I took up a Trade Job, and I'm very happy that I did.
Instead of busting my ass off for years, and be left with a high degree, but no places to accept it, I can pretty much pick-and-chose where I want to be employed now.

Work is very simple. Help end users with daily IT problems, ranging from setting up an extra monitor, to installing MS Office add-ons.

The pay is obviously the big difference in this, but I feel that shouldn't be the driving factor.
Find a job you like doing, and you wont have to work another day in your life.

I actually started a training in welding. My current internship is very hard because it's hell to switch from being a reasonably competent webshit to a completely clueless wannabe weldie. I constantly feel ashamed and frustrated no being able to do simple task and perform basic welds correctly.

It's nice to be away from the screen and every bullshits related to a programming job. But it's a dangerous field of work, and being exposed to it "for real" actually made me question my choices a bit.

I'm 10 years into my programming career. If you're a skilled programmer you're honestly more set than ever.

Reason is: juniors today have NO FUCKING CLUE what they are doing. Barely understand what a terminal is or how to use it, let alone have even a rudimentary understanding of how a computer works. There's a huge gap between a junior and senior and LLMs are making the gap worse.

I'm a little concerned that once the graybeards writing car firmware or w/e retire we're going to have a ton of lost knowledge and no one will know how the fuck to write some of this stuff

Yes, I've also used Copilot and Cursor. Claude, Grok, ChatGPT for the normal LLM interaction.

I don't have anything against them but I found them to be more annoying than helpful, ESPECIALLY Copilot/Cursor. I think Grok/Claude/ChatGPT are pretty helpful for refactoring though. If I write some dumb 200LoC function they can at least give me some advice on how I might break it up.

The problem is that it's making some junior programmers dumber and unable to solve even really basic problems. Some of these juniors don't even read the fucking error messages they encounter - just copy/paste it to their LLM of choice. More often than not it gives them an overengineered or flat out wrong answer.

I'm honest in 2014 I believed Musk when he said two more years until self driving will be ready, I even delayed getting my own license because I thought it was just around the corner. However, 10+ years later the technology is still not at the point where it can be a drop-in replacement for an average human driver, like with everything the last 10% are the hardest and I'm doubtful we'll be closing in on the last 5% of the problem in the next decade.

Even without Le Ebin AI Blockchain 3d Printed etc etc nonsense, retail and similar min wage jobs have always been heavily saturated.
The only reason it's not all automated is because the cost of labor is already so low that it doesn't cover R&D and retrofitting. That and part of the shopping/dining experience boomers want is to yell at a pasty-faced 16 year old.

holy skitzo
if you wanna play social go ahead
because theyre not my problem
its a simple equation of what they can provide vs what they will cost
as entrepreneur you'd rather have 2 men you pay 1.5 times the market rate and they deliver 5x the norm
than 5 workers you pay 0.75x market rate
but whom you have to babysit for them to deliver 2x the norm in the end
its simple maths
its also long term cooperation
unless youre building pyramids. or pick strawberries, where you need raw manpower

in fact
you dont want incompetents on the job unless its a really big job, like total renovation etc
the problem when an apprentice fucks up
you have to undo his shit
then make things properly
so the apprentice lost time
and you lost demo + the same time again
incompetents cost you money
and dont even think about bringing them for transformations or enovations in the high end stuff
fukken
even pros fuck up now and again
and then you have to unfuck things
like what do you do if while transporting an apprentice scratches the fuck out of an inox-clad lift?
because a similar thing hapenned
i think its one of the neighbors came by and scratched the lift to put us in deep because people are fucked in the head like that

Well, for example, industrial robots like on the pic are used for either humanly impossible jobs like lifting a 10 ton metal things while rotating and welding it or for extremely fast 24/7 assembly lines or packaging. Humanoid robots are just toys for rich people or for entertainment companies to put put as an attraction for public. Actual real cases for using robots is to surpass human limitations and it doesn't actually replace humans, unless you dream about standing in front of a conveyor for 16 hours and screwing caps on toothpaste tubes

These retards took over sociology and other 'arts' degrees which resulted in their dominance in academia but resulted in developing a core base that is inherently anti tech and anti innovation because any tech threateans to disrupt existing job markets.
You might not know this but there was a time when commies opposed computers because it threatened the employment of clarks and other salarymen.
