Threat Interactive is totally revamping its graphics pipeline to fix the flaws in current anti-aliasing and make visuals look insanely clean and lifelike without tanking performance.

Unreal Engine 5’s built-in anti-aliasing? Yeah, it leaves a lot to be desired—jaggy edges and lower frame rates. So, Threat Interactive is cooking up a new rendering tech that’s way more efficient and tackles the stuff Epic Games missed.

They’re looking to raise $900K to build a killer team of graphics and engine devs to bring this next-gen tech to life. They’ve got a prototype and solid plan ready to roll, just need the funding to hit go.

If you’re all about pushing the limits of real-time graphics, check it out and maybe throw some support their way. You can learn more or chip in here: https://threatinteractive.wordpress.com/support-funding/

Your help could seriously level up Unreal Engine’s future.

The pursuit of realistic graphics was a mistake. So much Digital Foundry crap talking about blocky lines or whatever acronym. Meanwhile games that came out in the 90s and 2000s have a high level of interactivity and still hold up today due to something called "art style". Most FPS games are less interactive than even Duke Nukem 3D. This is the wrong path.

It is based.
Gayms are shit because of AI generated pixels (upscaling), AI generated frames and AI generated anti aliasing.
So why not use AI slop to answer to all the people defending AI slop gayms?

I myself started to copy-paste corpo bootlicker posts into prompts, to answer to them via AI slop textwall.
It is the world they want to life in, so let them have it.

i watched the epic guy talk with lex "went to mit" friedman (monologue).

Dude is completely disconnected from reality, he cant understand all the games that are doing well and earning money are not using realistic graphics, Fortnite, amongus, fall guys.

I think at this point all of that is just a money farm to fund the real project of having more realistic computer graphics, its not about the games anymore.

Don't give him money.

>Asked if he's making a game to show people how it's done
No.

>Asked if he's making a game engine that will be better than UE5
No.

>Any technological breakthroughs to improve development?
No.

>Doesn't factor in dev time at all. All his statements massively increase development time, meaning his "optimizations" take away from progress in other areas, as development time is finite and limited.

>Advocates for techniques that require massive manual work, are hard to debug when they go wrong, and can't scale.

>It's obvious to most devs that none of his ideas have ever touched reality because if they had, he would have failed and reverted to what developers are already doing.

>Internally, he knows this. That's why he won't make anything; he needs to complain for YouTube money.

>If you give him money, he'll just start a fake consultancy business and never produce anything of value.

weird, just a few years ago, it was totally normal to do LOD models, nowadays this "increased development times" and is unacceptable, even thought that they have higher budgets than ever before.

You argue in favor of laziness, so i will do the time effective thing and let AI reply for me. Having to legitimately reply to you, would take away my progress in other areas:

Your argument assumes that criticizing modern game development practices is inherently naive or grifty, but that’s a reductive take. Development time is limited, but many critiques focus on misallocated effort—like prioritizing graphical bloat over stability or relying on procedural generation as a crutch. Some of the most polished games (e.g., Hollow Knight, Dark Souls) succeed precisely because they favor hand-crafted design over "scalable" shortcuts that often create more problems than they solve.
The claim that "no working dev would do this" ignores how often industry norms backfire (e.g., Cyberpunk 2077’s launch, live-service flops). Studios often revert to familiar practices not because they’re optimal, but because of risk aversion or publisher pressure. Meanwhile, indies routinely prove that careful, manual techniques can work—they’re just not chasing infinite growth.

Dismissing critics as clueless YouTubers is a straw man. Many have shipped games or mods, and even those who haven’t can spot trends like asset flips or broken AI. The real issue isn’t "lazy devs"—it’s systems that incentivize rushed, monetized design over player satisfaction. If current methods were flawless, why do so many AAA games launch broken while smaller teams deliver tighter experiences? The answer isn’t "critics are wrong," but that priorities are skewed.

