace for years and it was fine. is it because they can't let go of their phones for five seconds?
>>105968991can't use grok on the TS SCI network
>>105966633 (OP)>he has a female manager
>>105968118only established companies use these things and frankly you are unlikely to get hired if you don't have any experience. startups mostly use node.js and that's your best bet.
>ask my bosses to be references
>they be as difficult about it as possible, furnish not enough contact details, I have to go in to the office to double check address books and emergency contact info
Finally, Sunday night and back to work tomorrow morning. See you at the office!
>>105968667You can laugh until you realise what else runs on android.
Now that I'm employed for a year, I am exceedingly grateful that I did not spend my college years or my NEET half-year after doing "personal projects" or any of the associated humiliation rituals
>>105969879lol only retards fall for the "personal projects" meme
>>105969900Personal projects are the reason why I didn't have to go to uni lol
>>105969879>>105969900I got a buddy who fell for the personal projects meme. He's still doing them at the age of 30 now, living at home with no degree or relevant certification. I heavily emphasized him to get a degree at least but he's still hesitating.
>>105969827wild assault with this creature
>>105969900my personal project is building a time machine so i can go back to 2008 where disposable cameras were still prolific so I can get the free ones from drugstores to build a railgun in my garage (I refuse to pay Digikey's abusive shipping and handling charges for small orders)(and I can steal the copyright for "Charged Dust" from Arc System Works after deciding to use 1mm projectiles for civilian variants, at least in North American courts(I am using the civilian variant to shoot up a court after losing the copyright case))
(You) should be able to solve this.

>>105970266No. That's AI generated.
>>105966696I am thinking about learning electric for the upcoming housing shortage push that's definitely going to happen fr fr this time. All the NIMBYs understand now and will let their biggest asset crash in value without throwing a hissy fit. I believe it.
>>105970237>>Still have to pay tuition probably idk where ur from lol1. I got decent scholarships
2. my union did tuition reimbursement
3. I could live with parents in college which saves a fuckton of time and money
>>105970353there are entire deserted towns. availability of land or housing isn't the issue, it's the price of it all and that most of it isn't anywhere worth going
>>105970402People don't want to live in rural Kansas and Nebraska. They all want to live in urban and suburban environments with lots of jobs and opportunities.
>>105970495This is why remote is such a huge opportunity for a lot of people to prosper even at the expense of all the retarded boomers neck deep in office real estate investment. Let that shit crash and burn. Either let us build apartment buildings in the cities or let remote happen. Stupid boomer cunts can't have both.
>>105970495yes and houses already exist there, as do more experienced electricians than you
>>105970516US corps will never let remote happen. From now on it is either hybrid or office-only.
>>105970516THAT MAKE NUMBER GO DOWN THOUGH
>>105970530We just have to lower taxes on the job creators. Then they'll make more jobs and people will move in!

>>105970651I see you've got a daughter that looks like young Ivanka *licks lips* let's see what I can do. May every day be another wonderful secret, Mr. American hero patriot hero.
>>105970654No one wants to live in the rural areas of those states either. Internal and international migration is all headed towards the counties surrounding big cities. The only rural counties with positive growth rates are those with big Hispanic or Amish populations.
>>105970683so wait you mean people don't want to be strawberry pickers for 2$/hour? what if we integrate AI??
>>105970683so you americans think you are entitled to living in a big overpriced cardboard house, in a big city surrounded by NPCs and druggies and mentally ill people, or in a suburban shithole full of 3d printed houses that all look the same?
>>105970744>you HAVE to work a rural job if you live in a rural area!!>what is wfh??you obviously don't belong here, bot
>>105970683I live in rural kansas and I work from home. It kind of sucks because I have to drive to colorado or arkansas to get to mountainous ourdoor recreation and the kayaking here sucks. But houses are like $70k-250k. I fled from arizona because the californians and upper midwesterners drove up housing costs.
>>105970776>>what is wfh??a dead meme now that normies have forgotten coof times
>>105970804Yes but you are also autistic so not the norm. Stacy and Becky are moving to the big city to fulfill their dream of getting laid by high quality men while Chad and Brad are moving to either the city or the suburbs for job opportunities.
>>105970836I'm married and wichita has a really good montessori-esque school called wonder academy. I don't believe in public education and I wanted a house away from swarthy hoardes and a low col

The first person who solves detection and protection against AI generated content is gonna become a trillionaire
>>105971019multiple tools for this already exist
>>105970968My plan for my kids is ged by 14 and bs by 18 from a degree mill then straight into a masters program at 18. You can condense the amount of actual work a child does at school all day into ~3 hours. That's what wonder does and then the rest is just socialization and projects. As soon as they can pass the ged and get into an online degree mill I will have them continue this just for the socialization then go to a masters program direct from high school. Normal high school is an absolute and complete waste of time but homeschooling risks making your children socially retarded.
>>105971124lol this is some next level larp
>>105971124What does your kid think about that and what strategy have you developed for fighting an open rebellion in your homestead? What a fascinating way to fuck up a kid.
>>105967915>>105967940in USA the police do not actually shoot people at all; unless you run or try to fight them, then yes they do shoot you. But it's pretty simple, just stay really still like a bear and don't try to fight them also like a bear and it will be fine. (you might go to jail or get a ticket but that's about the worst that happens). that is so funny you think that, your news must be fake.
>>105971155They still will end up doing the wonder capstone, just instead of their normal morning block of math/science coursework it will be degreemill online schooling. They all do a final capstone project where they have to shadow a business or career in person they find interesting after cold calling the person themselves. The school is already much better than a public education and the tuition isn't bad.
>>105971155sorry to break it to you fren but if you were stupid enough to have kids then you belong on reddit.
>>105971139i think it's real this board has really gone to shit.
>>105970654the answer to your second question is no.
>>105971208>>105971235So this is the power of public education

>>105971019
>>105971557It's waiting for all the bullshit pajeet code to end in a disaster like it always does. There's a reason America is the only country with a large tech base. It's a culture thing. All this cope that H1B1's are needed because India has this magical booming tech sector is so fucking funny
They've done this many times before. Boeing literally crashed planes and killed people because they outsourced their fucking auto pilot code for their entire fleet to two pajeets.
Fuck, I wouldn't be surprised if another companies pull the reverse and countries like China or Taiwan start offering salaries to all the laid off tech workers in America

>>105971615> China or Taiwan start offering salaries to all the laid off tech workers in AmericaFingers crossed.

>>105971668I think the issue is that there are amazing software developers, but then there is this massive sea of bullshit front end, mobile app, girls who code crap that do need to be purged, but then Google does something like fire their senior python dev team
>>105971668They might do it as a political move to weaken the westoids, like what they did with the laid off white RAF pilots.
>>105971687Not even. The medical doctor MD union that controls how and who becomes a doctor still goes out of its way to discriminate against whites, asians, more so the men in both too.
Air Traffic controllers also got shafted a few administrations ago because it was too WHITE.
For universities unless you got cash they would prefer to only accept minorities and jews for their uni's. We had a whole court case about this and its still not working to the benefit of americans since they just cut seats for whites and asians instead and replaced them with foreign students.

My workplace lets us choose whatever 3 days of the week we go to the office, and there's no in person clocking in, meaning I clock in the same way I do when I wfh, from my computer.
Since bosses are never there, and they never really check anything, I wonder for how long I could get away with just not going, at all.

>whippersnapper applying to one of the open positions

On one hand, he has every right to ask for $$$ but if I evaluate him against advanced standards most probably I have to fail him. On the other hand, if I let a mediocre guy pass and earn the same money as I do my ego will be hurt (could use him as a piece to negotiate a better salary in 1 year time though). On the third hand he is white and if fail him we will inevitably get some jeet instead.

They literally cannot afford for the top end to stop spending. Now with the theory of trickle down economics if every high income spender was replaced with a saver then the market would screech to a halt aside from stocks, assets and houses. If that happened over night then warehouse, labor, and service industries would collapse entirely.
With tech/government layoffs you are seeing this play out.