Threat Interactive is getting way more hate than it deserves, and most of the critics are clueless armchair devs who couldn’t code their way out of a "Hello World" script. So what if they say "we" and only show one guy? Indie games are built by solo devs all the damn time—Stardew Valley, Undertale, and Minecraft started with one person. Maybe the rest of the team just doesn’t want to deal with toxic trolls like you.

No gameplay yet? Big surprise—development takes time. You think UE5 is some magic "make game" button? It’s a beast to work with, and if they’re rebuilding their pipeline, that means they actually give a shit about performance. Most of you wouldn’t know real dev work if it bit you in the ass.

And yeah, the presenter’s awkward—so what? Not everyone’s a slick corpo-shill. Maybe he’s an actual developer instead of some PR-trained puppet. The fact that he’s even talking instead of hiding behind hype trailers should count for something.

You want a scam? Look at AAA studios charging $70 for broken slop. Threat Interactive hasn’t taken a dime from you, but sure, keep screeching like they’re the next Fntastic. Until they actually fuck up, how about shutting the hell up and letting them cook?

no laziness would mean be cutting down on dev time overall, your problem is not allocating finite resources and time effectively. What are you trading off when you choose this level of attention on certain things?

you haven't dealt with the real world if you think you can have your cake and eat it too.

If you don't optimize and just throw your meshes right from zbrush into unreal engine, you cut the amount of possible customers by more than half.
Optimization is not wasted time. The failure of optimization is the reason why almost nobody plays current games anymore. Zoomers play Fortnite now for 8 years. Fortnite runs on every average PC.
You simply want to be lazy, even thought that your laziness is costing money.

if you're asking people to do manual work in your pipeline instead of using automated processes, you're introducing a 2–5x increase in development time for both implementation and debugging. That impact is even greater if other teams are forced to wait on the team doing all the manual work before they can start their part.

Given how time-consuming your pipelines are, and considering how many projects are under tight, limited, and finite budgets and timelines, what are you trading off for the increased time cost of your optimizations?

You keep calling this "laziness," but that claim reflects a juvenile unwillingness to accept the reality that spending time on Task X means having less time for Task Y. Time isn't infinite. A real project requires thoughtful allocation of both time and resources to avoid far worse outcomes, like an unfinished game or falling into development hell, which often leads to cancellations.

So please answer the question you're avoiding: what exactly are you trading off? And how long does your proposed ideas take to implement compared to the things you're criticizing? Your ideas go to shit once they realize the stuff you're asking doesn't actually scale for bigger projects(which is mostly what you attack)

No, if you ask that, you are asking for people do to what everybody did until about five years ago.
>you're introducing a 2–5x increase in development time
only if you are a total baboon

Optimize your slop or nobody will buy it, it is that easy. Even if it is 2x the effort, it will triple the amount of potential customers.

Most optimization is to retopologize meshes into a form that is useful for real-time rendering. And do this multiple times for multiple LODs. Like that UE demo, that could be made five times faster by simply fixing a few polygons in their floor tiles.
And that isn't development work. It doesn't affect the developers at all. It also doesn't make the pipeline more "time-consuming".
This is dumb work that you can hire any pajeet for, who you gave a few hours of crash-course on how a good topology looks like. Or pay some students during their summer break.

Considering that the average player is on 1080 GPU levels, wouldn't that be super cost effective and pay for itself? Imagine not needing AI upscaling bullshit in the first place, because you can run 4k native.
You are indeed just lazy.
And your laziness is costing you money. You lose sales.

But the games your complain about SH2, KCD2,Oblivion remaster, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, AW2, Solid well? There way more current examples: all FromSoftware games, cyberpunk 2077, monster hunter, the latest Pokemons games all sold like crazy well despite having huge obivious technological issues.

Optimization doesn't really change people's buying decisions.

>what are you trading off
Sales, if you don't optimize your product people won't buy it and it'll be less accessible.
>But the games your complain about...
They bought those games yes but still requires costly purchases from customers in terms of hardware. There's no reason why games that look barely better or sometimes worse than last gen have to rely on shoddy techiques to be playable