These are likely the people who are over leveraged with their houses and credit card debts. They choose to save for a house instead but now it's going to foreclosure soon.

>>105977612Wrong. That normie-think caused by normie-indoctrination reinforced by normie-propoganda.
The #1 point of life is to quest for a life worth living in a manner that does not inflict suffering upon other people.
To live is to suffer, therfore, by reproducing you will have inflicted suffering upon your children by creating them.
>>105977684That's absolutely true. Even the better jeet engineers I've worked with are simply mercenaries. They actually hate coding and don't actively look for things and processes to improve.
>>105977785>that's normie thinkAt a time when birthrates are plummeting and people are fetishizing their pets en masse? It's the opposite of normiethink. You're a normie. You're literally rattling off gay ass redditor talking points. You suffer because nature is punishing you. It's punishing you for neglecting your duty. Your duty, as life, is to create more life, raise life, and continue life. You aren't doing that. You should be depressed and miserable for being a cosmic failure and taking this miracle for granted.

Anyone forced to manage up? Got into a role without really any devops or PM experience and it feels like my boss doesn't really keep track of any documentation or wiki. He often has side conversations with other teams and implements stuff without my visibility until it's done and it's starting to bug the shit outta me because we don't have any shared documentation (I've introduced this before but he didn't use the tool and now everything is offline again). The only asscheeks thing is if I introduce this back, he'll ask me to retroactively add the stuff back and I'm going to be like "the fuck?"
>>105978179Me. I'm a sr, my current manager doesn't do anything, literally. I was then told I should start picking up more managerial duties like keeping an eye on team members and what they are doing work wise, writing process/team orientation docs, etc.
Then when I brought a bunch of fucked up shit I noticed to my managers attention, like team members not working, docs he wrote that are out of date or wrong, epics that need to be reconfigured, etc he suddenly got annoyed, and told me I didn't need to do any of this anymore.

There's also the double edge sword where if I start introducing procedures well I'm on the hook for it too rather than me freeforming but I think I'm starting to really need structure here.

If you've been given the controls, I say just do what you think is best, or what sounds best to you and create your own structure if your manager doesn't have input or guidance. I live in a country Americans have either never heard of or would call a shithole and you can walk here at any time of day or night with 0 safety worries. I see women walking alone at 1-2 am all the time. A ton of them even have headphones in. Was a bizarre thing to experience.
>>105978804Primarily because the US has an enormous, largely ignored drug problem, and sky high murder rates.
The lowest murder rate state in the US is still 4x higher than anywhere in Europe, per 100,000. Funnily, AI chalks it up to "socioeconomic factors". Every region that has higher density of black people, has a sharp incline in murder rates, gun violence, and felony level drug crime.
Some 3rd world countries have lower murder rates than the US, and its almost entirely because "african american" communities love to kill apparently.

>>105979058There is a homeless shit tracker you can use to avoid it.
I report to the controller. The guy started a few years after we signed on a really good MSP, local too.
The MSP has never increased their prices, theyve gone above and beyond and are committed to the company running properly.
Controller wants a meeting with the MSP but dodges all meetings I've asked him to join.
Go behind my back to schedule a meeting with the MSP. Invites me to join. Whatever.
They get him the same documents I sent him (Master Agreement contract, Scope of work, etc).
Controller is now e-mailing an MSP out of state.
I think it's STL?
Anyway, not sure what to think about this. It's a giant red flag for me.
Never had an issue with my job performance. Always meet deadlines and get shit done. The department is run as it should with no nonsense.
I can only help but feel that the controller doesn't like the MSP solely because he has no way to approach the existing MSP to ask for control (admin passwords, access to x, y z, etc.) without going to a new MSP who would report to him and not me. Thus creating a rogue IT department that I have no control over but he does.
That is creating a toxic work environment.. Idk.

>b-but I'll Luigi!You won't do shit, retard.
>>105979306>Wage cagenot an argument, you cannot even pay rent by working in a wage cage. Let alone make a living.
